Don't compare war atrocities with the holocaust.Atrocities were committed by all sides during WWII. Nobody is innocent.
The deliberate targeting of civilian populations in air raids was a hideous new development in warfare that was participated in with alacrity by Germany, the USA, and Britain.
The hunting down and prosecution of men in their 90s for alleged crimes committed over 70 years ago is justice in action as might well have been imagined by visionaries like Orwell or Kafka.
The situation is bizarre, and these cold-blooded acts of revenge will have a negative impact on the very people who are instigating them.
Seems my previous question has been answered.
Nonsense.
Atrocities are atrocities, and when hundreds of thousands - maybe millions - of people are killed, the end result is the same regardless of motivation.

Israel sucks.
They go out of their way to cause trouble ,
and then when they get a little payback, they scream that they are being persecuted.
They are cocky and act tough as long as they know the U.S will finance and support them.
Israel has been an "independent" country for about 60 years now.
It is time they were truly independent and learned how to conduct themselves in a manor that does not put their existence in jeopardy with out a big brother to stick up for them.
Their attitude is a huge reason there can be no peace in the middle east, and that puts the safety of the entire world at risk.
They are the spoiled brats and bullies of the world and they need to grow up.
It's past time the USA let Israel either sink or swim on their own
A bunch of generalizations, nothing really on topic. Why am I not surprised?
Lame response.
You've gone from posts of mind-boggling verbosity to silly one-liners.
You are not surprised because it is the obvious truth.

Hear! Hear!
That needed to be said.
It is the obvious truth that is buried under a mountain of claptrap.

Israel has long rationed water to Palestinians. This is water pumped from wells and rivers inside Palestine. But Israel has seized control of all the water and doles it out one drop at a time.
From the very first, the policy of the Israeli government has been to make conditions of life intolerable for Palestinians so they will leave and make way for Israeli settlers.
It is all part of realizing the Zionist dream of Eretz Israel.
Some posters are having a hard times coming to terms with the fact that the water is divided according to a bilateral agreement signed by the Palestinians. The water is not pumped from "wells and rivers" (what rivers?) inside Palestine but from a variety of sources - some in the mountain aquifer (which will not be solely Palestinian anyway) and some originating from within Israel (as a measure to reduce over production and salinization of the mountain aquifer).
And there goes the nonsense trade mark line you bring up on every other post.
Your post is an attempt to whitewash an obvious fact... Israel is controlling water sources on Palestinian land and rationing them to Palestinians living on Israeli occupied territory.
Eretz Israel is a "...nonsense trade mark..." ?
Tell that to a Zionist.

snafu?
American military acronym from WWII.
Google it.

Still nobody care to comment on the fact that water shortages were due to a burst water main?
The burst pipe you refer to disrupted supplies to a mere 5 villages: Marda, Biddya, Jammain, Salfit and Tapuach. If it has been repaired, will it all be hunk dory again with occupied Palestinians now able to refill ther swimming pools just like their nearby neighbors in the illegal Zionist colony? The OP article has certainly opened up a hornet's nest of the further insidious nastiness and greed of Israel's illegal occupation.Under the Geneva Convention to which Israel is a signatory, it has a duty of care towards the people it occupies, including public health and non destruction of property [incl wells and irrigation systems]If Israel does not wish to cop so much flak for its occupation...easy...stop building further illegal colonies on stolen land and end the occupation. There you go again...

Interesting. I recall you saying you married a woman in Pattaya with tattoos.
His wife posted a few weeks back on FB asking whether friends etc had seen him. With a delay of more than a month before ringing the bell, I fear he's a goner! Most likely the fight was about his daughter who most certainly has been parked with grandma or some "uncle" somewhere in Issaan until she's old enough to bcome a valuable "asset". The photo, the eyes and the staged "smile" of Nan tell me more than I even want to know...
Known them both 10+ years.
Was he giving the woman money regularly?
Was he planning to take the daughter out of Pattaya, like any good father would?
Do you think the ex wife is capable of murder?
Had she found another client yet?
OK, the Scots guy made a bad decision in choosing a wife. That is not the issue here. Where is he and what happened is important.
Did the wife do it?
Many men come here and marry prostitutes, get over it it is a fact. I'd estimate that 2% end up having happy, long, loving relationships. So, it's a long shot gamble that seemingly many are willing to take when they see a beautiful younger woman. I'd say another 10% survive and live a pretty sad, lonely life in rural Isarn and eventually realize they made a mistake but have bought the house and car, are getting their old-age pension and too scared to make a new start - their ego is hurt and end up bitter posters, hating Thailand an making generalized assumptions about all Thai people.
Many marry normal Thai women, and some, especially the Pattata dwellers, can't understand this.
Excellent post.
It sums-up this topic very well indeed.
Any farang who would marry a bargirl needs a check-up from the neck up.

Syria is a difficult situation to negotiate. The US has had little involvement and less interests in the country. The years of cold relations between Assad Sr., and his son, mean that there is not a lot of information or local assets in the country. There is not accurate information on the ground for the feel of the locals.
Removing Assad will leave a void; if he remains it means a continuation of very repressive measures. Either way it means a continuation of people suffering and leaving the country.
Assad doesn't really present a threat to the US at this point, but ISIS does, so I tend to agree with the limited approach of fighting the known enemy.
Of course, there is Russia and Iran in the mix.
There are no good solutions.
Agreed, there are no good solutions.
What's more, there are no good intentions by any of the countries involved.
The Middle East is a bloody quagmire that should be avoided by all.

Palestinians who complain about water shortages can just pack up and move.
There are plenty of Israeli settlers who are waiting to take their place.
What you say is, as always, utterly crap
Jeez....one would imagine that by now posters would be aware of other poster's unchanging positions.
In case your missed it, JingerBen's comment was more in line with your views.
Thanks for that perceptive observation.
My post was ironic...
Just a quick reaction to another Israeli provocation against the Palestinians.
Live within your internationally recognized 1967 borders.
Peace Now, bro.

In another paper, his father has said his actions had nothing to do with religion. They may well have a lot to do with his upbringing, and the attitudes he learned at home, which to me are inseparable from his religion.
Of course his father is going to say that . . .
What his father said about him may well be true.
From the facts that have come out so far, he sounds like a typical wannabe cop.
As American as apple pie.

Apparently breaker's yard = junkyard.
That's right, junkyard.
As in, "mean as a junkyard dog."
Somehow "breaker's yard dog" just doesn't cut it.

Finally the abandoned "Air America" hotel is going down.
If that was the one opposite the station, on Charoen Muang rd, it went years ago. The Bossotel is still there and isn't part of the re-development.
He may mean the old Poy Luang Hotel at the end of Charoen Muang on See Yak Nong Prateep.
Although I've never heard of any connection with the sinister Air America operations... many secrets may have died along with CIA hitman Bill Young.
In the late '70s the Poy Luang was the tallest building in Chiang Mai, but soon to be surpassed by the big hotels under construction on Huay Kaew a few years later.
The Poy Luang has stood derelict for over 20 years now as a Chiang Mai eyesore.
At one time there was talk of turning it into a hospital, but, like Huck Finn's dream "Nuffin' come of it."

Check out Global House.
I recently saw a real beauty with four chairs included - heavy alloy with a tiled top that looked great.
Tastes vary, hope you find what you want.

News outlets make mistakes all over the world. This isn't a Thai thing.
That's certainly true...
But on ThaiVisa, it's today's BIG THING.

Some of the Israeli apologists on this forum clearly demonstrate exactly what pinkwashing is: holding up Israel as the great beacon of tolerance in order to vilify other countries and religions (juxtaposing rainbow flags and mosques), in the hope that we won't notice the huge elephant in the room .... 4.5 million Palestinians under a brutal occupation.
I think Gay Pride Week is wonderful. People who have been so persecuted for their natural sexual preferences can stand up and be counted.
It's using the event for propaganda purposes as the Israeli government and some of the Israeli apologists on this forum are doing, that I object to.
That sums it up very well and makes all the spin sound like gibberish.

A more accurate sign would be.
"Disrespectful drunk and violent tourists go home"
Especially that lot, but mass tourism is a disaster for any country that experiences it.
No amount of money can compensate for the damage it does.

Could this scandal bring Bibi down?
But even if he remains unscathed by the criminal and legal proceedings, an indictment of his wife, the most influential woman in Israel, and a senior official in his office over the misuse of public funds will have a major impact on the prime minister. That is of course if Mrs. Netanyahu is indicted. That would be great if he was replaced by someone better ...
For sure; someone like Noam Chomsky.
Although Noam is getting a little long in the tooth, he has always seen clearly that radical Zionism is going to be a disaster for the Jews.
-
If Netanyahu and/or his wife are indicted on serious corruption charges, Lieberman will become even more a force to be reckoned with.
He will be the new face of Israel for everybody to see.
-
Great work Bibi.
Now there is no more room for discussion : having Lieberman who lives in a west bank settlement and want to retake it fully for Israel show what kind of politic this government wants. For sure not a solution!
"...and want to retake it fully for Israel..."
Second (or third?) time you post the same. Most of what Lieberman advocates does not include Israel taking over the whole West Bank. He got not interest in making demographics more problematic than they are.
That's just balderdash.
Demographics couldn't be any more problematic than they are at present with Israel broken out of their legitimate 1967 borders and occupying Palestinian land.
What Lieberman advocates doesn't mean a thing right now. The question is how he and his fellow radical Zionists will respond to the French peace initiative.

You might try moving to a better neighborhood. I have never had anything stolen in Thailand.
Neither have I.
Luck has no doubt played a part, but I've always taken the obvious precautions and I live among people who are - for the most part - decent and honest. Typical working class Thais in Chiang Mai, and out in the country at my daughter's farm, chao soo-un.
Good to hear the experiences of someone who has been here for forty years - you have me beat by three.

Interesting point... and relevant.
To what extent - if any - is Wat Dhammakaya a front for the Reds?
Thaksin has been silent on the issue, unless I've missed something.
Is he the eminence grise in this showdown, or is he really uninvolved?
No, it's never dull in Thailand, that's one of its charms.
