  1. I get barked at every day in the village, they try to chase after me too, but on the motorbike I suddenly stop and wave my arms, hiss at them '<deleted> off!' and then they stop as well, scared (cowards) as they are. So now more often, they just bark and stay further away.

Your header says Marriage Ext. is "far better".. but you do not go on to say.. why it is?

In fact, it looks like the opposite to me ...and even to yourself as you go on to say

    - First of all, less money in the bank.  Now, 400.000 on an account, which will be  'lost ' ( well, to the wife that is..) when I pass away, instead of 800.000 ( so more to invest now ). Paperwork is no hassle at all, marriage registration certificate from local district office stamped... just send the wife.  And 2 times visit the TM office in Phang Nga, not bad at all, lovely ride and the trip is a breeze, just prepare the right documents.

    - Second;  on a marriage Ext.  ; can work, , have a work permit on it. Always good to make some money here in LOS.

  3. Best thing is to listen to your heart and do the things in life you want to do, but if the only reason is finding a girlfriend / wife here, think it over first ! You have to love many things in this country, not only the ladies...  like all the other people, the people in general, the food, the weather ( yes it can be annoyingly sticky, even after many years of living here ) and the general atmosphere here and the lack of rules and logic. I came here myself when I was around 33 and still don't regret any of it, happily married now with 2 kids, although I went through a few relationships with Thai ladies that didn't work out at all, and, yes, costed me some money also. But I enjoyed the ride !

Better to stay here a bit longer first, and see if you can make some money as a teacher ( and deal with immigration in this country ) and try a few different places ( and ladies ;) ) and decide step by step.  And yes, check some of the positive comments from the guys before me

Thanks UbonJoe and Fithman, I indeed have a multiple entry non b visa issued by a consulate.

So I will be able to go in and out on my non b visa without any problem? That's great!

This used to be the case some years ago, entering Thailand was never a problem ( with a non B visum, still valid, but without a work permit ). But a few years ago when I went on a private trip to Singapore, and came back on my own Multiple entry non B visum , I got questions ( in Phuket )  ;  where my work permit was ( it was cancelled and I was in the process of switching jobs.. ).  My answer was, that I had a work permit, but I was not coming back from a visa run, but a private trip, which was true... and you are not allowed to take your work permit with you on private trips. They let me in without trouble. But,  land borders with Thailand might not be so easy.

  5. Some Thai girls can fall in love with you head over heels, but after meeting 2 times... ? Sounds a bit odd. She is 35 years old and for Thai standards not the youngest anymore...   You being the same age as her and not bad looking guy, are a lottery ticket to her. See what happens in the relationship first, and wait with getting too serious !  I married my wife after knowing her 5 years, and I am not regretting waiting that long. Better be sure

  6. Yes, You need a visa to enter.

Not so sure that's the case. If you're a G-7 passport holder, you can go over for the day, for either a 500 baht, or ten US dollar fee, with no visa. I did this, with absolutely no problem, twice, during the second half of October, which was less than two months ago. Some folks MIGHT be able to go over for free, with no visa. ( Reason I'm aware of this, is that part of the group I was with in Mai Sai were traveling on Philippine passports. The Burma immigration guy that had just processed me, said to them, "Oh, our friends from a fellow Asean nation, no charge fee, welcome!" And they got to go over to the Tachilik market for a day, for no cost, at all! They just got stamped out of the LOS, and into Burma for the day, then stamped out of Burma several hrs later, and then stamped back into the LOS, for another 15 days, with no expense.

This may well be the case, since I did many visa runs ( border runs ) before to Ranong and "victoria point" ( koh song ) and for a new ! note of 10 Dollars you can still stay for 2 weeks. Probably also possible over there. Maybe check online with the visa run companies.

  7. Glad that Immigration is looking for Good Quality tourists. Colombian theft and Chinese quality tourist.

This is just beginning of the End.

Guys Pack up , Burma and Cambodia is Kissing and Licking Farangs Asses now to move over there. Less hassle and more cuties and much cheaper and yet don't have to think too much about Visa problem.

Hmmm... more cuties in Burma and Cambodia ??

Have you ever stayed there ??

    Good luck with packing

  8. The guy is perfectly right, and even remains polite ( if any of you can understand Thai, you would hear that as well ) .

If handluggage is overweight, they should not have let him pass, and give him a chance to get rid of some of his stuff.

Unfair to let anyone board a plane, and then check again, Make someone lose face, and what else is he supposed to do then ?

Sure would be more angry than him, and would not 'khrapom' to anyone of the air asia staff !

  9. Yeah, he probably kept ordering more and more rounds of drinks, thinking his new friends would pay the tab for all the drinks he was ordering. I recall being told that certain people from a certain place have a habit of doing that. Happy to sit and drink as long as someone else was buying the rounds, but when it came their turn they would suddenly disappear (at least until someone else signaled for another round at which point they would miraculously reappear).

I go out drinking with my Thai friends all the time. I sometimes have a hard time trying to pay the bin as one of them has already scooped it. We've come up with a bit of system - each bar/club we go into, someone different pays the bill. If we sit in one place a long time and guys are buying drinks for friends/ladies, then everyone chips in. Never had, or seen, an argument over who was supposed to pay the bill but maybe that's because none of the people I hang out with try and take advantage of each other.

I think I would like to follow you around for a night and see this place where, "Thai Friends" pick up the drink tab. In all my years living in BKK, Pataya, Phuket I have never seen this happen and never, never ever have I had the luxury of a "Thai Friend."

Strange that after all the years you have been ' living in BKK, Pattaya and Phuket ' you don't have any Thai friends that you can go out with, and share the bill with you, or take turns paying on different nights out... maybe you lived in the wrong places, or hang with the wrong crowd. Here on the mainland, north of Phuket, it's quite common to go out and eat and drink with thai friends, and share the costs ( or to get invited by my thai friends and 'family' and return the favour at other times ). Bit of a different kind of friends than the tourist spot hang-arounds also... like in the pattaya story.
