  1. I can't tell if she didn't actually state a reason why she believes the protestors should be left unprotected, or if this article is so badly written that they simply didn't think to include it.

Everyone knows the police will not protect them.
And considering the constant violent attacks, is this person really suggesting they be completely abandoned by the authorities?

Is that how government behaves in a democracy?
I know, trick question. People around here seem to have some very strange ideas about what democracy actually mean.
I'll help: No. That is not how people are treated in a democracy.

  2. So within 12 hours of the attack they have identified the perpetrator, motive, and international military affiliation- all without a suspect,- let alone an arrest- and could not ID the threat beforehand.

I dare say that's the kind professional ineptitude I would hesitate to share with the press.

That, or the reporter, Wassana Nanuam, or the "SEAL" was telling a bold-faced lie.

Nahhh. too crazy for Bagkok coffee1.gif

  3. Jesus christ.
For a long time I saw this as something that would eventually be quelled.
For the first time in the past few day I have actually had to atleast entertain the thought of, ok, what exactly would I do if this all suddenly got way out of control. This kind of talk is exactly what whats made me perk up my ears. This is a little more hardcore than what we saw before the battle of the bridge.

  4. Let's just recap, here:
    • Was it previously legal to use force against peaceful protestors?
    • Is it the court's mandate to determine what is and is not a peaceful protests- before the fact?
    • Is there anything in there about grenades?

It is a strange privilege to view this mess up close without being compelled to choose a side.
It's inspired me to do that even more in my home country politics.

  5. That's their strategy to reform an entire political culture and make historic changes to the government of an entire nation; annoy her until she quits?

Who are these children and who gave them microphones.

Chalerm: "... use all possible measures to allow Yingluck to return to work at the Government House."
yeah. Just as soon as they finish their little wall and go home we'll rush right in to reclaim the territory.

I used to believe it was evil and the corruption of power that caused so much siffering in the world. I should have known then what I've learned here: It's not so much malice as good ol fashioned stupidity that ruins it for everyone.

  6. Just whisper "America" and watch the inferiority complex of the world ignite.

Laughing out loud at that thai kid that says "nobody gives a s**t what farang think"- while commenting, in English, on an expat forum, about an English language news article, regarding something an American thinks on the other side of the world.

Good luck with that, lil' hater.

I don't know but i assume you are referring to my comment that nobody gives a shit what an ex-pat thinks. I am British,My Avatar is a picture of my Thai/British son. The comment was meant to be self derogatory. We are arguing here about something we can do nothing about, we have no influence, and nobody will take any notice of what we say,its not our country and yet emotions run high, for what?

Yes, I was referring to your post.

I misinterpreted what you were writing and now I'm a bit embarrassed.

Then again, I was projecting on you my dissatisfaction with all of the America haters. Not the legitimate critics, just the douchebags that reflexively hate my culture without having set foot in the States.

    I aplologize for that.

  7. My opinion...Anybody without rights to vote....cannot have rights to do any political activity.......even join any protests or political parade, without risking deportation...or at least some kind of problems if the protest becomes illegal or violent...In this case...this individual is not just a foreigner, its also a member of a public government institution participating in an anti-government movement. In my understanding....those are the rules, official or not, in most countries.

First of all, you must define "political activity".

Does your discussion of what should or should not be part of thai policy, right here, right now, not constitute political activity?

And if not, then where is the line?

To the best of my knowledge, it is not illegal for foreign nationals to engage in legal demonstrations in my country, the US.

Nor should it be. It is codified in our constitution. Our laws extend to our guests and residents.

One does get the impression sometimes that we simply are not viewed as guests here.
