Raja Ferry’s are a total embarrassment to the tourists who come to visit the islands in the gulf of Thailand. The run down ships spew massive dark black clouds of exhaust extending for hundreds of meters day in and day out. Sitting on my beach house balcony in Koh Phangan I have watched countless sunset spoiling Raja Ferrys. Take some corporate responsibility and drain the tanks on each ship, sink the fleet, create some dive sites and structure for fish and buy some decent ships!

Yes it’s been full for the last 2+ months. The island is on fire at the moment and prices have jumped fast. I have heard multiple stories of people showing to to resorts prepaid from booking.com and being told no room and I know multiple people who have given up looking and moved to Samui. Spend time looking before you come and don’t expect any discounts.

Not only Koh Chang. Koh Phangan, the island know for loads of rental houses, is already sold out. Gonna be a busy busy busy season in all the islands. Not looking forward to price gouging stories, but as a restaurant owner I am looking forward to making up for 14 month straight period of losses over Covid.

Koh Phangan best all around island to live seasonally. Large supply of 1-2 bedroom rental houses. Surprisingly good restaurant scene. Big box stores when you need them. Beautiful beaches with decent snorkeling and amazing sunsets. Fishings a bit tough but your in Asia so most been netted up already. Interesting international crowd living here ranging from vegan yogis to Harley driving motorcycle gang guys to stoned party cats. 30 minute boat ride to Samui to catch flights.
