  1. Surely to Indonesia, preferably Bali and east Java. People more friendly than Thais, good sense of humour, pretty good food and pretty lovely ladies, better diving then here in Thailand, a pure asian style, nice roads to drive around ( although a bit too much traffic here and there, but the north and central Bali still ok) , reasonable western food options, exept a bit of a hard and expensive place to get residence, but I have quite a few friends there who managed this, just have to pay the kita's every year, but worth it. if I would be kicked out of Thailand, would surely go back there again !

  2. Since we run a restaurant now, a few miles away from the house, the missus doesn't have much time anymore for cleaning the house so I do things myself . It is mostly small work cleaning kitchen etc. The bathroom I always cleaned myself already since I'm pretty picky if I see some dirt I want it clean.

She likes to joke sometimes to her friends like : ooo I have such a clean husband, good saa-mee etc. Basically we just share tasks

  3. What did I have to do in my 'home'country, and not here...

    - looking for my bike at 3 in the night, in the rain...

    - looking for a taxi, because my bike was stolen again.

    - secure/lock everything with lots of different locks, including my front door

    - worry about neighbours complaining about noise

    - worry about police following me, after one or two drinks too many..

    - use toilet paper ( yes, again...)

    - spend lots of money on warm clothing

    - spend money on dating ladies, without getting l..d.

  4. I instantly raise an eyebrow when I read the second sentance ...

"Citing the increasing problem of malnutrition in Thai children as alarming, the South East Asia Nutrition Survey (SEANUTS) research - supported by Foremost milk manufacturer FrieslandCampina - revealed that the main reason for this was a lack of exercise and insufficient nutrients. Hence, children should exercise regularly, eat healthy and drink milk daily."

If I pay for a report ... I'm sure it can say enything I want it to say ... either in Asia or the West.

Well, paid or not, It is pretty clear that kids here in Thailand could do with some more Dutch milk !

  5. Khao Lak. The best place for me to live since 12 years.

Empty long beaches and access to the Similan Islands ( In the high season )

Not far from Phuket, if you need a day of shopping or party.

Lots of (still) friendly Thai people and restaurants with good food options.

All year around some bars and restaurants with expats, mostly English, Swedish and german. And a good live music scene.

Very laid back all year around, but with all that you need; medical services, supermarkets, etc.

  6. I remember the times that he was still ruling the country with Thai Rak Thai.

From hindsight, it wasn't that bad...

He did a lot for the rural people from E-saan.

With him, tourists still had 30 day visa entries..

And quite a few other things.

Sure, not all was sunshine eather,

But lets see anyway what happens when he's back.

Can't be much worse then what we have now! :whistling:

  7. quote; “The biggest challenge for us is to educate and advise our own citizens: Do not do in Thailand what you would not do at home. Nobody in the UK would go on a motorcycle without a helmet. It’s impossible. They’d be arrested in five minutes.

What a BS ! We stay in Thailand just BECAUSE we can do things here ( like riding without a helmet ) that we can not do 'at home'.
