  1. I made a couple of transactions early in 2013 for which the paperwork I usually keep has vanished. I need to find out the account name and numbers for these transactions. Neither the bank book nor the online records contain this information.

The branches said they couldn't help and told me to contact the call centre. The call centre was able to give me the name and contact details for the branch. When I ring the branch they tell me that if I want the information, I have to show up in person. The problem is the branch is in Bangkok and I'm Chiang Mai. I asked if I could fax copies of passport, bank book etc - no go. I asked if I could send a representative - no go.

Has anyone been in this situation and found a way around?

  2. A farang friend needs regular blood tests done to monitor the levels of certain hormones over a period of about 3 months. Has anyone found any of the hospitals/labs to be cheaper than the rest? I wouldn't expect there to be much variation but given that he is on a budget and will need to monitor around 3 hormones every 2 weeks it's worth seeing if some money can be saved.

Send me a private message if you prefer.

  3. One way to do it is to put in to Google Translate (English to Thai) 'Western Food'. Take the Thai translation and put it in YouTube search box. Example channel I found was FoodTravelTVChannel.

//Edit - looks like the video is not playing on TV so click on Watch on Youtube.

Thanks for that. Yes there are strategies for digging these things up using the Thai keywords. I asked on this forum because I hoped that someone would recommend a channel they thought was quite good (as opposed to me using the above method and finding something good by trial and error). Cheers.

  4. Funny coincidence, second helium balloon thread in three days.

I suggest you better get in contact with a specialist shop and ask about the opportunities.

I doubt they will rent a full size helium gas cylinder.

  5. One of our floor fans is an oddball brand (Caribbean) so it's hard to find a replacement blade. A shop with a big range would probably improve my chances.

It would be easier just to buy a new fan but chucking out a fan just because a small part is broken doesn't sit will well with my desire to environmentally friendly...

BTW I live close to Phantip Plaza

  6. I want to rent a clutch bike for a while to get the hang of the whole clutch-foot-throttle coordination.

Can anyone recommend a rental shop that has small (scooter sized) clutch bikes? I've seen plenty of large clutch bikes for rent but no small ones yet.

  7. maybe i miss read your post thought you were looking for a replacement LAPTOP adapter(transformer) to plug into mains. 19 volt 3-4 amp output.if you are that shop does have them. looks like the same ones that come with your laptop. plastic box approx the size of 2 cigarette box... have a look there if thats what your looking for thay have em. i bought one there 19volt as well a month or so ago...

Yes, your previous post shows a photo of a power supply. A power bank is basically an external battery that can plug into multiple devices (phones, tables, laptops) to recharge the device's internal battery. Serves as an alternative to carrying around a power supply or where mains power is not easily available.

take your old one with you.

or Amorn shop on the moat by computer plaza usually has em.. little more money there 1-300 more...

Seems impossibly cheap.. Perhaps you are thinking of a power supply that connects to the mains?

  9. Does anyone have experience with non-stick cookware purchased in Thailand that is better than the stuff that comes with most cheap pans (I'm talking about the dark brown PTFE coating)? This stuff is easily scratched even when washing it, can burn and in my experience despite being 'non-stick', food sticks to it very easily

Provided it's a high standard of non-stick AND it is durable I'm not too worried about the expense.
