  1. Thai numbers go round and round. If you let your sim go for a certain amount of time--say, go back home for a year--pretty sure it ends up back in circulation after a time. So, it could be some old acquaintance of Somchai Bloggs or daeng or kiaw or dam or porn or whoever, who had your number before just checking up on them/you.

It sounds like Spain doesn't want the Brits anymore.

Yeh, right. They have been filling up Spanish coffers for decades. Not all Brits are lager louts. There is also middle and upper classed gentry hitting the resort towns, suppin sweet malaga wine while staying in expensive villas. Same for the Germans, across all classes. Millions go there to chill and spend money. Portugal, too. Maybe some devout Catholic mayor has been whispering tat in someone's ear, but this is more likely sensationalist tabloid fluff.

  3. The Doi Angkhang loop, as mentioned by PoorSucker, is nice. A night in Chang Dao, two at Angkhang... you could cut across to your 'sticky' falls (assuming you mean Bua Thong) on the way back. You could also do the MHS loop in that kind of time, but a lot more arduous driving/riding. Much better on a bike, esp a scrambler type with hybrid tyres.

  4. Cringe. Who wrote this? A couple of festivals does not a global festival hub make. They’ve always done this. The word hub means less when Thai governments and their backers use it; either misunderstanding its actual meaning or just talking up nationalistic twaddle, which is a third world trait when overused. Thailand, along with Singapore, might be a hub for flights into the SEA region, but is not a global air hub etc etc.

  5. Many folk loving up to China here and likening them and Russia as the good guys. Get a grip! This pair would bury you or have you and your way of life in chains given half a chance. Their people utterly despise their leadership. The US is no Mary Poppins, no country is (no not even Switzerland with all its dubious Nazi gold), but if they were truly a force for the bad we would all be screwed.

It would be great for the peoples of both China and Russia to wake up, eviscerate their leaders and get their countries back. But they are utterly under the thumb plus there is too much apathy. Dunno if Xi will bury himself but most of the rhetoric there is for domestic consumption and to keep his people in line. And yes, the place is in a bind economically. Can’t see them ever attacking Taiwan. China’s military is a bit of a paper tiger and they’d be in for a surprise when the Taiwanese fight back hard. What’s China gonna do then, lob a nuke over? I don’t think so.

    no one really cares.

Indeed. Once in a while, this guy—in one guise or another—can post something of interest. But, today, this ain’t it.

And, what humour? There’s really only one group that has a proper handle on it in this world. Much of the time, to others, it is so convoluted that it goes over their heads.

  7. Probably a bit of a setup... they were recently on a podcast together and a bit pally for my liking. If for real, Mike is still a beast and could probably KO him within the first few rounds, but would struggle to go the distance methinks. Yeah, I'd walk in there for that kind of money. Aside from having your head knocked off, why wouldn't you?

  8. Thailand is still well priced on the dental front. I wouldn't even research it too much, aside from finding a good dentist, since there are so many of them and rates are normally similar. Private is at least double gov hospitals, but you can just waltz in off the street and potentially have a pair of pliers in your mouth within minutes. Yes, that's a good thing. 🙂

What a morbid topic to start the day with...

Everyone should think about it because everyone will do it... die.

50's is too young to retire , you need to be doing something

hmmm. Yes and no, but not work for another! I would have retired in my 40s if hadn't missed a couple glaring opportunities, now rued. There is so much to do with one's own time, and it certainly shouldn't be to make someone else rich, which I will not do anymore. Reading, music and the arts, travel, exercise, sports, voluntary work, hobbies, building, investing, etc etc. That someone equates not being retired as 'having' to work and to use up their precious time because there's nothing else to do (usually for an employer that uses you and doesn't care about you), quite frankly I find bizarre and unimaginative.

I've known of quite a few folks that live frugally but are minted and have no-one else. I mean, to what end? Why did you give up all your time to accrue that sh!t to not reap the reward and enjoy freedom? Spend it, ffs, before it's too late!

Very cute but obviously a pig of a woman on the inside. Response should be swift. Just fast-track these undesirables out. Hoping a farang performs a high profile good deed soon (a headbutt to Takki or the smiling donkey would do it) to offset some of this bad press.
