I remember when I was living in Korea and those huge ugly black large framed Groucho Marx eye-glasses became all the rage. Everyone was walking around wearing them. Of course, they were just for fashion and none had lenses in them. Just the frames. Idiotic.

They were/are fools for leaving that kind of money in a house, unsecured, while away on holiday. Stupidity at its finest.

This is a load of compost. Israel is illegally occupying Palestinian lands, pretty much the entire world agrees with this with the exception of Israel and its butt-kissing acolytes. What they are doing to the Palestinians is as bad or worse than what the Nazis did to Jews for the simple reason they know better through experience.

A grandparent to a child nearly 3 years old and you're only 47? Wow.
Be that as it may, child car seats are not the answer. If they were how is it possible that everyone from my generation and before made it out alive? We all sat on dad's lap when he drove, or the passenger's lap, or wandered around the back seat. There were no seatbelts or child car seats.
Safe driving techniques is the answer. The car driver was at fault for trying to pass. If they had been driving like a normal human and taking care, all would be alive today.

What they need are native English teachers with more or less neutral accents. South Africans are not native English speakers, none that I've ever met anyway. Nor are Filipinos native English speakers. Most Aussies, Kiwis and Brits speak with accents that are challenging for a Canadian or American to understand let alone a Thai child in school.
Thailand needs Canadians and Americans to teach English and they need to pay better. Korea pays well and has incentives like free apartments and paid vacation, health plan and paid holidays etc. That's why all the folks who desire to move to Asia and teach ESL predominantly go to Korea. The huge majority of them would prefer to go to Thailand but it just isn't worth it. 1/2 the pay and no perks and benefits.

Exactly, you'd also have a good idea of what you owe through careful observation of the menu and basic arithmetic. Count it out and leave it plus a little extra to be sure under the water glass.

If you want to bring back the Chinese tourists en masse, offer insanely huge, super cheap, all you can eat buffets with extra large plates for scooping up shrimp.
Not sure about the Indians. Guarantee hassle free vacations from tailors???

The pressures and stresses of Thailand are starting to show and the cracks in society are starting to manifest themselves in these shootings. People are losing their minds because they see no way out. A great deal of these problems stem from the cultural norms: face being a major part of it, plus the dominance of the elite and their attitudes of superiority and their blatant taking advantage of those they consider their lessors, cops who are nothing more than Al Capone clones with badges, ineffective leadership who care more about CYA than the people..........
This is only getting started folks.
Who is the most dangerous man alive?
The man with nothing to lose, because the man with nothing to lose is all too often willing to take his own life, and a man who is willing to take his own life is all too often willing to ensure he isn't going alone. When you're backed that deep into a corner you don't care how you get out and you don't care who's in the way.
Social media. Everyone's a star. Privacy is a thing of the past and will never be returned.
It isn't right, but it is what it is and it's gonna get worse until people start walking the walk instead of simply talking the talk. That will never happen.
I am regularly disgusted by the hypocrisy I see on a daily basis here, there and everywhere. People going to temple/church and praying to their gods and then stomping all over their considered inferiors the rest of the week/month/year......
I am so very delighted I'm a whole lot closer to the end than the beginning. This world sucks.

What is wrong with some people? Bringing your passport and credit cards to the beach?!? When I go to the beach I bring enough cash to get me by for the day at the beach, 2000 baht is plenty for a bite to eat and a few beers and it's a small enough amount that I don't care if it gets stolen.
It's also a good idea to rent a lounger and chat up the guy that runs them. Buy something straight away and be friendly. He'll keep an eye on things for you. They always have for me anyway. I have spent many hundreds if not 1000's of hours on Thai beaches and have never been ripped off.

I don't know how this delivery thing works in Thailand. From what I understand here in Laos, the delivery people pay a 30% premium and then charge the customer.
So if someone orders $10 worth of food the delivery guy pays the store $13 and then charges the customer $13 and hopes for a tip. I think. Perhaps the delivery person charges the customer $14.
I don't use the delivery service because it sure seems to be taking advantage of people.

How many people have been traumatised because two peoples greed. ?
I can't find figures regarding what a sergeant in the Thai army makes but I'm betting 50,000 baht is a lot of money to him or her. This doesn't excuse the shootings but at least I can fathom why he blew away the woman and the colonel. The rest just leave me baffled.

I’m no history expert but surely Aussies and kiwis are as native at speaking english as Americans? You are all ultimately descendants from British/European immigrants.
I personally find some American accents more horrible than say a well educated Kiwi.
So yeah your post comes across as somewhat arrogant.
Some saffas aren’t native speakers because Afrikaans is their first language but the English saffas are. Quite a big difference again. That's because any well-educated Kiwi was educated in Canada or the USA!

I am surprised by this. I would never have figured a Christian holiday would see higher spending than Songkran or other bigtime Thai holidays.

How can any sane person expect a Thai to be able to properly teach English? Native speakers from select countries are what is needed to teach a language. I do not consider Aussies, Kiwis, or Saffers to be native English speakers at a level to be able to teach English. I know that is controversial, but too bad. Their accents are horrible to listen to for Canadians and Americans, let alone Thai or Lao students.

3 weeks ago i saw the 3M ones in chinatown....25 for 750 baht, the good ones with exhaust valve....but i bet they're sold out now.
Isn't it ridiculous that Prayuth lets the chinese in (while other countries ban them) and he even doesn't make sure there are enough mouthmasks for sale...is he willing to kill us?
Even Laos has closed it's border with China. Facemasks are all but useless anyway.

The legal driving age for a motorbike in Thailand is 15. That kid should not have been driving. I'd blame his parents for that accident and charge them along with the car driving idiot.

"Mr Sakdapol suggested that provincial budgets would be better spent on a long-term sterilisation and vaccination programme, which is proven to be the most effective way to humanely and sustainably reduce stray dog populations."
No, it is not. The most effective and humane way to handle this serious problem is a very careful placed bullet into the dog's head. It would feel nothing, no nothing and cause no harm again. As a bonus, it's also much faster and cheaper.

Has anyone ever been killed on a motorbike here? Whenever there's a bicycling fatality reported in ThaiVisa all the curmudgeons pop out of the woodwork to condemn the stupidity of anyone who would dare to bicycle in Thailand but strangely they remain silent about the stupidity of riding a motorbike here. It's almost as if they have a grudge against anyone who is fit enough to exert themselves physically.
At least motorbikes are capable of keeping up with traffic. Bicycles, which are not, and their riders, often think they own the road.
I lived in Korea for years, I know very well how they feel about "others". I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to learn the bike rider was well into the motarized vehicle laneway.

Typical small-minded thinking by the Thai authorities. This is the perfect opportunity to get a total strangle hold on Chinese tourists. They should be giving Chinese special 2 for 1 deals!

I bought 1500 3M N95 masks on Friday.
I'm waiting for the panic to set in and then sell them for a nice profit!
N95 respirators offer more protection. Such devices are designed to prevent 95 per cent of small particles from entering the nose and mouth area. But they only work if they fit properly, and aren’t suitable for children or people with facial hair.
N95 respirators can also make it more difficult for a person to breathe, so could be dangerous for someone showing symptoms of infection of the new coronavirus, which include coughing and shortness of breath.
