Being a loner in retirement
Depends how long it takes you to die; depends whether you want someone to administer pain killers when you are writhing in agony and can't get off your ar5e, let alone get to the medicine cabinet. I am not trying to build a case for not being alone, I am just suggesting that people picture the potential end game. If they haven't already taken steps to ensure where/how their assets are going after death then they probably haven't considered that.

PoA ceases on death. A Will is certainly worth thinking about. First think about what you want to happen to your assets and take from there. I have seen oved ones lose out on a lot of money because that didn't happen.

Probably not, but I was alluding to the terminal phase before that.

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
You do seem to be unnecessarily devoting an inordinate amount of time to this subject.

Being a loner in retirement
As long as you have come to terms with dying alone, (worse, almost dying alone - and then dying BECAUSE you were alone) that is fine. Some people worry about that.

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
Au contraire. Not invested in Thailand at all. What I spend in Thailand is from cash flow and once spent has gone - whether it be a house, car or monthly expenditure. I will never complete a tax return in Thailand. Period.

Some thoughts on the taxation of income brought into Thailand starting in 2024 (US citizen perspective only)
Spot on. That is as much as we need to know for now. Others should not lose sleep over it.

90 Day Online Reporting Window
Thank you very much for that. The last link I have used for a couple of years. The first link is very informative, and detailed. It supports my point (and therefore evidence for my friend) - but it doesn't explicitly state 15 days up to the due date; yes, I fully accept that it does say "Submit a request in advance before the due date for the next report within 15 days" - and that is good enough for me. However, I am dealing with friends where a beer often rests on being able to prove something right or wrong. I just know those friends will say.... "Ah yes, it says within 15 days but it doesn't say you can do it in the last 7 days"....I know, change my friends. Ironically, that old calendar does show a tick for all 15 days. Thanks again, I really like that first link.

90 Day Online Reporting Window
Thank you @Liquorice. Do you have a link to that Immigration page - then I can file it for future reference. I am not being intentionally lazy but I have searched for ages to find the exact reference point without success. It is amazing how many people are still quoting 15-7 days before - including Key Visa website.

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
Do you normally panic over everything? Do you actually think about what you write? The Thai authorities couldn't put together a system for all foreigners to complete a tax return. Do you have ANY idea how many foreigners are in Thailand? I can guarantee that I will never need to complete a tax return in Thailand - nor will I ever pay a Satang in income tax, nor will I consider leaving on the whim of some idiot who thinks this will happen.

90 Day Online Reporting Window
I was sure that the online reporting window was 15 days (14 calendar days) before the due date - up until the due date. I thought that a previous requirement to do it 15 day prior up to 7 days prior had been changed. I doubt myself because I found 3 separate references to to 15/7 days prior on various websites........... I was trying to find an up to date Immigration link for a friend who had asked me about the window.

To Marry or NOT
That list of questions suggests "No" as the resounding answer. If you want to protect your 'investment' do it with a Usufruct. In reality a waste of time - you have identified two keys factor; what is spent is spent and you have no intention of staying put in the event of her demise. She could bequeath the house to you, giving you a year to transfer it toa Thai.......good luck with that one. As an aside, if you do decide to marry, remember that marriage invalidates existing Wills; you would need a new one if, for example, there are assets and beneficiaries back home.

Hillside is 'over the road'. Like many hotels on that coastal strip they have rooms on the beach side of the road, and hillside Quite a distant ocean view but you should pick up some glorious sunsets.
