  1. ohhh what happy news!!!! he is alive! but very disturbing the horror he went through :( but he was found again, that is like a miracle! good on your people that they made so much effort which lead to success.

tiny dogs and other pretty pure breds are in danger of being abducted/stolen unfortunately as it seems. so they need extra safety watch and alertness. i never let my tiny dogs alone even in the garden outside when i'm not around. of course they are nosy as can be and lots of harmful critters around.

the tiny dogs are of big personality and wit. can imagine your huge grief and now so happy relief.

here is my little darlin knopfi, he is also a special character ;) could not stand to have anything happened to him. i got him from a petshop where he spent 5 months in a tiny cage no one ever interested in buying him. maybe mainly because he had mange then and his skin was rather pink. with all my dogs, he is the little star ;)

all the best for kadan and no more dangerous adventures for him!

  2. thanks, it really might be an oligodon purpurascens, found another pic where the snake is more red like the one i found.

we have here all kinds of snakes, mainly the green tree snakes and brown ratsnakes or radiated rat snakes. but also coral snakes and pythons.

once i went in a pickup taxi on the hilly road to tong nai pan yai in the dusk hour when the taxi suddenly stopped because of a king cobra crossing the road. it sat there head up and looked at us, about 5m long. very spooky and i was scared to death ;) we had to wait for it to continue its walk and so did a few motorbikes which approached. after about 5 mins the cobra went on in the jungle and everyone laughed and joked relieved.. before there were minutes of complete silence. will never forget that and als the taxi driver was in sweat and called me to sit in the cabin from now with him ;)

  3. oh man i feel so sorry for your dog, as he cannot walk at all :)

thank you for taking so good care of the strays around your factory and especially this one!!

i would take him in (with your support for his food/medicine) and give him good care, but i don't know where you are and if he could go on a flight??

if he would come to me i would put his story on my website and also update you on his life with pictures as often as you wish. maybe there is a way to improve his condition?

  4. hi cuban, i agree with your post, but the last bit i cannot confirm at all. i got many dogs with handicaps and the other dogs will not treat them differently or even attack them because of that. they are integrated in the packs as any other dog, it is as the other dogs would not even notice that these dogs are 'different'. i can even say that all the handicap dogs are more socialized and have more friends, play, cuddle more than some of the other 'normal' or intact dogs.

as i don't see much hope for a good rehoming for beerdogs dog, i wonder if he would be willing to pay at least for food if the dog got a good place and care...

  5. phone no of suvannachad animal hospital 027295706 they speak good english.

ask for dr pornpan as she is the specialist for bone problems. saw an old german shepherd there which had hip surgery previously and was treated with massages and lasertherapy after.

    good luck.

there is a manufacturer for dog-wheelchairs in bkk, he will measure your dog first and check his needs before making the wheelchair. suvannachad can contact there for you.

  6. for effective surgery/treatment you will have to go to bangkok. try suvannachad animal hospital, they have also therapeutic facilities like lasertherapy, massages, swimming etc.

also the university clinics like chulalongkorn worth a try. maybe you make a trip to bangkok and visit these hospitals/doctors and see where to go from there and which treatment to do. good luck.

  7. beautiful, healthy golden retriever puppies looking for new homes.

    5 months young, fully vaccinated.

if you are interested to give one or two of them a good home as new family member(s), please send pm for further details and pictures.

also beautiful and loving mix puppies, 6 months, fully vaccinated and available to good homes after being neutered next week.

  8. i feed my dogs 'rishy' since many years, which is the best i have found in the 500bt range. puppies and sick/old ones get royal canin. every day the dogs get raw beef bones (meaty ones and also the big ones) or raw chickencarcasses, and some days they get beef intestines. sometimes mixed with coconut meat, each day other dogs get my 'leftovers'. occasionally they get mackerel or fishoil capsules.

strong and healthy dogs, white teeth also in old age and shiny fur :) easy feeding and good.

  9. and.... in many states of the US there are killing 'shelters' which gas tens of millions of dogs each year. because there is no money spent to shelter them for a period of time, no money spent to enforce laws to control breeding. people rather buy a cheap (mostly sick) puppy from the puppymills instead of taking one from the shelter or organizations.

as long as business thrives.... :)

  10. sorry to disturb your nice picture, but there are more and more pure breed dogs which roam the streets and are neglected, get run over by cars, end up in shelters etc...

in most european countries there are many strays to be found and overcrowded shelters with horrible conditions and also killing-shelters. even in the european countries where you won't find many strays there are lots of shelters and organizations which care for abandoned dogs and are trying to find homes for them.

  11. spot on loganberry!!!

i cringe with every new 'bred' dog i see/hear of. from my experience i doubt it is 30% at all that the dogs will land in caring forever homes who will give them the necessary secure surroundings, attention and time, proper food and won't stop their commitment if the dog causes problems with neighbors, vet bills rise or if it comes to neutering/castration. also the dog is rarely included in changing plans of lifestyle or -situations. it is easier and more fun to get rid of it or get a new cute puppy instead!

unfortunately dogs and other pets are mostly for a reason, like a present, prestige, toy etc and the necessary commitment, specific care and effort and love it brings with it is mostly overlooked...

in my view, producing and making money out of dogs is immoral, if you see them as a life companion and not as throw-away product.

breeding of pure breeds should have strict regulations, concerning genetics, breeding conditions and amount of puppies produced per year. also the price should be set high for the 'quality' the new owners want and get.

picking/rescuing a dog from the streets is usually more rewarding than buying one from a farm, in terms of vet bills, food bills, longevity, and also most of the times more fun.

buying/searching for certain - sometimes 'exotic' - breeds, makes one wonder what people see in a dog... if they have no eye for the many dogs in need in their neighborhood or in the shelters. most breeds cannot be satisfied here, climate-wise or working-wise as there is not enough possibilities and knowledge for training and work-outs.

of course there are also many dog owners who love their dog forever and do everything for it, it would be too sad if not, but they are too few and the dogs out there too many......

  12. bina is right, unfortunately... having to give away a beloved pet is always horrible. you would not trust many people to care good enough and forever for it... that is also a problem i have... and also when i read stories like this one, life circumstances change often and the pet is not suitable anymore... not intended, but happens indeed very often. many of my dogs come from such background...

the op surely has considered all options, but a single, working man often does not have enough time to spend at home with his dog...

  13. many dogs here tend to have skin problems. especially at puppy age or old age. it is a sign that they fight with other disease or the immunity is too low. also if the dog is weakened by intestinal worms it lowers the immunity shield.

usually raw diet plus high quality dogfood, multivitamin, helps. also, if severe like itching and wounds, loss of most hair, creams and tonics work well. if the dog ist older than 5 months i would try ivermec injections or amitraz dips.

be patient and don't give up, sometimes it can take a while, especially if the dog does not suffer from severe itching and if no strong medication is used. usually the dogs will be over it after maturing at about one year age. spaying also helps, as it will keep the production of hormons down which also causes some dogs to imbalance of immunity.
