They have science classes in junior schools, taught in English by Phillipinos generally, if parents pay extra, but the level of English understanding of the kids is so low that these are mostly doomed to failure...

Although I'm sure it wasn't intentional, & I'm not trying to say anything good about him, but I think Donald showed him the contempt that he richly deserves.....

Ok thanks Udonjoe,
I still have a few years to go before I'm in this situation, just still have my westerners thinking ahead too much head on lol

Yes I am on a employment contract with the school, I'm just trying to understand the difference, so as a "contracted employee" the school employs me but can't claim NES teacher allowance from the gov. ?
-
I am working directly for a gov. school at the moment, & hope to stay for many more years yet, I was just trying to clarify if I understood exactly what Ubonjoe was saying, as he is a very reliable source of knowledge on this forum...

Ubonjoe, I haven't got there yet but it's getting closer,
what do you mean when you say contract employees at gov. schools?
Not working for an agency but direct for the school?

It may well be in the interests of sustainable fishing that will benefit future generations. But the advantage to the EU to use this as a trade barrier, to make imports less competitive is hardly likely to have escaped their notice, now is it?
And when it comes to policing their own over fishing, rule breaking, fleets of some member countries, they aren't too hot.
The Irish and Royal Navies are always catching EU member state illegal fishing boats, Spanish and Dutch in particular.
Thailand would be wise to manage it's fishing fleets, fishing grounds, and fish stocks carefully. But the EU ain't whiter than white and lecture others with hypocrisy.
True, but the Spanish and Dutch don't use slaves do they?
-
Hard to have much sympathy for them as they've pretty well wiped out their own fish stocks using illegal nets and slave labour, and just want to do the same in other parts of the world...

The BBC is totally biased about just about everything. The UK government should shut it down.
Why would they do that? The BBC is the Tory government's biggest propaganda machine...

No, it'll be the few who make all the money constructing the dams, is cheap hydro energy worth the starvation of the millions who rely on the fish in the Mekong?
Why not go solar? there's plenty of sun after all.....

His last sentence says it all...
“However, I think that the best solution is to refrain from constructing the harmful projects in the first place, or we are sacrificing the food security and rich biodiversity of the region to projects that benefit only a few.”
Of course as money trumps everything else they will be built and the fish will be lost.....

I bought a laptop from them & had the same problem, phoned up customer service and hassled them about it, it turned up 2 days later...

I would say between 1.4 and 1.7 is about right, the lower price if you buy your own materials & don't get ripped off by the builder.
ALWAYS make stage payments, I suggest 4 & assuming you buy the materials never pay upfront for anything. Expect to sack at least two sets of builders if you want to get decent quality and if you don't know much about construction, learn because the standards here unless you are very lucky are awful...

Thanks for that Dene16 having been a builder for thirty years I know the futility of arguing with surveyors about anything....
Just smile, nod your head and wait for them to go away so that you can get back to getting the job done...

Almost certainly settling due to lots of rain and inadequate foundations, quite normal in a Thai built house. Almost certainly nothing to worry about as the walls aren't load bearing, so it's just cosmetic...

Does anyone know if there's anywhere that you could hire a pickup for a week in Chaiyaphum?
Alternatively might anyone with a pickup want to help me, I need to get my BMW 650 from Nong bua daeng, Chaiyaphum province to Pattaya to get it fixed, obviously I'd be willing to pay any reasonable sum for this....
