  1. NZ is a Western nation and if there was a full-on exchange of strategic warheads it would not be spared, since Putin/Xi despise everything West and would want all main infrastructure gone. Only way you'd survive is if you're well out of the way in somewhere like Oz and are self-sufficient. You would then need to fight off your fellow countrymen because it would be pretty much dog eat dog. Just as well hole up here, but I'm with Charlie... pick yourself a good spot on a hill with a beer near a major city and watch them suckers come in!

  2. In a pool hall, we'll aim for about 55% rel humidity. Start going below 50% and it pulls too much water out of the pool, makes people feel rough and overburdens the equipment. The hot, compressed gas coming out the compressor for the drying process exacerbates the above issue.

    Does it say why?

Is it bad for your health?

Yep, it'll dry you out too much and you'll wake up with a mouth tasting like a ferret slept in it. Only ever have my aircon set to 29, 28 at the lowest, which is enough to get the humidity down to around 55-60% and zap excessive heat. The actual temp coming out of the thing is super-low.

    I hate driving in Thailand....

Barring the immense traffic nowadays, commuting and the obvious bizarre shenanigans that one routinely witnesses on Thai roads, I generally enjoy driving here. Have done many road trips over the years (bikes and cars) and greatly enjoy it when compared with the angst and utter boredom of driving back home in the 21st century.

THE GLOBETROTTING PRIME MINISTER Srettha Thavisin has been given a sum of 139 million baht in government funding at his disposal with which he may travel the world over for the current fiscal year, according to a government official.

The 139 million baht in funding was primarily earmarked for planned expenditure of the Pheu Thai-backed prime minister’s official trips overseas throughout fiscal 2024 for reported purposes of propagating and promoting Thailand’s potentials in international trade, investment and tourism.

Of that total, an estimated 68 million baht in funding for the real estate mogul-turned-prime minister’s official world tours has been contributed by the Board of Investment, an agency attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, said the official attached to Government House who only spoke on condition of anonymity.

Did Emmanuel not do the honour of mentioning that he still had his bath towel wrapped around his neck?

Is this the same guy who was humping a motorcycle seat, months ago?

A Thai guy was caught touching up my bike seat a while back in full view of the restaurant proprietor and customers. He actually worked there and had been on the yaba by all accounts and didn’t know what he was doing. They called his brother to take him away. Poor fella.

Pattaya is by far the worst place in Thailand.

It is even worse than Phuket.

Agree, Bob. I went there for the last time around 2022/23. Never again. It was a laugh as a young un for a couple nights, but to live there? each to their own and there are nice areas around and about, for sure, and some very nice moobahns etc. But Pattaya proper (i.e. the beach etc) is a proper S hole.

  8. 300?! I hope they chuck in a pretty for that! I’d go 100 but it’d have to be direct. None of this up and down twice lark. That is akin to a long road trip and changing gears all day. Go auto and go direct every time. Emrats is of course good, bar the shopping mall visit, but I’d go EVA biz.

  9. What a donkey. Perhaps smiling donkey’s mate? Embrace it, old dude. Why would these airports be on such a list? It would hardly be vindictive. We are not allowed to do stuff like that in the west anymore. Perhaps, shock horror, those airports really are poor? These things are based on criteria like average queue length (lol), immigration effectiveness (lol), facilities (mmm), duty free (lol), gates & buses (lol) etc etc. Don Mueang is ancient and Suvarnabhumi was always unfinished. Neither is a hub and neither is fantastical.

Some of these vip buses charge 700 or 800 baht and take 10 to 12 hours versus 1200 baht for a plane ticket.

That’s a short hop. Try booking say Hat Yai to Chiang Mai near a holiday. Could be 5 or 6 grand. Relatively speaking, that is a lot and the airlines rake it in. They know what they’re doing.

  11. Folks feeling there’s a conspiracy against farangs because of the spotlight on cases like this need their head read. We’ll all probably be looked on in a lesser light because of the actions of a few, but first and foremost what this nutcase has done is cowardly and disgusting. Let the prick consider his actions (hitting defenceless women is the lowest of the low) in a nice Thai prison for a few years, then send him right back to his home country along with a permanent Thai blacklist.
