  1. I bought some Malaysiangrass. Just layed it down during the hot season and against advice put it down without fertilizer or scratching up the land. I just threw it down and stamped on it. Suprisingly, it spread like wildfire. And I have the worst land possible for anything to grow. Grows best in shaded areas. My friends said it would choke out the other weeds, but unfortunatly, my weeds seem to be much stronger and are now taking back the land, no matter how fast I de-weed. If you don't have much of a weed problem, Malaysian grass is a good and cheap grass to go with. It even went through my driveway. But it will be over taken by other weeds. I have a particular weed. I don't know what it's called. It is like a vine along the ground. It has a yellow flower and takes over everything. Not a bad looking weed, but no poison will kill it. The locals say, once you have it, it's yours for life. Good luck. I would say go with Malaysian.

That sounds like the dreaded japanese knotweed. Wide oval leaves and cream yellow flowers.

In uk you can be imprisoned for having it,

So invasive can penetrate concrete foundations. I remember on housing development we found some whilst excavating. Had to dig out an area 10m around where it was found to ensure the rhizomes hadn't travelled.

The plant had to be burnt and all supervised by licences operators.

It had almost the same respect as asbestos.

But on a positive note....the plant if edible and used for medicinal purposes.

Not that you would want to try that claim.

  2. Air con units are sold as a combo....internal and external unit and as such they are compatible with each other.

Why connect old to new, fittings, pipes, connections could be different.

That aside you will for sure compromise any warranty.

All the suppliers will arrange fitting, the siam, global, home pro and the like.

Remember from now onwards these guys are going to be extremely busy.....aside from a million condos to fit out, so book early.

Discounts....I guess the last 4 months was the best time when no one was buying aircon and the fitters were redundant.

  3. I bought the bagged cow poo last month in desperate bid to get my veggies to grow higher than 8inch.

My long beans and fak thong for example start off very promising and then die back.

The neighbours meanwhile are 5 foot high.

actually not sure the best time to be growing stuff.

  4. I actually enquired about them myself last week.

they come in several colours....brown,blue or green!.

Most are 4m wide and they pull out 2.1m

Two materials plastic or canvass. Plazzy are 3800bt and canvass 5100bt

The plazzy ones though are far inferior and a good wind will rip them.

    Canvass ones to go for.

If you want 3m wide also an option.

I didn't go to the place opposite Global but the guy I saw could well be working on behalf of them.

Will pass his number on if you so desire.

  5. Give it a rest n.j.

Its probably only day one.....I remarked on it today as I was on the bike all day.

You see people wearing masks when it gets going proper and at the moment not many wearing them.

What's the big panic anyway, long termers know exactly when to head south if they desire, and its not now.

  6. Nice shop, bit like Habitat in the UK! Some quality gear in there!

I presume you're being sarcastic here. Went to Index a couple of weeks ago and was less than impressed. OK if your style is plastic and chipboard. Pricey in comparison to Homepro and Baan and Beyond too.

I like the place; it reminds me of Ikea, as a lot of the packaging is identical. I only go there once a year and like Promenada always empty. A shame really as it would do very well in another locale......but it survives???

A lot of funky gear there that you dont see at Home pro or Baaan and beyond, and i didnt think was over expensive.

Upstairs however is a different level alltogether and i managed to skate around the whole floor in double quick time after I clocked a few prices.

  7. If you got it I suggest you change your name to Walrus Willy.

You will know if you have it. Small open blisters on the foreskin and bell end. Painful, burning like sensation.

Easily treatable and returns in stressful situations maybe once a year.

Do not have sex with anyone until you are clear......if you have an outbreak you will not be able to even if you want to.

    Good luck.

  8. You could try the lady who makes them.
Go just around bikers corner on moat and next door to the bicycle shop a very uninviting unit.
They make yoga mats, massage mats to whatever size you want.
At the back she has different size mats, different thicknesses and even with own bag.
She made thai massage mats for me, cheap reliable and super quality.

  9. My cynical view is that a lot of the developments are a way of laundering money and to keep it from the taxman.

So those dodgy characters who acquired through corruption can quickly offload it into development so they have minimal liquid assets.

So actually I suppose many don't care because there was never a loan, mortgage debt against the property.

You can already smell the anti corruption lobbyists making a stand....and with china pulling out of the one billion tons of rice deal with Thailand recently because of their own anti corruption ideals then Thailand will have to clean up its act.

Just my theory.....everyone cannot be as stupid as the Promenade developers......can they?

  10. What sounds are echoing?

In a domestic environment soft furnishings, curtains, cushions, sofa, wall pictures absorb sound.

Or is it music studio where the need for sound insulation or acoustics is necessary

Sorry if this sounds obvious but some questions asked on here by uneducated 5yr olds.

  11. What a fantastic resource of ideas and information TV is.

We know everything about everything, with only a hundred or so regular posters we could tell businesses where to set up, what to sell, how to succeed.

    And for free!

But as we know, Thai's listening to farangs advice......will never happen.

  12. Location location location

    Every Brit knows this phrase.

Its your key to selling your house, increasing property value and running a successful business.

It was key in my initial business set up, but did promenada consider it.

I have never been there, the reason.....I don't live there, Its too far when 4 malls are nearer to most people, and the negative comments on here, what's to go for?

Who are their customers, maybe the few expats living within 5 minutes, certainly tourists will not go, and those hundreds of new houses allegedly bought by the Bang Cocky ones...well they don't live here so why shop.

Sad but if the rats are already leaving the sinking ship then you don't want to be Wallace Hartley with his violin do you.

  14. Good architecture doesn't exist when the building going up is built for profit or economy as a business.

The new build moo baans fall into "built for profit" and the faceless commercial buildings are built as economical as possible.

Traditional detailing gets lip service on moo baans, well certainly the cheaper end.

You will however see some fantastic design and detailing on individually built plots and the large private hotel or restaurant chains, where the design is actually their advertising aswell.

But its no different to anywhere else in the world, if you have the money then you can have your own unique design.

Isn't that the top of the tree status symbol for most people.
