Cash is NEVER cheaper than electronic payment systems. There is a much higher cost to handling cash..........or you think Makro pay their suppliers in cash

Where in Portugal can you get low cost housing. Food is certainly not cheaper than in Thailand. I don't see anything particularly attractive in the tax rates either - do you have evidence to the contrary.

It is not complex at all. Had you Googled (or done some research on here) you would quickly discover that is not possible to get a Schengen whilst your GF is in the UK on a standard visitor visa.
