Ha!
I am a graphic designer, and was recntly asked to design a tshirt for an American Muay Thai fighter. The lettters were roman, but my rough interpretation of Thai script.
I showed it to a Thai friend this weekend and she didn't get the Thai refernece at all... I certainly didn;tblame her. ha!

She said: 'Thailand, but why didn't he use an upper-case 'T' as it's a proper noun?'

This gentleman does not seem very bright.
He pretty much insulted every Thai woman and Western man in Thailand.
Making uninformed statements regarding education, family and and foreign affairs in a single breath. This guy should work for Fox News.

My Thai friend didn't even know there were regulations on that.
Sometimes in my neighborhood all you can do is open the door, sit down and hand them cash. Only way to get a ride.

You would have been in a stronger bargaining positon had you not shown up late for the day you thought you were supposed to leave.
Pay fee. Leave Thailand.
Pretty straightforward.

3 years in prison for trapping 60 people in a burning building.
Death sentence for driving yaba from points A to B.
Yeah, that totally makes sense.

Ahhh yes. Idle politicians drafting toothless legislation to restrict individual rights on issues that nobody is actually concerned about. Reminds me of home.

I was told I had to wait to get my Non-B and work permit before I could open an account. After I got those squared away I just went in with my Thai coworker and smiled politely while signing on the dotted line. Voila. K-bank savings account. No sweat.
You know, if it weren't for ThaiVisa.com forums, I would have no idea Thailand is a particularly racist, unfriendly and xenophobic society. Which is to say, I don't think it is.

Thaivisa forums: A healthy mix of well adjusted friendly expats and creepy, culturally ignorant, foul weirdos. Just like the farang community in general.
If you came to Thailand because the prostitution is easy, good for you. If you didn't, good for you too. Don't understand why one has to have an opinion about the other. Mind your own junk and show some dam_n respect.

Smells of a hissy fit.

One cannot educate the already ignorant.
Education cures ignorance, by defintion. The better educated a human mind, the less likely it is to fall victim to it's own baser tendencies of tribalism; in this instance religious extremism.

Islamist insurgency in a country with religious freedom. That's just fuc_king stupid.
Then again, I could have just summed that sentence up into the first word.
Education is the only answer.
Religion itself is the devil.

It only just occurred to me that I don't have a single American friend in Bangkok. I need to get on that. Guess I'll be flyeing solo when I get there. See y'all at the barbeque.

So the big question for many expats- Will they loose or potentially loose that house they bought from a real-estate agent that is technically owned by a 'company', in these cases the company isn't real but the house is owned by this 'company' that has thai 'nominees' that own 51%, the rest-49% of the 'compnay' is owned by the foreigner who spent all that money to by 'his/her' house which they don't technically own..
I believe that's exactly what they're proposing.

How's the saying go?
There's the right way and the Thai way.
The right way: The golden rule
The Thai way: Pay a large sum for a broken machine with almost no practical usefulness even under the best circumstances and then irradiate passing citizens.

I was always under the impression that Macs had fewer viruses because they had a smaller market share and programmers were less likely to focus on their systems- not that they were impervious.

There's something something you would never hear back in the States.

The only trouble I've had in a year of living in Thailand is someone trying to go through my backpack in a crowd as a "tailor" distracted me in Patong.
This stuff is only shocking because people have it in their heads that Thaiand is somehow a safe place- It's not.
Lots of desperate people + inept policing + active coverup of anything that might make the country look bad + a bunch of cash laden tourists with no clue what's going on around them. Not hard to see where that ends up.
