Do immigration photocopy for you or you have to do it yourself elsewhere? I find it's a hassle to photocopy each time and the time to wait.

They will do all the photocopying at the airport.....but they charge a 100bt fee for forgetful individuals who turn up unprepared with no photocopies, no application form and just a panicked begging look on your face.

    Like I did last time.

One lantern probably won't do much harm but 30-50 lanterns will certainly cause damage to the engine or block the viewscreen of the pilot's cockpit when the plane is trying to land.

Look at the first picture, there are so many lanterns close to each other.

Absolute rubbish. The chances of even 2 finding their way into the engines is slim to improbable.

a plane doesnt need two engines also.

And getting stuck on the windshield again impossible, how? ...a plane flies itself these days.

Anyway it doesnt really matter until next year

  3. What would be worst case scenario? A lantern getting sucked into an engine on take off or like every other airport in the world having to deal with birds.

Never heard of an accident occuring from either.

The biggest risk, as occurred two years ago was high winds taking those burning candles onto properties, power lines etc starting fires.

Yet another small rule introduced to drive chiang mai off the tourist map....its one thing after another here.

  4. Global sells excellent pre cut with a needle point spike square steel pieces.

In varying lengths from 150mm to 300mm.

At first i thought thry were setting out pins but realised they were actually spikes and "S" loops for making railings.

I bought halfa dozen just because i knew they would be useful for something...17/20bt each i think.

    10mm square section.

  5. If there is a wall there already you need to establish who it belongs to and on which side of the wall is the boundary line.

I had to build my boundary wall inside the neighbours post and wire fence on two sides.

I wasnt overly pleased when a week after i finished, they removed their  crappy fence.

  6. Well, people need to park at the 7/11 then nip over the road.

Millions and millions spent on new highway design and its all a complete cluster...

That road around the maya....3 yrs completed, and orange cones and concrete barriers still not finished. Traffic entering the fast road via the exit lane, the overhead traffic lights to th e olde Wat junctuon still there. Not even a way off the road to turn left into the city.

  7. Are you wanting to know where they make the komloys?...and sell them?

The epicentre, or an epicentre I know where many households in the village are making them all year around is behind the road tax office.

If you take the soi immediately adj the tax office OR the soi adj the Esso garage 200m along they both converge at a Wat.

Many houses behind there with ladies hard at it all day and night......

  8. If your walls and paint are still in a reasonable condition (and you are just sprucing up) then no preparation is needed.....just a new tub of emulsion and your rollers.

If you are selling then no need to go to town on it, new property buyers make it a pre requisite that repainting walls puts their stamp on it.

Drop sheets here are hit and miss, they stock up once in 5 yrs it seems. You can be lucky and get the very fine guage polythene which will literally cover a sofa, but otherwise just get some clear polythene 3mx2m or 4mx3m polythene sheet, home pro do sell these.

I prefer the blue and white tarpaulin style as an all purpose dust sheet as i can use it multiple times as it doesnt tear.

    Why is MPa rubbish?

Not sure how long MPa has been around but as a Brit we favour Newtons as the unit of strength......pretty much like the Americans still favour feet and inches when the rest of the worlrd went metric in 1971

The point about it being rubbish, is that you are not going get very far when you walk into your concrete plant and ask for 40mpa mix after 28days.

But....maybe there are some forward thinking light bulbs here

And tell me, do you ignore all that cubic metre malarky and just order a 'big pile' or a "little pile" of material from the yard when you need some? ????

And don't get me started on tape measures. What a farce they are!

    dont be pathetic.

And do you go an order concrete here in megapascals, of course you dont.

If you ever order concrete here my numbers are what they need to know and the strength it arrives at.

  11. Forget all that megapascals rubbish, strength (steng) are measured as 180,200,210,240,280,300,320 etc

For general concreting a weaker 180 or less is the way to go

For columns and structural beams 200-240 is normal

And high strength work, bridges, multi storey etc then 300-400

Higher the strength often a much higher proportion of cement.

I have a list from my local yard which has at least 20 different mixes and strengths for different situations.

  12. I have a Stiebel 6kw still going after 9 years.

I have a second Stiebel 6kw currently on its 4th year.

I have a crappy panasonic literally outside exposed to elements and it too be going 9 years.

We bought a 2nd hand Mazuma just for hand wash, still going after 3 yrs

And finally have a new mazuma 4kw running two years.

Cant believe I have five. The only thing I have ever had to do is to clean the filter inside the old Stiebel about 6 yrs ago.

So I think they are pretty resilient

  13. I bought a load 8 yrs ago from the small artificial Plant area superhighway past Tesco, just past chang puak where Nim transport is.

Told me they were imported from Germany and quite expensive for twigs.

But still perfect all these years later, even twigs are German engineered,
