Vaccinations work. Anti-vaxers are wrong and being profoundly stupid. Dying of measles in this modern world is 100% preventable.

I feel for the guy. He needs to leave but is stuck in limbo because of the kid. Just one more of the 1000's of reasons why I went to the doctor and got myself clipped before I ever had a kid. I can't see any positives about reproducing and I've tried to see positives. Why would any sane person want a child? I simply do not and can not understand.
Me, I'd walk. leave the entire thing behind, kid and all. It's obviously a good thing I did all those decades ago because I just would not take that cr@p in my life.

The Thai are like most Asian countries I've been to. They love tourist dollars but would be perfectly content if the tourists stayed home and put the cheque in the mail.

You did read that bit, right? Maybe stay away from the Kool-Aid…
Very astute as today was the 40th anniversary of the Jim Jones cult Kool- Aid massacre.

Taunting cops is never smart, even if they're slow witted lazy corrupt clowns.

Absentee parenting, never being taught from a very young age how to properly socialize and deal with feelings and emotions on an intellectual scale, seeing violence on tv as a norm, seeing people commit violence and get away with an absurdly small penalty and loss of face all play a part.
As mentioned, losing the concept of face in its entirety would help more than any other thing.

It would be interesting to find out if there had been any extra work done on the boat without having it resurveyed.
This was much of the blame when the Suwol Ferry sank in Korea with the loss of 300 high school kids.
After the purchase there was a lot of work done on the boat which changed its center of gravity.

Looking at it with a dispassionate and somewhat cynical eye, the majority of people are probably better off this way. A lot of people got paid off and I'm assuming the dead cop's family got paid off. I hope, handsomely. Where would they be and what would their benefit be if they simply arrested Boss and threw him away. He would have been paroled or pardoned and set free anyway and nobody would have gotten a single baht.
It sucks, but it's Thailand. And Boss can't come home and that is probably punishment enough for him. You know how these people are. You can move the average Thai out of a dungheap and into Buckingham Palace and sooner or later they'd miss the dungheap and their village.

The Chinese are not blind to the garbage in the streets, the dirty beaches, lack of road safety, the feeling they're being stripped of cash by every provider, the hassles against their Chinese-speaking tour guides, high costs of cigarettes and hard liquor, and repeated news reports of Chinese fatalities in tour bus and ferry boat crashes. And I wonder what they're saying as they watch local police parade around like peacocks.
This description sounds like China itself. I'd think using this as a metric, the Chinese aren't coming to Thailand because it feels like home!

What an insane reason to kill someone, anyone, let alone a friend. Good gravy, what the heck is going on with some people?
-
yeah, I'd be proud as a peacock to have my daughter bring him home and say, "Daddy, I want you to meet my new boyfriend. But you better talk quickly, cuz here come the cops."

I've eaten in a couple of Michelin starred restaurants over the years. The food is great, the presentation pure perfection, the ambience spectacular but generally speaking, this ol' home boy likes street chicken and sticky rice with some spicy dip.

I think you should have a minimum of 5 years, non-reducible - tacked on to any sentence where a driver runs away. Filthy stinking coward.
Look at his picture. I wouldn't even get on a bus, ticket prepaid or not, if I saw that face sitting behind the wheel. He is clearly messed up. As was proven time and again.

My wife has had a Scoopy for years. Smuggled it in from Thailand before they were legal to sell in Laos. It has been fault free for 37,000km and running like new.

This is brutal to see. I worked for a company that built houses back in Canada 15 years ago or so. I went to work on April 1st one day and thought I was the first guy on the job site until I found my mate hanging from a floor joist by a wire. I laughed and said, "Haha...April Fool's. That looks awesome Ben!", as I approached him and gave him a little shove.
Ben was dead. My mind was blown. I called my boss and told hi and got the "Haha April Fool's" thing again.
Yeah...it was a bad day all around.

With me living in Laos and the law passed a couple of years back allowing 2 land crossing per year, I am wondering how this will affect me? Is it going back to the old system whereby I had unlimited crossings with my multi-entry B2 visa for Laos? The article is not extremely clear on that point.

I notice that too. And you can add the ridiculous statement from some Americans if it wasn't for them then the French would be speaking German but conveniently forget if it wasn't for the French they would be speaking English...the pure British form
You are absolutely correct. George Washington went to France twice begging for help to fight the British. France turned him down the first time as they simply didn't want to get into another war with England. The second time Washington was successful and the French joined the colonists to fight the British. Had they not helped, the colonists would have never had a chance.
The biggest highlight of this is from Mel Gibson's movie The Patriot which shows a single ship sailing over the horizon with the French flag flying off its top mast after the war is finished and the colonists have won. Americans believe that cr@p. Idiots.

Reading the American various media outlets, watching the news and countless TV shows, it's little wonder Americans think poorly of France. She is constantly on the sh!tty end of the stick. Few Americans know about the French underground resistance during WW2 and how big an effort it played.
I've been to 39 of the states in the USA over 100's of trips there and can count on 1 hand the number of Americans that knew The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France. It's astonishing how little they know about pretty much everything outside their microcosmic sphere.

The fact is, HIV isn't as prevalent as the fear-mongers would have us believe and chances of catching it are slim even with someone who is infected. Magic Johnson's wife never got the virus and he must have banged her 100's of times after he became HIV+.
