  1. So a group of us that post on here have bought a property in central Bangkok that will be set up as a members only bar/ club/ place to relax in, that will be family friendly also.

Its a 3 storey building with a roof top area which will become the rooftop bar. This is accessible by elevator.

Each level has balconies for smokers.

So our question is, what should each level be themed as?

Kind of boring if each level is just another place to sit, or eat, or drink etc.

    Any original ideas out there?

  2. That's what forums are for .. I'm also on a football one , and all that happens there is moaning too .. It's somewhere to vent your spleen..

Nobody else will listen , esp her indoors ..

Everybody loves to moan , we wouldn't want it any other way ... Do people really want to hear about the nice dinner I had last night ? Or the beautiful scenery I was looking at on Tuesday , my mothers coming over next month ? .... No we want to hear about your misfortunes , or something that's wrong ( so we can avoid or prepare for it ) ..

    So in effect, misery sells?

  3. The OP makes the same mistake every other person bleating on about other people expressing concern or negative views about issues around living in Thailand.

He assumes these views are expressed out of hatered.

Where in truthe they are far more often expressed out of frustration, disappointment, misunderstanding (in bothe directions across the cultural divide) and often out of a genuine concern over an issue (most notably expressed by parents concerned for the future of their children facing serious failngs in Thai soviety).

What the OP fails to understand is TVF is one of the very few places expats in Thailand can discuss life in Thailand.

Thus raising the importance that people can air their concerns.

The OP also misses a point of human psychology.

If he were genuinely happy with his own life in Thailand, the viws of others, no matter how negative would not concern him in the very least.

Fair fukcs to that, except you assumed more than you know.

I don't live there. Never have, but if I wondered how is life as an expat in Thailand? Then read this forum, I'd be hard pressed to make an ultimately life changing decision and move there (Thailand). At least I'd think hmm, maybe not the best place to be full time going on what the huge number of posters say on here.

    Just sayin'

  4. So I'm a regular at a bar/restaurant/ hotel in Issan.

Nice place, great food, then around 8pm the restaurant becomes a karaoke bar. Mostly locals if not all except for the odd out of towner like myself.

I'd met this guy several times, friendly hello's, usual chit chat.

So last night he's in there again. This time he brought our table a round of beers, which ok, that's fine, but raised my suspicion.

Maybe an hour later I'm walking back from the toilets, down the corridor, and there he is. He stops me.

I knew he was local police from friends I was with.

Anyway, we get chatting, I thanked him for the beers, he says no problem, anytime.

Then he says, which spooked me, hey ,if you need anyone gone bang, you pay me 100k and (hand gesture wave bye bye) they gone.

    I was speechless.

Scary stuff, maybe he was setting me up, but I'm not sure he was.

    Any thoughts?

  5. Think having a falang dad would mean she is very likely to have dealings with the west later in life. And knowing western thinking, it wouldn't help her being called Porn...

my lawyer was called Siriporn, pronounced Silly Porn... which I must admit made me chuckle at first meeting

  6. You think expats are bad? Sheesh, you should meet my wife.

Her favorite term is "MOMS" = Monkeys on Motorbikes.

    Hates the Junta.

    Hates yellow shirts.

Thinks Thaksin is a lying crook.

Thinks all silver mini van drivers are high on yabba and M-150, and should all be banned from driving for life.

Thinks all big bus drivers have the IQ of a buffalo.

Thinks "emotional maturity" of Thai men stops at the age of 10 (except for her son, of course).whistling.gif

Thinks the majority of falang men just come here for sex (except for me, of course) biggrin.png

Thinks someone should drop about 50 bombs each on Phuket and Pattaya.

Thinks every Thai with the rank of General (or equivalent), both Police and Military, should be rounded up, have all their assets seized, and then put in prison for life.

Hates Chinese with a passion (despite the fact that she's half Chinese herself.)

Thinks most Thai in Bangkok live in a fantasy world and don't have a clue as to what life is all about.

And those are just SOME of her "pet peeves". cheesy.gif

Welcome to the "see what I'm saying" list.

  7. Mine would be the kow tom she makes.

Delicious even at dinner time. Its been my daughter's main dish since she was eating solids.

She makes it more like stew consistency than soup. Usually with fish in it, always fed daughter salmon, and a variety of veges and egg. Yum.

What's your partner make that's delicious, number 1 in your book, and what makes it special?

"I've been hanging around this forum (for free) since 2012. I'm a newbie. I've been here long enough to see there's so much whining amongst so many here about how...."

so you're averaging 7 posts a day - a life you should go and acquire.

"Anyway, just wondering if Thailand is ok for a holiday, and if so can you tell me a place where none of you will be because your negativity is awful."

Anywhere - just don't go on ThaiVisa!!

Seriously you do an average of 7 posts a day in an environment that you find awfully negative - stop getting involved. Disconnect the internet and you'll be fine

I appreciate the way you think Martin.

    But I'd be missed.

  9. It is not legal to name and shame specific businesses in Thailand even if what you are reporting is veritably the truth. You can get in legal trouble for that. You can be accused of losing the business money and forced to compensate them. Actual expats actually KNOW that.

This is sometimes the trouble with tourists thinking they have a clue about what it's like to actually live in Thailand. That's impossible.

    Next ...

I'm curious, which area of Thailand you call home then Jingthing?

  10. Thailand.

It's better than NORTH KOREA any day of the week.

The tourism authority is welcome to have that slogan free of charge.

Overall, the very topic of this transparently baiting thread reminds of the pablum-brained toadies that are always complaining that news shows only report negative stories and don't spend the entire time reporting about puppies being rescued from sewers.

Puppies from the sewers, jeez, good one for tescos next year mothers day campaign.

And who's calling who transparent? You started a thread baiting any or every single shop in Thailand! No names of course, but an address will do fine. Sheesh.

Next holiday to Thailand I'll work my accommodation out by eliminating every shop that sucks and plan from there.
