  1. It will always be Burma to me. I am not old and am not mist-eyed about its colonial past. Look at why it was changed and why the daft new capital was put where it was and, most importantly, what the people want it known as. Would you be happy if the military of your country took control and started calling it Shytland? Anyway, why the big deal? Do you have lots of time on your hands or summat?

  2. In short though, an unadulterated disgrace that the awful practices are allowed to continue on while the EU pussyfoots around

The Thai overseas fisheries president: most of the stories are not true? Typical. Sanctions right now on Thailand is the only way to sort this. In the meantime, the big companies, like Nestle and John West, should be made to cough up what is owed to the workers -- $35M is F all. Can't see the EU doing much; they're more concerned with bent bananas, 'over-powered' vacuum cleaners and appeasement of wrongdoers. Just weak all round.

As an aside, very sad to see what has happened to Burma; a once great, independent nation having to essentially grovel to the Thais.

  3. If it's a five-year license, believe there is a grace period before renewal... up to a year, unless law has changed, but may depend on province. Don't think you'd have any issue if stopped.

  4. Don't bother with Hatari. Cheap tack and the plastics are very prone to squeaking/clicking, especially on oscillate which is annoying when trying to sleep. One of the best brands is Mitsubishi Electric. Chalk n cheese with Hatari. You'll pay more for a good one but they are solid and last. Whatever you do, avoid going for the cheapest line of any brand. Mitsubishi Electric also make good aircons, the Mr Slim is excellent.

  5. The French are hopeless at things like security, wars and running a country. This tournament is only in its first week and is a shambles already. Awful security, heavy-handed police and no Russian 'fans' held to account. But as long as they send some English down (and deserved for those that step out of line, no doubt), that's the main thing, hey.

  6. Irregardless, this is what happens in backward, barbaric places like this. A woman is raped and gets charged for having one outside marriage. Their whole ethos is that since she went out to drink alcohol and have a good time, she asked for it. She was also fined. Why anyone would ever visit or work there is beyond me. The country would still be in the dark ages without oil. Backward and barbaric. bah.gif

  7. mobile phones and TVs cheaper and same quality as the UK

They must be expensive in the UK then.

I can find much better bargains in France for TVs and more marginally better ones for smartphones.

New Samsungs/iPhones in UK are normal price or cheaper than here. Secondhand ones are dirt cheap since these things are given away on contracts, which you don't get here. White goods are also cheap in UK and I found TVs about the same.
