Your problem is Indians aren't big spenders , they would much rather share and save and the baht is still to high for them to spend up just like most tourists . The only hope is that the economy crashes sooner rather than later and tourists can afford to come back but until then this is what to expect .

But they just said in the article the average Indian tourist spends 10,000 Bht a day compared to 5,000 baht a day the Chinese spend! HAhaha WHO makes up these figures?

  2. That'll fix it! DON'T cut anything from the deadwood at the top don't cut any of the "do you know who I am" perks.Cut staff ,quality and service, and the Thai way,put the prices up

    Imbeciles.

I was in an Air New Zealand lounge a few weeks ago and compared to the Thai Airways Lounge in Bangkok it was so much better quality of food and service.

Ok I admit Bangkok was much busier than the airport I was in but even so it left Bangkok for dead.

Don't worry the Chinese and Indians are coming to save the day!  One day it is good one day it is bad!

Does this mean for retirees and others no more income verification, no more money in the bank, no more TM-30, reduce ATM Charges, no more duel pricing?????

I doubt it.The first time I saw the "thai way"was about 20 years ago in Pattaya.they was a big slowdown of tourists,so what happened? All the bar prices went up, to screw the fewer customers more. The logic defied me .I always thought more bums on seats lower the prices and  sell more but that's not the "Thai way"

It's not just factories that are struggling and it's all because of the strong baht.

I got talked into buying a girl a bottle of San Miguel beer last night at a cost of 140 baht (nearly four quid in UK money) That's in an open air beer bar! I won't be doing that again in a hurry.

That same beer in the same bar was 130 baht the last time I was in Pattaya in July. It's now the start of high season and that bar is not much busier than it was back then.

Punters can't afford these prices any more than foreign importers can afford to buy Thai exports at such inflated prices.

Same with the Aussie dollar. Petrol is  near as damn it the same price as Australia.A cup of coffee in a coffee shop is about  same .

As @Estrada mentioned already > downloading the Section 38 app, or registering on the IO TM30 website will allow you to file a TM30 on-line.  Registering on the website and filing your first report is not difficult at all (provided you have clear instructions on how to do it).  Once it has been set-up and first report filed, later reports are a piece of cake and take less than 1 minute.

PM me if you need more info on how to register.

Note: There are rumours that proof of having a TM30 filed, will not be required anymore.  But at the moment it is still required, and non-compliance enforced at some provincial IOs.

Thanks for that offer Peter, but I'm a dinosaur and ,believe it or not, I use an old flip up phone not a "smarter than me" touch phone.I might go to the local office in the next couple of days and see if I can get it on my missus's phone.Another problem is that I'm here for 2 or three months then gone for 3 or 4 .I  have then  been fronting at the local office when I return, which has been relatively pain free.

I was at CW Bangkok 3 weeks ago and they confirmed that there is no longer a requirement to do a TM30 report when you travel within Thailand, only when you exit and re-enter Thailand. This would apply to all immigration offices. Any problems refer them to head office in Bangkok. You just download the Section 38 app on your smart phone in order to do the TM30 reporting. The first time you apply you will get a user name and password. Once you have that you do not need to visit immigration. You can also do your 90 day report online.

Thanks Estrada, this is good news .I hope it gets through to the Ubon office!.It's no hassle to visit immigration to do my registration when I arrive or an extension but to report with a signature from the owner of the house I rent every time I wish to do an overnight trip is.for instance I was planning a night or two away next week but the owner is going away for a week so wont be available to sign

to say I'm back until the week after.Very inconvenient.

  7. Thank fellas. The info I got was from the Ubon office so I guess I better do it.I put off a trip because of this stupid rule.I used to often go for a night in Khonkaen,Nakon Phanom or where ever then return next day but now it'll take a morning at immigration afterwards I'll need to re think. If I go it will be a few days at a time [or not at all!]

  8. Does anyone know "positively" [I know this is a ludicrous statement in the LOS] if we have a night away from our registered place,do we need to go and report to immigration? I was told a few weeks ago by an immigration officer that we do but I read on TV last night in a post that it has reverted to "only if we leave the country and return" which was what I was told by the same immigration officer six months before all the latest "crackdown B.S.".
