While the bill tribes continue to sell drugs to tourists every day.Enjoy the rest of your lives in a Thai prison ladies.
Drive to the waterfall on a bike and notice how many locals try to sell you drugs along the way. Been that way for years.
They do that in Pai?
Do those heroin growers also get busted sometimes or are they allowed to grow it?
Pai is drug central for anything they can make or grow in Thailand or Myanmar.
The locals are VERY bold if you drive your scooter around outside the town and on the back roads, with the biggest concentration of them being on the way to the waterfall. It's a gauntlet of drug dealers, mostly female. They try to get your attention as you drive by.
Drugs are everywhere in Thailand. EVERYWHERE! You can get weed, opium, hash, yaabaa, and sometimes herion with very little effort.
Now i understand why my european neece went to Pai and rent a motobike there without license.
I thought all them backpackers go to Pai because it's in the lonely planet and a nice place in the mountains. Never heard of it being a drughole.
Pai is (was) stunning, but the village has grown into a town with lights & all and, yes, you have the scum pushers up the hill. Why Prayut is not sorting this out I do not know. -
Sorry, but I don't see your logic. I have not one iota of sympathy for this cop. He was riding illegally over this dangerous bridge (because he's a cop and thinks he can do anything), he was very likely inebriated and killed his girlfriend as a result. Any sympathy should be directed at truck driver and girls family and friends. The cop should be de-badged, convicted and banged up.The guy just lost his girlfriend and maybe saw when a truck rolled over her body. And there are people who talk about alcohol, speeding and other nonsense?
How do you live with such a tragic accident? And does it turn you on when you write something bad about a guy who's already fragged?

This pair of them are out of touch, not real people. Get back in your jet, buddy.

With that sort of income (pensions?), I'd be flitting between the West and Thailand. It's a great holiday destination but has a knack of wearing you down full time. 64 certainly isn't too old; you could hole up nicely in CM with the millions of other retirees (it isn't what it was in the 90s and noughties) and your wife would have access to good eating and shopping etc. The 12-month trial makes sense, what's to lose?

The ''MOST foreigners are using fake names'' is a big give away.
It is highly unlikely that the majority of foreigners here are on fake documents.
I think thats what theyre trying to do.
Make up a fraud problem and obviously come up with 'the solution' ie more Farangs harassment
Most foreigners involved in Nong Bua Lamphu's fake marriage scam used fake names. How does that equate to most foreigners in Thailand? They're not all out to get us, you know.

A few hundred baht each month paid at the 7-11.
Hardly worth looking how much satang per meter cubed it is.
I can tell you mine is 3,500 satang a cubic meter, which is definitely worth looking at.

Nope, she'd be pissed but is pretty laid-back and wouldn't go off on one like that, and also knows that if she did have an attitude such as this she'd be out the door... not joking. Suggest putting her in her place or a new model.

Asian women also place huge emphasis on dress; wear a pressed shirt and pants (trousers) and smart shoes and see the profound difference from shorts and t-shirt... a smokescreen for ugliness (not that I'm ugly). It's akin to pulling into your moobahn on your motorbike, and subsequently not getting wai'd by the security guards, and then driving in an hour later in your car and getting swooned over, albeit by blokes.

Tempting to say keep your nose out, Barry, but in all likelihood lecturing another country will backfire on him. Imagine a British prime minister patronisingly urging the American people to give up dreams of sovereignty and remain in a united North America, lest it goes to the back of queue on trade? Yuck!

What's up with 2016 and big deaths? RIP

If Phrayut truly wants to clean up the place, this is the type of stuff he has to hammer down hard. Big fines (tens of thousands) and custodial sentences followed by loss of face through hi-waiing public apologies.

No penalty for those who have been diagnosed mentally ill. This is intended to cut down suicides by those who are just a bit depressed. As I've said before, depression isn't mental illness.
Besides, nobody would be fined as such. The tax would be paid out of the deceased's estate - it just means that those who inherit get less.
And as someone has pointed out, suicides can have a public cost - all that cleaning up, inquests etc. A tax seems entirely reasonable to me.
And what of those who have not been formally diagnosed?
You were doing ok until 'depression isn't a mental illness' but there is just so much wrong with your flippant comments.
All I will say is this; while jumping off buildings and in front of trains might not be the right way to go, if you or any of the other dolts nonchalantly berating them could share their pain for just one day (people suffer for years on end without respite), you would likely be looking for the nearest window yourselves. In fact, I think everyone should have the privilege; you know, just to spread the burden a bit... it'd certainly separate the men from the boys, and there are lots of them on this thread it seems.
Btw, depression is a mental illness; being down, a bit off-colour or I'm feeling a little depressed today is not!

So this is thee 1st world system you all tell about your civilized system you wish was in Thailand !!!!!! What a joke
Democracy and human right's laws decree that he must be treated humanely irrespective of the crimes he committed!!
Indeed, disgusting as it is and we'd all like to see him burn, he is appealing to the law and so would anyone else in his shoes. Other murderers in the same prison are doubtless on 22-hour lock-down. / That's the last thing he wants because he won't die a martyr then.

Any chance of expanding the current offering of three tiny loaves of bread?
Forgive me for being a typical whiny 'expat', but, other than by name, the Tesco here is in no way, shape or form comparable with its UK mother, which in itself is considered bottom of the rung.

My wife used to work as a translator and she was paid 50,000B a month for a 5 day work week.
We pay the workers in our factory 320B a day for a 12hr day, which includes lunch and sometimes dinner.
Our maid is paid 8000B a month.
When the wife needs farm help she pays 200B a day, which most of the time are Cambodians.
A welder we pay 600-800B day depending on the job and the experience of the guy.
Hope this helps.
A realistic example for ballpark skilled/unskilled pay here. Paying over the odds often lends the employee free-rein to act above their station.
Regards an English-speaking PA-type role, however, short of taking on a girlfriend and all the potential hassle/baggage/madness that implies, I think op will need to dig deep.

Couple tight matches so far; Bingham/Carter esp. Shame to see Shaun Murphy out in first round, Robertson also. Would like to see Ricky Walden do well this year. Dunno about Ronnie, all depends if he can keep his head, not quite firing right in his first round match.

'To further honour your proud island of exiled British degenerates' haha, love it! Most Aussies probably wouldn't see the humour as they're so far up themselves... but wait, exiled British degenerates also goes for USA too doesn't it? [emoji3]Funny!
The original video was superb; that Aussie politician (Joyce was it) mocking him for his 'performance' was so far out of his depth, he couldn't see Depp was taking the piss. A class act.

I think you must be. Any idea what year it is?I am so out of touch. I had no idea who either of these 'personalities' were when I saw the story. If he's an actor then I've missed all his films.

I thought Thailand's star snooker player had been banged up for a minute. [emoji39]

Probably not as popular nowadays (and likely rarely sung at karaoke), but I always liked Tai Thanawut's Mai Som Suk Sri, used for a TV show a few years back.

Nows the time to invoice for that website. 1000 baht an hour spent + any maintenance, hosting and registry costs. I am not kidding; don't be a doormat!

Overloading?, hot weather, fridge old, dodgy seals, losing gas, compressor on its way out, problem with power supply (are lights dimmer?)...

Chasing Mai?
Haven't been there for a bit, but Suthep Rd (behind uni) tended to have cheap digs, where the students stay. Bit noisy, but.
