So basically he got 65% of the people's voted in MP's and is blocked not by the 35% of who people voted in to oppose him, but the people who were never voted in. Speaks volumes about Thai democracy.

Considering years later they are still doing it I'd say they are just wasting their time or it is not working. Thailand needs two years of complete 'no collar, no life' policy to eradicate soi dogs and potential rabies.

This is actually why ALL politicians should range in age of 40-65 only, have atleast 15-20 years of work history behind them and also be limited to 2 terms of office only as an MP. Its the jobs for life merry go round that keeps them there.

These polls are nonsense. I can pretty much guarantee that if your money could buy you the same amount anywhere else in the world as in Thailand, Thailand would be ranked in the 50's. Thailand is cheap and has lots of cheap totty , that is why it is ranked highly

Hypothetically, what is to stop Pita and his backers just saying he is the PM without the backing of the senators and taking the parliament building ? Saying that the military senators are irrelevant and his 300 odd votes is 60 off % of the populations votes. Would the senators call in the military to stop it - would there be another coup ? Would this action be seen as the old dictatorship being forcefully deposed ? Would it force a 'defence of democracy coup by the same self serving military' ? As for non voters, I think the law should be changed that non voters should reduce the number of people in any vote. If you need say 301 on a vote to win and 150 senators do not vote then you can win on 301 as the voting pot has been reduced from 750 to 600 !

I think they should call the military appointed senators bluff here and nominate a military backed candidate to see if the military appointed senators can be bothered to vote. If they get up to vote for the military candidate (and lose) then we will know 100% that they are just waiting for a military candidate and blocking democracy.
