If considering staying in LOS, yes.Disappear for about 1 year or more if you want and see what happens.....Thai style....lol
Who needs to stick around and be subjected to the sort of crap you are being subjected to.
Cheers and good luck.
If during the year the OP Mrs runs up credit card bills or decides to buy a pickup truck or get involved in any other credits, I hear that Jan would be liable as well. A quick divorce is the best option.

Wonder if they will bring the soon to be released (and completely new) Himalayan adventure bike here too?

Mate, take the majority view and move on. Rebuild your life without any of this 'baggage'. That's what most sensible people do.

Agree, that's a disappointing price.looking at the link I cant find a translate button but I did see 320,000THB for the Continental GT - that is stupid expensive even dearer than what they are charging in oz - bit disappointing, nostalgia cant stretch that far 220/250 would have been more realistic, have to wait and see I guess

All good advice but I seem to recall (from a couple of years ago) that no second hand bike registrations were being issued any more?Even if all paperwork is 100% correct, the exhaust emission test will be a pain in the butt. A standard BMW 1200cc boxer engine doesn’t pass the Thai emission test.
In Thailand the BMW’s get a special fuel map loaded, this allows them to pass the emission test. With a grey / parallel imported BMW motorcycle you not have access to this special “Thai” fuel map as you get absolutely no help from BMW Thailand if you own a grey/parallel imported motorcycle…. Of course BMW Thailand is more than willing to sell you another ECU… but they’re not cheap.
Alternative route is to install a Dynojet Power Commander V and do the setup for low exhaust emission, which will mean you have to do several dyno runs to get the emission standard correct. You can ask for prices and setup advice for this route at Dirt Shop Bangkok

You forgot SurinAlways Buriram, Sisaket or Udon Thani. What is it about these provinces?

Not too many pubs still open in UK ( as at 2015)unless it was a Weatherspoons. Maybe it was years ago??????
Your local is not really a benchmark against dining out in a cosmopolitan city, or is your local in soho?
I'm from England. Last time I was in Bangkok I paid more for a beer than my local in England. The food was also way expensive.
where do u live, need to visit your country, as now way can i buy a meal in Oz as cheap as in Thailand.... Europeans arent traveling due to one thing, economic issues, like most of the world...This is not an old thing, as one poster has said. It is relatively new. Amongst other things, one of the reasons is that word gets around of all of the scams. One other reason, as someone had mentioned, is cost. Why would tourist come to Thailand and pay as much for a restaurant meal and a beer as they would at home?

In reality a Farang isn't likely to own a house in Thailand before marriage so offering her 100% of the house should be seen as a nice 'compromise' rather than claiming half of it.

I remember 2 instances when there we're arrangements to start importing them to Thailand BUT they never happened.
Strangely enough, however, I heard from a good (Thai) biker friend yesterday that there is another rumour that they are to be imported (again) at the end of the year. This info was on a thai language forum, I was told.
IF I find any facts,I'll post here. I'd love a Conti GT for ' pottering around town'

Spend your money on a good lawyer (preferably, one that knows the Judge).
Been there, got the T shirt.
Best of luck to you.

I've seen a few "melting pots'

Most places get booked months in advance during this 'Peak period' ( also prices triple)I can't say how much the seats were last year, as we didn't bother with watching the whole show, seen it too many times. But the good seats were a lot more then 500-600 Baht the year before.
Everything else was also very expensive last year. The first time I went to the festival about 8 years ago, the kids rides were 10 Baht each. Last year they were 30 Baht each. When you have 2-3 kids along, and they want to go on all of the rides, it gets expensive fast.
Food prices were also up last year, I remember paying 20 Baht for a plastic bag full of vaguely lemon tasting water.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind burning some cash to have fun with the family, but I just don't think this event is worth it anymore.
My advice is go see the elephant breakfast and skip the rest.
Hi, if we were going to come for a look, where would be a reasonable place to stay, near the venue and close to the food places, markets etc.

All this doom and gloom but other reports on this Site state that Suvarnabhumi Airport is bursting at the seams trying to cope with all the new arrivals and we haven't reached the High Season yet.
They expect things to be quiet during the wet and stormy season but come Christmas Thailand will be booming and the flesh trade flourishing!
Never mind Swampy - take a look at Don Mueang.
I have been there about 10 times in the last 3 months and it was heaving on most occasions. Parking is nigh on impossible and a new terminal is being built. Eventually, the airport link will open as well.
Somebody somewhere is doing well.
But is that not mainly internal flights?
So no 'new money' into Thailand.

Do you still have hair?Riding a bike gives freedom flexibility in a way a car never can. It is less safe but still its worth the risk in my opinion.
When I was a kid it was, no helmet, wind through the hair....Now, no freedom with one of those lids on, with a slot to see out of....

This could have been posted every year for the last 20"ish years, me thinks.

In addition to the place mentioned in post No3 Pop In restaurant is joint run by Richard from The Isle of Wight so there is 2 places with English involvement in SSK.

I went to an Animal Park once. It was rubbish as they only had one dog.
BloodyI know I said I wasn't much on scooters, mainly cause of the small wheels. Well someone mentioned ABS on the Yamaha as being "gold", but those bloody small wheels offset any additional safety over the PCX.
How can you ride a bike in Thailand with bottle tops for wheels, even if they are "gold tops"? ABS ain't much use when you are over the handlebars and flying through the air, because you ran over a shitsoo.
The Italians invented the scooter and they put hairdryer engines in them for a reason and even back then Italian roads were better than Thai roads today, so 155cc with fuel injection?...not for me....
ABS? a parachute would be better.
Bottle tops
Shitsoo
Hair dryer
Parachute
Such insightful commentary!
...or a black belt in bullshit?
You decide.
It was a Shitsoo

Sorry for late reply and only a best guess too. Hong Kong Garden restaurant has many sporting events on show. See FB page for details.I am in Sisaket for the evening, and i am looking for somewhere to watch the wales rugby game tonight. Does anybody have any ideas for somewhere i can watch it on a big screen?
I have my computer, so I can watch it on that, but i would prefer something a bit larger.
i could probably ask in a bar, but my wife will be accompanying me, so i don't want somewhere too seedy. a little seedy is fine though.
Cheers

......... In the sub 150cc scooter world - The PCX is king ....
PCX =153cc about 120 kph no anti-lock brakes don't know HP above 70,000 May need seat bump removed.
N-Max= 155cc about 117 kph has anti-lock brakes 16 HP, I think about 67,000 Feels comfortable
I believe the new model PCX has no 'seat bump' to remove.
