  1. Starmer will be one of the luckiest Prime Ministers in history. From May through to Sunak the Tories have handed government on a plate to Labour. Anyway 5 years of more Conservative policies, hopefully overseen by better government than the real Tories managed.
  2. Pedantry! People who don't vote, don't count. Same for the upcoming election; when Labour are announced as winners their percentage vote will be recorded as a percentage of total votes cast - not including eligible voters who couldn't be 4rsed to exercise their democratic gift.
  3. Absolutely true. Unfortunately, your man is one of the loudest voices in the vocal minority!
  4. I will stand corrected but I believe 800k for the initial 90 day Non-Imm 'O' visa does NOT require seasoning. The seasoning only applies to subsequent extension application.
  5. Your understanding is incorrect.....................obviously each Immigration may view things differently. I know several people who have entered visa exempt and gone 'O' Visa 90 days then 12 month extension - via their local Immigration office.
  6. Just to be clear, 2,000 Baht is the minimum fine. If a foreigner staying in the kingdom over 90 days without notifying the Immigration Bureau or notifying the Immigration Bureau later than the set period, a fine of 2,000.- Baht will be collected. If a foreigner who did not make the notification of staying over 90 days is arrested, he will be fined 5,000.- Baht. https://www.immigration.go.th/?page_id=1666
  7. VfS have no authority - full stop . Terrorism, money laundering etc, etc will be the lame-ass government requirement that drives HMPO.
  8. I said they don't receive them, I didn't day they couldn't get them. I am sure you are aware that not all banks issue them on the spot.....a friend had to wait 3 days.
  9. If you have time get your wife to copy her passport ID page and write:- "I confirm that my husband Mr Baneko lives with me at 1 Acacia Avenue, The Heights, Hong Kong" Then she signs it. Liverpool are not obstructive and have accepted such evidence before. For expats living in Thailand it can be harder because they don't receive bank statements etc. If you can do that, don't let VfS try and tell you it is not on their list. They have no authority, just advise them to submit as presented.
  10. In a similar vein the passport photos don't need countersigning either - unless your appearance has changed significantly from the current passport.
  11. Do it now. The homeowner should do it but Immigration will ultimately hold you responsible if they don't submit the TM30.
  12. It is actually a common problem. As stated above not all Thai cards are set up for international payments. I have to assume that you do not have a UK bank card because nobody would suffer somebody else's exchange rate/card processing fee . Also as stated above, get a friend (who is prepared to disclose his cvc number) to make payment for you. Any 3rd party can make payment ie an agent like Key Visa (although they gouge you on the cost). If in doubt ask Liverpool for the options available.
  13. I am encouraged. As odious as I find Thaksin, I am amongst the first to acknowledge that he is not stupid. Being not stupid hopefully guarantees that the idiocy of the ramifications for expats never sees the light of day.
  14. One month would have achieved the same result. Less paperwork (but enough to evidence financial adequacy) is best.
  15. You need to show the appropriate amount to cover the costs of the proposed visit. Unlike Schengen visas there is not a specified amount per day - £2k would not come close in my case so you need to satisfy the ECO that the amount is sufficient.
  16. It has been said before that Jomtien wants you to do the first 90 report personally, after returning from abroad. They also required you to have a 'current' TM30 receipt prior to doing 'business' at that office.
  17. A friend's wife in the UK obtained Leave to Remain in October 2021 and that expires on 30 April 2024. The issue is that they have overlooked the fact that expiry is imminent. The situation is compounded by the fact that the applicant is currently on a 2 month holiday in Thailand. Is she able to apply for FLR from Thailand? Whilst this oversight is entirely their responsibility I am surprised that there isn't some sort of 'reminder' from the UK authorities.
  18. Not until the girl has bagged up.....
  19. I think the issue is that there is NO system between DWP and HMRC.
  20. Lucky that I was there 2 weeks ago 🙂
  21. So, do you still think my post is "nothing to do with pensions?"
  22. Shantaa Resort restaurant has a view over a pier like that.....
