  1. I have been to Yanhee for mole removals many times. They don't like to remove the big ones if using laser. They will want to cut them out with stitches. Small ones are easy and cheap with the laser. Without knowing your specifics, you will have some choices to make. The doctor may or may not recommend an autopsy depending on the mole appearance.

To answer your question, Yanhee is a very good hospital and it will be a fraction of the cost compared to BNH, Bumrungrad, etc. (plus, you get to watch the nurses on roller skates while waiting for the doctor w00t.gif )

  2. The certificate is free. You don't believe me? OK, ask them for a receipt. You wont get one. Or look for the cost of the certificate on the official list of fees. You wont find it.

The sum you pay is tea money. I pay 200B and get it the next day or within a few minutes if they aren't busy.

Either way, any amount you pay is 100% unofficial and as such is both negotiable and a rip-off. It should be 0B.

    Welcome to Thailand.

Here was my experience. I was dropped off at the Chaeng Wattana Immigration in Bangkok. Went to the Information desk.

Me: "I need a residence certificate for a driver's license"

    Officer: "go to window J2"

(First I went to the ticket line to get my que number)

Waiting at J2, my number is called.

Me: "I need a residence certificate for a driver's license"

Officer: "Passport please" Looks at passport. "Oh sorry sir, your VISA extension is from Chamchuri Square office. You must go there. Very sorry sir."

Off I go to the Chamchuri Square "one stop" office. Went directly to the Information desk. She gave me the forms to fill out. I filled them out, made copies of my passort, VISA extension page, and Departure Card. I returned the form and copies to her. She then walked me over to another staff lady and was asked to wait in the lobby. 15 minutes later I had my Residence Certificate.

Taxi -Chaeng Wattana to Morchit MRT: 135 baht

MRT to Sam Yan (Chamchuri Square): 40 baht

    MRT to home: 25 baht

    Residence Certificate: FREE!!

    Total Cost: 200 baht

Smiles all around. Everyone spoke basic Engish. You read that correctly. The Residence Certificate was FREE.

  3. Blue eyes is caused by a recessive gene. Both parents must carry the gene in order for the child to have blue eyes. It is possible for the parents to have brown eyes, because brown is a dominant gene. However, they must both carry the recessive blue gene to pass it to the child.

  4. What a scam watchseries.lt.com is do not follow the link or join.

Firstly you will not get what you think as it redirects to flixden.com and also asks for a free credit card authorization process.

If you want to cancel it will cost $1 to do it and if you dont cancel its $49 after 5 days.

You may have clicked on the wrong links. I have been watching lots of shows for free. They are all there.

The site WILL bury you in pop-up ads, and try to mislead you to advertising links, but I use Firefox with Adblocker ad-on and I never see them. Trust me, every show you can imagine is there. You don't have to join anything.

  5. Problem solved. The switch from 64-bit Win7 to 32-bit Win7 worked! I am not going to defend the IT guy, I already got the forum's opinion of his suggestion. But it solved the problem. Certainly there still could have been another root cause. There could have been a problem with the original WIn7 installation, or a compatibility problem with my old modem, or a problem with my company's proprietary settings for the 64-bit version. Regardless, I didn't have to spend half a day at Pantip and more money.

I want to thank very one for the valuable suggestions and ideas. I plan to buy a wireless/router/modem eventually and follow some of the contributors suggestions. It was a learning experience. Thanks for helping the new guy.

  6. Thank you everyone for your very valuable suggestions. I am working through all your suggestions and wil get back to you. The first order of business is to re-install Win7. There could have been a problem during the core-load. My work IT guy also suggested removing the 64-bit Win7 that was installed and replace it with 32-bit Win7. He has seen too many problems with 64-bit version. That will also ensure my old notebook and new notebook systems are identical. He also noticed that the company has changed the firewall settings to block unrecognized programs. This could be a contributing factor.

Will get back to you. Thanks again.

No offense, but your 'IT' person doesn't have a clue what they're talking about!

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

No offense taken. I have met enough IT guys with questionable ability. I think the IT guy's point had more to do with the company core load. My company is huge international company, and their core loads are riddled with bugs. They lock out administrative privilages so settings cannot be changed. His point was that the 32-bit core load has been around longer and has better fixes already in place. In general it will help me, whether or not related to my problem.

  8. I have both PC's next to each other. I can do side-by-side comparisons of each setup and configuration screen. I can create log in and password account at the same time, but only the old one will successfully log in. Both PC's are setup the same.

The only difference i know of between both PC's is that the new one does not have an internal modem. This shouldn't matter, because LAN doesn't use an internal modem, but I was wondering if there is some type of communication support missing that is used for ADSL.

  9. My work bought me a nice new Dell Lat E6430 notebook. I was excited until I tried to connect to my Buddy Broadband at home. The login hangs at "Verifying User Name and Password", then it disconnects with a message "Error 691".

    • I have no problems setting up the login ID and password on my 5 yr old LatE6410. The old notebook logs in every time, the new one gives me the error message.
    • I can put both notebooks side by side, compare network settings, they are identical. Automatic IP, and DSN, etc.
    • They both use Windows7.
    • BuddyBB gave me a Speedstream 4200 with LAN cable modem (no USB connection).

BuddyBB was kind enough to tell me my signal is good. My work IT experts are scratching their heads. Microsoft website didn't have any useful info for WIn7. Any ideas from a knowledgeable expert would be greatly appreciated.

  10. OK, you asked for it. Round Table Pizza in California. The best. If only I could find pizza like this in Thailand. Not interested in those Italian style gourmet pizzas with paper thin crust and decorations on top. Give me a meaty, messy, cheesy, pizza to melt in my mouth. A pizza to die for.

  11. The hottest Thai girls go for Thai guys. Period. Hang around the Thai discoteques in Ekamai and take a look at what the Thai guys are getting. Awesome. It's true for every country that they want to date their own. Nothing wrong with that. As foreigners, we are left with what the Thai guys don't want (a few exceptions, of course).

Younger foreigner guys get a lot of action, simpley because they are young and near the same age as the girls they are hitting on. Girls are attracted to that. Makes sense? Also, if you have an outgoing personality, it makes things a whole lot easier. This is true for any country, not just Thailand. It becomes a numbers game. Ask enough girls, and some will say no, and enough will say yes. Keep in mind, not all are stunners. I used to date many girls every week and just found most of them boring and unattractive. It was too much trouble.

  12. Yeah! A baht bus question.

IF you board a bus and they LET you board the bus and you never talked to the driver, you only owe TEN baht.

I am a little surprised by your report because in those scenarios I have never had a driver act like it was a charter fare.

If he did, yes I would toss in the TEN baht and get out of there ASAP because that kind of driver is clearly one of the BAD ones.

I was just as surprised, after all my years in Pattaya and never experiened a problem. Both times were after midnight when half the traffic is empty baht buses. One guy took the coin and threw it at his windshield. All I did was hand him 10baht. I walked backwards and jumped into the nearest soi as quickly as I could.

  13. Due to the overwhelming number of Baht Buses randomly searching for private hire recently, how does one know if you are flagging down a private hire truck or one doing the circular route? It seems the number of buses doing a circular route has decreased and the number of private hire buses have exploded exponentially.

On 2 occasions now I have flagged down a bus, jumped in the back with no questions asked. After jumping out a few blocks down the road, I find myself with an irate bus driver demanding extortion prices. This especially happens late at night when empty busses are everywhere on the streets.

What do the locals do? How can this mistake be avoided? I have been coming to Pattaya for 10 years and never seen it this bad. Is this the beginning of Phuket?

  14. The driver's story doesn't add up to me. I've take a taxi from Central Bangna to On Nut and the fare is usually around 60 baht. If the fare had reached 51 baht by Udomsuk, that is not far off from my expectation. So why would the passenger be so upset over this fare? He probably thought the meter was rigged (which happens), but the numbers don't add up to me.
