  1. More.....education is key to behaviour change.  The needs to be addressed as part of the school curriculum encouraging use of protection and the ramifications if not adhered too.....perhaps police should be teaching road behaviour and graphic examples of non compliance ?

Sounds a good idea but that would change nothing. I work in a Uni with approx 13,000 students. Crash helmets MUST be worn on campus with guards controlling it. Most students carry the said helmets in baskets or in hand up until entering the Uni.

Education is completely pointless without policing the roads & harsh fines.

The news came from a cop in the hood and I doubt that these people would make "things up."

It later turned out that the poor guy had missed his destination and wanted to get off the already driving train. And unfortunately broke his neck by doing so.

So no foul play involved. But one point is a little bit strange. Why would somebody count the money after a guy passed away, lay it on the ground and shoot a photograph to show that on a few Thai websites?

Rumors are (were) around that the guy carried a lot more money, but such a photo is the best proof how much he had on him, right? :jap: RIP

I think the money photo thing is just photographic evidence to confirm what was at the crime scene , Bro !!!!

  3. Thanx guys for these interesting contributions,
I found an ad which i quote :
Has green book, taxed and insured....
As its a grey import bike, if you wanna register in your name in the green book you have to do it with an agent !!!!!
What does this mean ?? Why should I need an agent ???

Do not touch it, it's a scam. What they call 'agent', others might call 'counterfeiter/fraudster'. This ad 'might' be from Thai who knows 'sweet Fanny Adams' about customs/taxes etc.
The days of legally getting grey imports registered have long gone. These bikes are usually models that were not tested by Dept of Transport engineers to say if they are roadworthy and allowed on Thai roads.

  4. no protective safety equipment on motorcycles KILL???

If in an accident, maybe. But by not wearing the kit does not mean you will be in an accident.

Besides a helmet i have ridden from Pattaya up to the Chinese border, down to the Singapore border. Road 10k + km around Vietnam in shorts, sandals and T shirt. No doubt i will get slagged for that, but not wearing it does not mean you will have accidents and die.

Very true but if you do have an accident, the likelihood of serious injuries multiplies greatly.
Your life, live it but don't take anyone with you, if it happens.

  5. It is worth remembering that when it was commonplace for Thai ladies to go topless there was little in the way of motor bikes and cars driven by intoxicated idiots.

There is no doubt that topless women in the street are a distraction to drivers.

The authorities are simply trying to cut down on road casualties. OK; so their thinking is completely ting tong but that's Thailand through and through.

Well, look on the bright side. At least here not made to dress up looking like bin-bags 24/7

  6. Speed doesn't kill. I've been travelling at speeds of 500-1000 mph all my life, as have most life forms on the earths crust. It's the sudden differences in speeds. So my suggestion is, prepare gladiator games for those in need of speed and reserve public roads for actual transport.

True. It's the stopping that really rucks things up!
