My Honda CB 500 F is for sale. Red colour. One year old, and only done 330 kms from new. Taxed and insured it on 20 February. PM me if you are interested.
Geoff
Think, before buying a Honda 500!!
Have I heard this story before, possibly on a topic slagging off Chinese bikes, it does make you think and the Japs have a history of covering up faults in their cars over the years, as it is considered unpatriotic to report faults. Well that's what they say anyway.
Pretty heartbreaking to spend all that money for reliability and not get it, but the thing that perplexes me most is the cracks in the forks, that could mean death on a 100mph bike.
A good 50% of new things I have bought in Thailand have been faulty, including a genuine Seiko watch and more recently an LG Smart TV, which regularly crashes.
My experiences here lead me to believe that you cant trust anything made here to be reliable as everyone cuts corners with their work & faults are nearly always covered up to save loss of face, I also don't trust any Thai worker/professional/mechanic to do his job properly for the same corner cutting or face saving reasons...

One of two things will happen, either they will do the test properly & over 90% will fail, or they will all cheat, as they wont sack teachers, no prizes for guessing what will happen.... Keeping everyone poor stupid, seems to be one of the main aims of every Thai government, elected or not...

I may have a solution. Where I live there is a rumour going around that this female spirit is after young boys. You can avoid this if you hang a red shirt outside your home stating no young boys live here. Part of the rumour is two young boys died in there sleep. There are red shirts hung everywhere. Now start a rumour that anyone who burns trash a spirit will visit your home and take the first male in the household. The only way to avoid this is by putting trash in bins. The rumour will spread and bingo you can breath again.
Ahh thanks, I've been trying to find out what the hanging red shirts business is about & the missus wont tell me, afraid of looking stupid lol

Wouldn't want those farang teachers to put crazy ideas like democracy in those kids heads....
Sing songs, bow, shut your mouth... education Junta approved.
One item missing: Be able to memorize and recite these (teachers as well, of course):
The twelve Thai Values are:
1) Upholding of the three main pillars of the country: the nation, the religion, and the monarchy
2) Honesty, sacrifice and patience with positive attitude for the interest of the public
3) Filial piety towards parents, guardians and teachers
4) Seeking of direct and indirect knowledge and education
5) Preservation of Thai traditions and cultures
6) Morality, integrity, considerateness, generosity and sharing
7) Understanding and learning of true democratic ideals with His Majesty the King as Head of State
8) Maintaining of discipline, respectfulness of laws and the elderly
9) Being conscious and mindful of action in line with His Majesty's the King's royal statements
10) Applying His Majesty the King's sufficiency economy, saving money for time of need,
being moderate with surplus for sharing or expansion of business while having good immunity
11) Keeping physical and mental strength, unyielding to the evil power or desires,
having sense of shame over guilt and sins in accordance with the religious principles
12) Putting the public and national interest before one's own
Good precepts from the king & his forebears, but how many Thais follow any of these???

If you are trying to teach someone from a different culture anything, and this is not just Thailand but any country, you have to have an understanding of that persons culture if you are going to do a good job.
Where this idea is that you dont need any knowledge of a country and can still do a good job comes from I have no idea.
I would suggest that all of these people posting on TV do several things.
1. Learn to spell. Most of the spelling on here is bad. Dont ever think of teaching English until you can write it yourself.
2. Stop trying to find things that are wrong with any requirements that make the teaching better.
3. As you have such a sad life, leave TV and try to find a life
This has nothing to do with better teaching, all it does is make it harder for teachers who actually know how to teach to do their jobs which is exactly what the elite want...

Another plan by the hi so s to stop the poor s children from learning anything, make it as hard & unrewarding as possible for falangs so that they don't teach in government schools, keep the general population as stupid as possible & maybe they wont keep voting in governments that do things to improve their living standards & stop the elite from exploiting them quite so much...

Hi, anyone know where I can get mail order Lifan parts for my 200cc dirt bike? it takes 6-8 weeks if your lucky to get anything from the idiots who call themselves dealers in my part of Isaan so any help would be much appreciated, even better if possible to phone or email them in English but I realise that might be asking a lot... I wish Thais had any concept at all about customer service, it would make all our lives much easier..

The 2013 WHO Report on Road Safety is here: http://www.who.int/violence_injury_prevention/road_safety_status/2013/en/
It makes for interesting reading and details exactly how to get fatalities reduced.
74% of Thailand's road fatalities are in/on/driving 2- or 3-wheeled vehicles. Cars and trucks, not so much!
Maybe, but like everywhere else in the world anything up to 80% of these accidents to motorbikes are caused by cars, trucks & buses. Motorbikes are always highest because you are far more vulnerable in a accident than you are inside a metal box.....

I think that the Thai attitude in general is that the only people who walk are too poor to have a car or motorsai to go around in or on and therefore it doesn't matter if you hit a few... Disgusting I know but life is very cheap here if you're poor & if your not what are you doing walking?? must be a crazy falang...

This is what happens when you move to Thailand, and have nothing to do with your life.
Probably posts here.
Probably was running for Poster of the Year.

Fair play to him, If you haven't hurt anyone running away to deal with the consequences when you are more prepared, plus avoiding a possible beating seems an excellent idea to me, Thais do it all the time for much more serious accidents, why shouldn't we????

Tried it all going to take it to a shop later in the week I think, see what they'll come up with...

Tried your uninstall/reinstall Idea Chicog, & it reinstalled on startup but still never worked.. Thanks for the thought Dave, tried that... nope..
I have 3 devices that come up in 'sounds' from the control panel, (I'm on windows 7 BTW) No 1 is LG TV invidia high def audio, which it's defaulting to. Then I have Nvidia HDMI output port 1 which says 'not plugged in' & the third 1 is Speakers, realtec high def audio, which says 'not plugged in'. I have no speakers on this system, just using the ones on the LG TV. But the mystifying thing is the Nvidia HDMI output didn't say not plugged in before & I've been able to switch the default off & use the other for Skyping but now I'm unable to in sounds.. I can disable the devices in device manager but as right now the default device turns up disabled when I go into sounds from the task bar. I have a Invidia PCI slotted graphics card with the HDMI slot but I don't think it's this as I can't get headphones or speakers to work either when I use the device bypassing the graphics card... I know I can probably find & d/l software from HP to indentify the problem which may or may not work but what I would really like to know, (apart from someone coming up with the solution of course) is if I buy a plug & play PCI slot sound card could I just fit it & it would over ride the other built in sound devices & allow me to listen from my TV speakers again, or at worst allow me to plug some speakers in & use the headphone socket as well...
I've checked the TV speakers & the HDMI lead, all ok...

Hi there,
looking for some advice, my sound has died on my hp desktop, it doesn't seem to have a dedicated sound card, just a built in one which seems to have failed, I normally use a HDMI lead which plugs into a nvidiia graphics card & the sound on my HD TV but nothing happens now, go into sound in the control panel & I can't change the default program, troubleshoot & it says that the hardware is disabled. My main question is can I solve this by buying a PCI slot plug & play sound card or is it likely to be something more complicated? I've updated all drivers, still doesn't work. I've also tried rolling them back still nothing, any thoughts anyone?

If I'd never been to Thailand and you told me your story, A5, I'd have been mortified. Even living here, still, that's one effed up thing to do. You have to think then, that Buddhist funerals full of respectful people are, essentially, complete frauds.
'Buddhist funerals full of respectful people' Who've just spent the previous two days at least partying, Dancing & drinking lots of Whisky & Lao Chow...

Merry Christmas all...

Good to know... I plan on doing that trip on one of my bikes one day...

There but for the grace of God could go any one of us. Life can be cruel and circumstances can change in a heartbeat.
Enjoy what you have, while you have it, tomorrow it can all change so easily.
Best wishes to Colin, may positive thoughts remain with you always.
Thanks to Costas for relaying the story and how it can all change so quickly. A good wake-up call for the miserable gits on here.
Roland has taken the words right out of my mouth lol...
Merry Christmas all
