Sales of rice would skyrocket and no more overloaded boats would sink.

That's a very Canadian name. Not
Nor is it a very Lao name. It sounds Chinese.

Never sit with your back to the door, or in this case, the entire front of the restaurant.

They were deliberately herded by park rangers and forced to this dangerous point where they were scared and died. Why is no one talking about this?
Because Thais and their next-door neighbours, the Lao, never admit they're wrong. They'd lose face....but only amongst themselves. They lack the critical thinking abilities to even wonder whether the rest of the world thinks they're losing face by lying. And that, is the true sadness here.

It's a big problem in Laos as well. My friend's wife gambled away his house. They're still together which I find shocking.
My wife used to play with her friends. Very low stakes, a great day or bad day would equal maybe + / - $5.00.
I morning I woke up at around 2 am and she still wasn't home. I went to find her and brought her home with the admonition: It's me, your house and life OR the game. Choose...now!
She chose smartly. She knows too many who last too much.

Although welcoming someone like Snowdon would not be an attack on the USA it certainly would not be considered a friendly act by a so called friendly nation and would harm relations.
Harm relations??? I can't remember the last time I heard any American say anything positive about France. I'm guessing that the huge percentage (95%+) don't even realize the Statue of Liberty was a gift from France.

Sounds like a quick and simple call to the actual airlines in question asking if they did indeed have this deal on would have saved a lot of folks a lot of money.

Being called a pedophile is without doubt the foulest insult one could ever mention to me. It would lead to fisticuffs. Instantly. And I don't care if my butt gets kicked as long as I get a few smacks in.

In one of my earlier posts i have for many years now often noted and wondered why an air hostess need such a giant suitcase for what is suppose to be be an overnight flight, big enough, well, to bring back stuff one will presume...
I was an "ahem" air hostess for a long time. Not all flights are short one-nighters. Many pairings are several days long, thus the need for luggage. Plus, not everything goes to plan, a one-night turn-around could easily become something much more extensive due to irrops (irregular operations).

I remember when we got the National Geographic magazine in the mail with the Terra Cotta Warrior's head on it. I read the article and swore to see them some day. It took 4 decades, but I went to Xian. I just can't see staring at 4 warriors and 1 chariot all that exciting after having been there, seen that, for real.

This doesn't sound at all like a Buddhist philosophy. In fact, it sounds quite the opposite. I'm confused.

Cheap! It's 1/2 the price of similar paperwork there than in Laos.

Lack of critical thinking makes Thailand's competitiveness ranking slip

Critical thinking in Thailand? Yeah, I'll just hold my breath waiting for that to happen. Isn't this the country where one of their national carrier aircraft slid off the runway and they had a baci to expel the evil spirits and invite the lost pi back home?
I think it's in poorer shape regarding critical thinking than Laos, and that is really saying something.
