  1. Can someone please give me a plausible explanation for why these attacks aren't hitting anyone?
I just can't believe that they could consistently miss their assumed targets with bullet after bullet after bullet, night after night.

If you fire a fully-automatic weapon into a crowd and you don't hit anyone, you should definitely consider turning the gun on yourself. You have failed at life.*

*Does it count as a flame if I'm insulting terrorists?

  2. for the last few months the great majority of tourists go strait from bkk to don muang, train and bus stations.

as not a tourist I'm going tomorrow to the polling station to record on my camera everything what;s happening there, just if any evidence for the courts is needed. I will use an application on my smartphone used for recording road accidents - if nothing happens the older film is re-recorded, ad finitum

You are either very brave or foolish. This is not a dress rehearsal

    I vote foolish.

I vote nosy non essential busybody

Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

    Alright, I'll take the bait:

<deleted> does "nosy non essential busybody" even mean?

Thanks very much for chiming in without actually adding anything to the conversation.

Oh wait, now I understand what a nosy, non-essential busybody is.

I see what you did there.

  3. What do we expect when the police standby and do nothing to protect the vote.

This entire situation is so ridiculous and futile.
There is no imaginable scenario which ends with Suthep winning this.
Every single day he spends in the streets is only prolonging the inevitable.
When the army says they do not want a coup, I take it at face value. They may be in a position to have their hands forced, but it's becoming increasingly clear that they aren't chomping at the bit to get behind ol' mad dog.

  4. Quitting parliament need some sort of punishment. What the democrats did is anti-democratic and is first steps to a failed state. minimum 3 years in prison if resigning as MP without a good reason. Disagreeing with other MP is not a good reason. Disagreement is the foundation of Democracy, quitting is not.

Same should go for public appointed jobs like this. Quit or don't do you job and you should be held personally responsible.

Were you be locked up for quitting your last job? I don't know of any democracy where that would happen.

You get locked up for "quitting" the army...in "any democracy".

That, my friend, was a mighty weak analogy.

Soldiers and so-called public servants both use their particular skills to serve the greater good of the nation. But that's where the similarities end. Hell, you could say that of engineers, farmers and icecream men.

Gawd forbid I ever live in a country where the elected official is sworn to blindly follow the orders of the lowest ranking man above him.

  5. This is a shameful day for Thailand.

Seems like every gotdam day is a shameful day for Thailand, lately.

And I say that from a place of love.

It's beginning to wear on me; all this cartoon bs.

I keep wondering when the average, level-headed, jai dee Thai citizens are going to get fed up and step into the fray on behalf of basic reason.... and then I sink a bit lower when I realze, they are- but not forming a proactive third party- they're just choosing sides and joining the circus.

    Very, very sad.

  6. Seriously, man.
Don;t you guys get tired of reading this weird nonsense?

So, under the special State Of Emergency, they need a court approved warrant to arrest the very people that they supposedly invoked the SoE to suppress, while they are in the act of trasgressing the SoE special rules?

This the saddest thing -literally the saddest , most oppressive string of events- that I have had to witness up close; this entire weird, limp dicked wannabe fake ass revolution versus a bunch of the most low budget cartoon politicians this side of the Pacific.

It's just sad. I find it increasingly difficult to understand how the average non-loonytune Thai citizen can stand by and witness this carnival taking place right in the middle of their lives.

  7. Probably a very small percentage of the "whole world" even knows where Thailand is much less care what's happening here.

The US will buddy buddy up to whoever comes out on top.

The entire story is as hypocritical as it comes.

The US foreign policy which is bent on policing and controlling the entire planet as directed by the CFR, Bilderberg Group and the BIS, is consistently meddling in other nations' political matters by arming and financing the violent forces used against the people; constantly at war in two, three or more different capacities with some other nation in order to protect its "interests"; and without fail supporting any totalitarian leader it can be in cahoots with IF it means the US interests are advanced. "He may be an asshol_e, but he's our asshol_e" has been the US mantra involving foreign thugs running their little fiefdoms for decades.

In short, the US has no international buddies, only interests, and it will turn a blind eye or help cover-up the worst human rights atrocities imaginable if it puts a buck in their pocket.

The USA is not waiting to see who comes out on top. The USA is directing events through Thaksin as its political proxy in SE Asia.

So how long have you been working in the Pentagon?

    Or was it CIA?

Aren't you worried they'll pick you up for passing out secrets which you clearly must have gotten from a high security clearance

Cus, I mean, how else would you know the internal motivations of individual humans at the top of politics inside America?

Your description, though no one could say it is entirely a fantasy, sure as hell does sound like an unimaginative caricature of the bad guys in some cheesy action film.

My personal favorite was the part where you anthropomorphized foreign policy and siad it a bad friend. heh

    Silly.

  8. Probably a very small percentage of the "whole world" even knows where Thailand is much less care what's happening here.

The US will buddy buddy up to whoever comes out on top.

    Exactly.

People have deep misconceptions about the American psyche.

The average American doesn't give 1/100th of 1 sh*t what goes on in Thailand. And by extension, neither do the politicians.

America wants a stable trading partner.

    No more and no less.

To be prefectly honest I don't see why this message is stirring up so much hatred.

Have to wonder what possible combination of words could Obama have said that would not bring out the knee-jerk haters.

  9. Right, because it's impossible that plain-clothed terrorists walking among the demonstrators could have had accomplices among the protesters, covering cameras in the guise of demonstrators to cover an attack that they would have anticipated.

    See, this is fun.
You dont have to have any information at all to dream up a plausible conspiracy theory. heh.
Makes me wonder why people put in so much effort to make implausible ones.

  10. " We're prepared to use the emergency decree... Everyone involved including the police, the military and the government is considering this option very seriously but has not yet come to an agreement," National Security Council chief Paradorn Pattantabutr told Reuters after a meeting with Yingluck. "

The correct reading of this quote is ...

That was very well written and apparently from a point of view and with a depth of knowledge I don't recall seeing before. Thanks for posting.

... is what every comment from #19, forward should probably have just written while they were thinking about what they just read. heh

    Great post. Thanks.

  11. "Executed"??? Call it "murder" <deleted>....

    Who writes this drivel?

    May she rest in peace...

Well, considering this is Thailand, and those words are in fact interchangeable in this context, even to a native speaker; perhaps you could also regale us with your vocabulary critique of the Thai language version of this story.

Please elaborate. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about and zero knowledge of the Thai words which could be used in this context.

I never claimed to. That was pointless statement.

But if you would like me to slowly explain my point, it is this:

People that live in glass houses should not throw stones.

What is the point of harshly critiquing a non-native speaker when they are doing you the favor of writing in your language because you haven't bothered to learn theirs, despite living in their country.

Is there anythign else you would like explained for you?

As such an erudite exemplification of your native language perhaps you should really know that the words, even here, are not interchangeable, even in this context, and yet you seek to educate others.

Could you explain the mystifying phrase 'vocabulary critique'? Are you really sure the word 'regale' is correct in this context?

O, to be such a self-assured person as yourself. We honour you for your self-worth.

    1. I am not the one claiming verbal superiority to anyone, so this is a strawman argument.

    2. Homicide > Murder > Execution.

In common vernacular, "execution" refers to a style of violence, rather than the carrying out of an official sentence. That they are interchangeable in this context isn't even controversial. This doesn't even take into account my original point that the definitions are so similar that a non-native speaker shuld be forgiven for confusing them

    3. Regale: verb: entertain or amuse (someone) with talk.

I would find it very entertaining to hear one of these grammar police take a break from tearing down second-language columnists to take a crack at Thai language. And yes, it is the correct word in this context. Thank you for pointing it out.

By my count, you wrong on every point.

This first lesson's on me, champ.

    Your welcome.

  13. I've died and ended up here; in some nonsnsical bizarro world where up is down and sad is happy.

What happened to shunning wartime profiteers?
Is that just not a thing here? Shame in benefiting and profiting from the misery of your fellow citizen?

This is a revolution, is it not? This is a war against oppressive powers, is it not?
    Shame on these people.
