Turn it pal. No-one, and I mean no-one, wakes up and thinks I think I'll move to Laos.
If there is one world class hospital there now, then fair dues, happy to hold my hands up on that.
So because I think Laos is boring and filthy that means I don't read? Great logic that, well done.
Really. I did. And I know many like me.
I don't know what "turn it" means. I don't know what your hate-on about Laos is all about. You get turned down by a Lao girl...like every time??? Or a Lao boy?????

I gather the reason to pull a runner is to be sober when they catch you. Then, it's nigh on impossible to get blamed for being drunk while driving and causing the crash.
I guess the folks who were killed weren't wearing helmets. 4 meters is a serious fall but they died of head trauma. With helmets, who knows, they may have lived.
They need to pass a law: flee the scene of an accident is a minimum of 5 years.

Please explain what the magic in drinkink alcohol at night time is. Daytime is for drinking, nighttime for sleeping. Obviously you do the opposite, wonder why.

My wife routinely pays the electricity and water bills. During the blistering hear of summer our electric bill is about 2000 baht and the aircon is on all the time. In the cold season it's half or less than that. The water bill is about 400 baht a month.
She's getting off way easy!

More efficient?!? How so?
a) I used to have unlimited border crossings, just get my passport stamped
b) Then they changed it to 2 a year and then purchasing a visa for 1000 baht for each crossing. This took 2 days and the embassy doesn't issue visas on weekends.
c) Now it's a 2 week wait.
More efficient?!? How so?

You are not convincing anyone 'dude' The place is a filthy, boring, commie cesspit.
As for 'western style hospitals' hahahahahahaha.
Well, everyone has the right to a wrong opinion. As for hospitals, have you been to the Alliance Hospital lately? The staff are fluent in English and mostly western trained. The doctors are predominantly foreigners.
And what exactly is boring? What are you, 18? You need a rave every night for something to be exciting. Me, I like to read, you should try it some day.

It's both funny and a little sad how some who live so close, think Laos is still nothing more than a jungle entrenched village. The fact is, they are mostly correct in their thinking, however, the cities and especially Vientiane are pretty much the same as any other big city. We've got the malls and the grocery stores and western style hospitals and the infrastructure anyone expects to see and need.
What is noticeably lacking is the craziness, the wacko tourists, the blatant prostitution and the undercurrent of anger leading to assaults for no reason whatsoever with the exception of MATE Syndrome.
That's Male Adult Thai Ego Syndrome. I just made that up! Pretty cool eh ????

Was the rear light broken on the motorbike? Did the car driver have very dark tint on his windscreen? Was the car driver drunk? Or, tick all three boxes?
Of course, the driver should have stopped, his is an idiot and should be locked away.
The rear light was the first thing I thought of too, however, you can clearly see its reflection in the side of the car and in the video. My guess, at that time of the morning the car driver was staring at his or her phone. My money is on the driver is male.

He couldn't make ends meet so stealing is the logical next best option.
Man, it just goes on and on doesn't it.

This could have been my mom. She was a pill-popping alcoholic waste product. I didn't even send flowers or call when she croaked.
Very few memories of celebrated events that weren't ruined by dear old mom. I once begged my father to divorce her but he wouldn't. He said his strict Catholic upbringing would only mean he'd be wracked with guilt when she'd blown her 1/2 from the divorce and was a bum in the gutter.
That picture has affected me on so many levels. Damnnnn....I wish I'd never seen it.

Man...the insanity that affects Thailand is beyond belief at times. And to think when the kids sit these exams in Korea the airport closes to flights to keep the noise down!

I could happily spend a few months a year there ... great if you want to do some work that requires concentration. And Beer Lao. Best brew in SE Asia.
You are correct about the beer. I grew up in Germany and lived in Canada for 30+ years: 2 countries well respected for their beer. Beerlao beats them all.

Well, lets wait and see. I've lived here for over 13 years and it certainly can appear boring unless you know where to go and what to do.
I like that! It tends to keep the dregs of society away. They all go to Thailand LOL
The thing is, the majority of alcohol sales is beer and beer is available everywhere. The girl across my soi in her rinky dink hair washing place sells beer.

I just read in the news here that the government wants to stop the sales of alcohol before 4:00pm. rarely have I heard anything more ineffectual and guaranteed to fail.
I'll keep an eye on this. I got some drinking to do, it's nearly 6:30pm!

Is there no news about what happened other than an accident? No other vehicles involved?

The first people I'd check are the Thai folks that were working nearby. I know that sounds terrible, but I'd still check them first.

Have you looked into Western Union or Moneygram? I've used them and the fees are no more than a bank transfer and the money is available minutes after you send it.
