Savage and cruel revenge for a possible deal gone wrong, or financial dispute, even a serious neighbourhood dispute.
Nationality of offender(s)? Depends on who he's crossed. Police could start with an examination of his office computer if this is actually at an office and not at his burnt home.
Need to know more about his real estate activities. Was he involved in buying and developing housing estates with Thai builders or just selling completed houses, condos etc. to foreigners. There's lots of possibilities. If there has been a dispute on a sold property there should be correspondence for that. Do his bank records show anything?
Throw the bus at me if you want but I suspect that this revenge was instigated by a disgruntled Thai. However, I hope they find whoever did it and throw the book at them.

I GO TO BANGLA ROAD FOR NIGHT LIFE JUST 10 MIN BY BIKE AND ALSO YOU CAN GO TO PHUKET TOWN.
EDIT:
Please do not post in all caps. It is considered shouting and as such rude!
This is also one thing i consider a major plus about Kathu. I'm not at particularly big fan of Bangla Road but think its ok to go a couple of times a month. Therefore its perfect that I can go to Bangla Road when it suits me, instead of Bangla Road being around me all the time. A major implication about this though, is that i think driving a bike and going out for a drink is a bad mix. Especially driving the road between Kathu and Patong. Thats why i wonder about the prices and possibilities for Taxi. As i said earlier, i know its expensive, I just want to know how big the damage will be.
What some people do if going out for a big night in Patong. Rent a hotel room for one night in Patong. Drive your bike down there sober during the day and return the next day again sober. You'll avoid the evening traffic jam, erratic & drunk drivers etc etc. If you can arrange that it's the smartest thing to do.

Doesn't drink, doesn't smoke. But became addicted to poker machines in Oz. Lost more than I dare say. Total loss included marriage. Soooooo sad.
I didn't see "chronic problem" amongst your choices.
Mate ... that's just plain sad.
May I ask, how did she access the amount of money to put through the machines?
Did she work? Or rely on your money?

David you have spent enough time here and been around Thais long enough to already know the answer.
Let me spell it out for you, some of these mia farang never gave up their profession on marrying the white knight in shining armour and moving overseas.
Examples I know of, one woman gambled away 2 million baht, proceeds of a house sale, another gambled away not one but two restaurants, I cant be assed recounting the others.
The most galling was when one Thai wanted to use our house as a "knocking shop", she couldnt understand why the mrs told her to eff off.
To rgs2001uk - No my wife wasn't selling pussy to get the money for the poker machines. I resent your implication that all Thai girls married to foreigners sell pussy at the first opportunity to get extra money.
I sent you a PM on this I hope you receive it ok. [i'm not really sure how to send PM's] She never gambled in Thailand.
My wife worked a number of restaurant and cleaning jobs over many years. Sometimes working 60 hours per week. She was influenced by the other Asians she worked with.. Some people get hooked and she was one of those that did. She also accessed our joint bank account and credit cards before I put a stop to that avenue of funds.
As much as she earned was as much as she'd spend and because she was working she could get multiple credits cards. These were always maxed out and I stupidly from time to time would pay them down to zero only to be maxed out again. This behaviour went on for many years. I didn't want to throw her out on the street. I tried again and again to get her to stop without success. I won't bore you with the problems it caused, but there many.
In any form of addiction you have to be in the gutter before you truly want to change and get help. She's still working through her demons of addiction to poker machines but without me as a source of cash.

Why do men get addicted to Thailand?
Women and Booze
You said it all right there. 99 times out 100 , those are the reasons. And both of them will sink your ship a great deal of the time , before all is said and done. I've certainly partaken of both. Have since stopped drinking and cut back on women chasing in the Kingdom. This has been very very very difficult. I miss having several cold ones 3 or 4 times a week in the worst way and my affinity for pretty Asians will never leave me.
People keep telling me to do things in moderation. Where is this place called "moderation"? I can find places called "temptation" and "In excess" and maybe later I'll have to find the place called "redemption" but despite my searching I can never find this place called "moderation"!

Didn't gamble at all in Thailand. Lost all her money from working here in Oz over many years. Influenced by other Asians she worked with. Lost a s -hitload of my money as well. Gambled unemployment benefits. Refused help again & again. Couldn't stand it anymore or I would have gone under - lost house etc. Fantastic lady in so many ways, perfect Thai wife for many years except for chronic gambling habits. This in turn causes hundreds of arguments. But will always be the number one lady I've known in my life.
I would like to s-hit down the throat of all politicians who voted in favour of poker machines. They live their lives on a fat Govt. pension whilst the lives of thousands are ruined by poker machines in Oz.. No poker machines in Western Australia and they are flush with money to spend on the economy not fatted hotel owners.
Reading this post makes me laugh. There are so many Thai ladies I know here in Oz with chronic gambling habits. Check out our Casino - filled with Asians losing everything they earn.

Comcare's picking up the whole High Court costs for both parties. Should make the b-itch pay the whole cost. This is how Public Servants get a bad name in Australia. Your taxes paying for this c-rap. Probably some left wing union type. Anyone with an ounce of decency and self ownership of the problem would never have tried to take the Govt. for a ride.

Postal service: SAL (non priority airmail - max 30kg). 20kg: 3310 bahts x 2 = 6620 bahts. This, to my knowledge is the cheapest way. Also you have a chance not to pay duty on arrival, if not too bulky (eye-catching to the custom officer). Not the case with DHL/FedEx. Transit time: approx. 20 days.
Good luck.
I recently sent 2 x 20kg boxes SAL from BKK to Aust using the PO in the MBK shopping complex. The charge was 6,400 baht per box, although the actual postage cost per box was only 3,310 Baht. [stamps on the box]. I found out later that there are many privately run PO's in BKK and a few government run ones. I guess I used a privately run PO & this explains the mark up on the postage costs. However it was very convenient & the staff were very helpful. No duty on arrival as it was everyday non perishable goods valued at less than $1,000. I also sent 1 x 20kg box by sea and this cost 4,400 Baht, although the actual postage cost was only 2,740 Baht.
The prices were listed in an official booklet according to type of postage and weight. I really didn't give it much thought at the time but obviously I paid too much.
Any advice as to where I should take future packages for posting whilst paying the correct postage costs would be appreciated.

To ryro88 - you certainly are an active little b_ugger.
On 13/09 you ask TV members for information on the best areas to stay in Bkk for bars & gogos. I'm assuming you won't be reading books in these places.
On 14/09 you ask TV members for information about the do's and don'ts of meeting a Thai girls parents (up country) for the first time.
Make up your mind. You're either in it for fun with no commitments or you're in it on a more serious note - as that's how the girl's parents will see it.
If it's for fun stay at a hotel, don't sleep with the girl at her village.

What a stunning coincidence. EACH man had THB 34,000 in his trousers, what are the chances of that ?
Having worked with Indians for many years I know them not to be inveterate liars, always to carry large amounts of cash with them ( that's why they travel on baht buses and don't take taxis ) and to always ensure they promptly pay for their round of drinks, which could explain why they all had the same amount on them. And none of them would ever engage in dubious behavior like going to a lady's room, even when invited.
Whilst the thread reads like each of the Indians had 34,000 baht in their pockets I think the real amount claiming to be stolen is 34,000 baht in total from the three men's pockets. We all know how the translation can be botched.

Well they're bloody fools. Yep just bloody fools. Never should these temptations be put in front of poor working class Thais.
There's every chance they'd be robbed in the West too when displaying such stupidity.
Bit like those hussies who go out in short skirts I guess - just asking to be sexually molested.
"Well I know of one western couple, visit Pattaya every year, have been scolded by local friends and hotel management, and police, for leaving very large sums of cash out in the open for visitors, maids etc., to see. And it's all left out in full view while they go sightseeing for the day, etc.
They also leave out in full view wallets, passports, jewelry (including bags of jewelry bought from big local gem shops which they take home and sell to fund their trips to Pattaya).
Their response to scolding "you should trust people".
Yes they have been robbed several times, but they continue to leave to leave it all out in full view.

Sorry can't see any relevance to your post. Mine was about the people being stupid to leave money & valuables on show in their hotel room. Bound to be robbed. Yours was about prostitutes wearing short skirts????????????
Have I missed something in your post?
Yes. Blaming the victim.
But you did manage to add something - nowhere in my post did I use the word "prostitutes".
I stand corrected Jackspratt - you did not mention the word prostitute and I understand the point you are making.
However the thrust of my comment related to tourists who ask to be "victims". For example those who leave money and jewellery out in the open spaces of their hotel room. Those that go swimming in Phuket during the rainy season and ignore the red flags. Those that sit on a Pattaya beach at 4:30am in a drunken state. Those that drive motorbikes at high speed when drunk wearing shorts, tshirt and tongs etc etc. These people are just asking to become victims. OK bad things shouldn't happen to them but they do. Yes sir I blame the victim.
There are so many victims of crime that in spite of taking all reasonable & sensible precautions are just unlucky to be in the wrong place at the wrong time or have valuables stolen from their room or their credit card skimmed etc etc. I do not blame these victims.

I dont worry , the TAT will come up with some good reason ..dont frighten the billions tourists expected in the next 4 years ... I havent swim in this area for years (except in hotel pools) 20 years ago I had severe rashes after swimming on jomtien beach ... I gave up swimming in this area as the quality of water always have been bad..
Good idea to use hotel swimming pools - it lessens the chance of being chopped to pieces by those damn speedboat propellers at Jontiem. Two in two years or is it more? But it's still an OK beach for just relaxing under the beach umbrellas - plenty of food & drink available close by and there's more sand than at Pattaya Beach.

If ever there was a topic on TV that made an argument for only renting Thai female company then this is it. So many posters with so much drama, pain and grief in their lives caused by crazy Thai partners.
So to those who rent Thai female company - your decision has been well & truly vindicated. Good luck to you. But at times you may feel lonely for a loving relationship.
To those that chose to live in a long term relationship or marry a Thai girl - just hope like hell you don't get the crazy ones that ruin your life. There's probably 20%-30% that are really happy. Now as for the rest.............
And yes I know there's a massive amount of crazy, jealous, vindictive women in the Western society as well.

How many of you have seen the YOU TUBE video where they open locked zippered bags with a lead pencil. Piece of cake. Easy if you know how to do it. It doesn't matter how many locks you have. They open and lock your suitcase again. Easy access. The only way to stop this would be to plastic wrap your suitcase. But then for the professional thief this would not present a problem either.

TONY JAA. WHAT A LEGEND. WHATEVER HE'S IN I'LL WATCH.

Very sad story. Such a waste of a young life. A non swimmer is a non swimmer. What nonsense to talk about air in your lungs, floating etc etc. A non swimmer sinks like a stone, panicked, gulping water - it only ends in one way.
As a non swimmer he wouldn't have any clue what to do when being swept onto rocks. He was more than likely knocked out when he hit the rocks. Plus his friends may not have really known what to do when trying to revive him. So sad.

For a start it's definitely the wrong time of the year for many of the beach resorts. You should have been aware of that.
I had a wonderful time in Ko Lanta at one of it's southern beaches but it was in February. The water was blue, the music at the resort was great, the food was good. I knew there wasn't much to do but relax and if you have female company that's what you want to do.
I'm not 20 so I would never go to Ko Phangan. But Ko Samui is OK at this time of year as is Chiang Mai. The crowds are down, the weather's OK and it's easy to move around.
Mostly when I'm on the move around Thailand I hire a car and that makes a huge difference. It allows you to stop off along the drive to visit numerous tourist spots and to eat when you're hungry etc etc. You didn't have that advantage and spent a lot of your time moving at the mercy of taxi drivers, ferries, airports.
You'd have almost been better off to hire a car from Bangkok & drive north to Chiang Mai. Lots of places to visit and the trip can be broken up into half day drives. Very good standard hotels should be much cheaper this time of the year.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Fantastic shot. My guess would be you were hoping if it did strike it would be at the camera.
Or do the feint strike they often do first, when not hunting.
It's good to know your snake and its habits.
Snakes I have met in the wild, like Australian Death Adder, a large Tiger snake, a giant King Brown snake, mostly
have left alone except for the King Brown we stupidly tried to catch. Fortunately we failed.
Nice work. Beautiful focus. Very clean. .
Maggusoil - with that type of past time you'd be wasting your money buying Xmas presents for this years end. As I'm sure you know all of those are amongst the most venomous snakes in the world. Try chasing kangaroos or wallabies - much safer.
To Anguid - beautiful photos.

It's sickening to read so many sarcastic comments here...What if is a friend of yours who has lost a leg in a accident ?
I'd berate him for driving a motorbike in Thailand...and laugh 'til I vomit.
Hope you choke on it then.
Poor guy screaming in agony. Crashes in heavy rain. Life as he knows it changed forever. It will likely affect his employment and relationships. Lost his lower leg and you come up with a comment like that. Shame on you x 100.

Whatever makes him happy. I'm sure many guys have married "women of the night" and are very happy. Doesn't mean they're going to get ripped off or murdered.
Quite right i know two guys who are married to the nicest ex bar girls you could wish to meet ,one has been 10 years and the other about 23 years ,unfortunatly there are far more who have come to grief. some you win some you lose ,but in the gambeling world the house always wins.
Going back that number of years I'd suggest there was a percentage of bargirls who worked that life out of desperate need. Maybe they were left with children to look after etc etc. There's no welfare system in Thailand and aged parents and children still need food & accommodation. So I believe there was a percentage of girls with a good heart who were looking to survive and maybe find a foreigner to take them away from their miserable plight.
Now I believe many of the girls know how much money can be earned and choose it as a first choice career. Many straight from high school. Better to earn a living on your back than sowing rice crops and breaking your back. That in turn has led to a totally different class of bar girl. Hard nosed and hard hearted. Out to get as much as they can as quickly as they can. So you are so much less likely to meet a really genuine person in this environment.
I know that's a broad generalisation but that's how I view the current situation.

STDs in pattaya
in Pattaya
Posted
IMO only a b_loody fool or a selfish person would have sex with the P4P girls in Pattaya or elsewhere without using a condom.
I say a b_loody fool in the first instance because why in the hell do you want to end up with something painful or annoying that needs medical treatment. Then you head home & spread it to some other unsuspecting soul.
I say selfish in the second instance because you will eventually pick up an STD and you will spread that onto someone else, perhaps a loved one. All for your own ego.
Anyway we all know that Pattaya and other sex centres are full of STD's, some fatal, some forever and some just damned annoying and painful. There are so many stats put out by the health system that you'd have to be "blind freddy" not to know about the high rate of STD's in Pattaya.
I've always wondered about those guys smooching up to some BG just what that girls mouth and perhaps throat were doing a few hours before.
