sorry to tell you that in my opinion it is your fault, but you are not alone like this.

Most of foreigners they want the thai woman to live like us because it is nicer and better......it is wrong !100%.....they are not used to it....they don't understand it and they don't like it....perhaps at the biginning yes but at the end no!

i give you an exemple:

in my resort i have shower and hot water ok......but the father and mother of my wife when they come to my house go to the public toilet and clean themself as they do it in the farm. we have to let the people be what they want to be!

another mistake not to make:

never pay...never ever..police, girl friend, wife, family...what ever !...... instead if you want to help give the oportunity to work and earn money.

thats different and they will respect you more atthe end !

i am abroad right now to get better, so today as every day i speak with my wife and she told me that some STUPID cousins... i dont really know , came to our place and seing that she does take care of our resort alone and does fast everything alone, told her that she should find her another farang.....IT IS NOT WORTH WORKING SO HARD because if she has a farang husband she should be relax sipping whiskey or whatever with her friends.INCREDIBLE!

I get mad when i hear this...!

it is not a joke, i heard THIS many many times from thais, i know thousand of stories and thats exactly how this people think... to them farang are here to pay only.

i only give you an advice...

as i did ....take the time to learn their own language to know what they think and have in their half full coconut...!

The thai politic and the very high class thai society in my opinion is STILL 100% feodal and conservative.

They dont care about thailand, there own country,NO.. this peolple do care about money, power and to be above the rest of the thai citizens.

as you can see the fight is only in bangkok in a few places , the normal thai people take this situation as a joke as usual... they have seen so many....that one more...doesn't really matter !!!

i stayed 5 years in bangkok and 5 years in a little village in issan zone where i build a little resort, supermarket and restaurant....and after learning the thai language and helping and knowing fast everybody from my village i have at the end the same meanings as the person who made that post.

i speak 6 foreign languages,so i lived in all those foreign countries before and i can say today that western or europeen are too diferent from thai or asian in general.

we can't eat what they eat everyday.at least not in my village, i tell you

exemple: we make food around a big family table, them they eat everybody in a diferent corner, when they full up ...they go!

we dont drink as they drink and what they drink. they are usualy dead pissed on the floor after a few hours.

we dont think the same way at all.

we have knowledges and they are primitive in many ways.

they use our technology but they do with it the <deleted> they want only

if thai ask us a favor we give it for free, if we ask them a favor ...we have to pay or give a tip.

i work with my wife without dayoff, but the rest of the village do nothing all day long.

and to finish, the authorities treat us like shit, stupid visa rules, money locked in a bank for 3 mounth, showing up like bandits every 3 mounths, we cant have nothing on our name, well u know the story.

so i said to my wife who agree 100% with me.....what the hell are we doing here?what the point?

thats a lot of good reason to sell all my wife's properties that i paid anyway like everybody and 100% i go back to the civilization....!

the laws should change a lot to make me change my mind

the concept amazing thailand is not amazing at all and the land of smile is absolutly not like in a travel agency book when you leave there all year long.

To have or to carry a gun in thailand without a permit is a big crime....

don't be afraid , if you have time take a picture of the person and report to the police,

For sure these young fellows on the photo don't understand why some people have gold, the last expensive smart phone, plenty money in the poket, nice hotel room or house, always pretty young girls on their arms and they......they have to live in a shit place, eating rubbish every day and getting the uggly pussy one from the village for wife, because the nice one prefer to go with foreigner....well they are jalous man ...i know....and i think it is normal....!

the billions of bath that thailand make every year with tourism should be used since long time to give a better life to his citizen, but as usual some take the all cake for them and the rest of the population is there for the tipical amazing photo only.

the clever way to be in those countries but not only....... is to show as less as you can, and keep your gold to go to the oscar event.

I allready sais it before It s funny how in thailand police can not make any photos without telling people to point with the finger where the shame is.

Time is an illusion. WE Westerners are more advanced in many things compared to Thai but they are miles ahead when it comes to understanding time.

Especially in the tourism area , they don't know the peolpe, they don't know foreign languages, they don't know how to work propely, they don't know our test, what we like etc etc ...., they know nothing about us, only that we are all farang with money. ..and thats exactly what they are looking for...our money man...they don't give a shit about us, but they love the smell of our money!

-thai tour operator only for thais

-farang tour operator only for farang

fair enough..no?.. where is the problem?

i have also another great idea for the government:

make it simple man !

1) close thai frontier to all farang

2) kick all foreigners out of thailand

3) make thailand only for thais.

should be easy to do......like this it will be clear for the farang not to come, no to invest , not to buy a house on our wife name , a car , tools etc etc , not to take care of a big thai family free paquet who come also with the wife , no to pay for a stupid visa, and not to have all our money blocked in a bank account for edges , again just for a new visa.and more ...and more...!

There has been a move this year to stop foreign wives who have never paid any tax or national insurance contributions from getting any rights to claim money based on being married to a European. The UK Government is therefore stopping all payments to Thai wives that have never worked in the UK. If they have worked in the UK, then they will be entitled to their own pension based on how many years they have paid contributions.

This should lead to a reduction in the number of apparent suicides of married Ex-Pats, once they are receiving their pensions. I know of a number of "Black Widows", who have married several Germans in turn, that have died leaving the houses and pensions to their Thai Wives. One Thai woman from my wife's village was actually a lesbian and her friend that lived with them was actually her "Tom" husband. The last time I saw her she had a bar on Soi 8 Patttaya and her 3rd German husband had just died due to "alcoholic poisoning" and she was asking for help to get hold of her German husband's pension from Germany.

I live in Bangkok and the protests have not affected me in the least so I would have no problem recommending for any friends to come to Bangkok, no different from any other capital city any ware in the world good and bad every ware in the world.

well i am going to tell you why....issan is about 90% red shirt, so they went to all villages and gave money to all old people or people who are not working to go to manifest in bangkok.they organized everything, buses, train etc and everybody get paid just to sit down and do nothing,...so why not going ?

and now i ask myself......where does money come from ?who pays?

2 weeks ago we had new election for "ho bor tor"....(like to elect the new maire or boss of the institution of the village), well same story, people interested in winning go to each house , talk to people and give money to get the vote from them, they also buy a lot of alcool, like this they get pissed they are happy and next day they go to vote.myself i am against this, so i told my wife not to accept money, so sometimes they come with some beers just to make friends, i am not going to change anything anyway, so we have a free drink.

thats the normal way the people get elected, at least where i leave, but i am pretty sure must be the same every where.

I would never, ever tell anyone to stay away from BKK, it is fine, always has been and always will be. I'm pretty sure it is alot more unsafe from the cities the tourists come from. Riots in London, Spanish ETA etc....oh come on

in a country where there is the rich and the poor ....and the poor get really fed up , there is a chance that one of them quiet a bit jalous about your lovely farang life style kick your ass one day.

my self, i would say to all foreigners who go to bangkok or anywhere else in the world to be only very carefull when there is big political problems like in thailand.don't convert your holidays in a nightmare.

To finish i would advise you that in your case i would not buy land "nor sor sam" chanot or whar ever with someboddy thai or not.

1)most of the time it is illegal.

2)i am not pessimist but there many, really many chances that at the end .......you are going to loose everything.

3)buying is not really a problem because they will let you do it , Estate Agents or the person interested will arange it !..... BUT selling and getting your money back in case you want or have to go ... really IS a problem .....sometimes after a while they just kick you out !!!

4)don't do funny things, you are new here so you better follow the thai rules or they will go after your money one way or another...., you are old allready, you said so find a nice place where to live with good people around, PAY your rent , the rest will come by itself

Things in thailand are changing very fast recently, i think you have no idea about whats going on, what kind of laws the thai institution make for farangs like you, me and the rest of us.

I love that kind of news because if you know thailand well, it is like the country is anyway. .....like a person with nice clothes ...well some...but bad smell and dirty inside ...very exotic.DON'T YOU THINK...there is people who like it that way.!! streets and markets full of "funny" odeurs, garbages everywhere, electric or any kind of cables in the sky everywhere,really dirty and sick dogs or cats every where , old trucks and cars or what ever running, making polution like a hell, an hawfull and creasy architecture every where.

In my modest opinion, the only thing that are thais today are the temples, palace from the king and the old thai mansion from rich people, the rest is like every where in the world when they want to make money quickly. india or china etc etc..

The seas, the beaches or rivers are contaminated,they receive all the dirty waters from ALL BOATS hotels, resort or vilages or towns, i have seen it with my own eyes plenty of times in many places and people make 20 000 km or more thinking in the beautifull beaches, white sand that they have seen from travel books ...and they get that kind of surprise at the end ........recently a boat full of petrol broke in the andaman see, in the other side the chinese see totally grey also receiving tons of garbage everyday with the current ...and now this too..i forgot also the last "unpredictable" floods.

well well well... it is hot today in thailand!

so thats how thai government is trying to increase tourism or try to convince us to spend our money overthere...on holiday? If i was a thai citizen, i would ask myself what they do with the bilions of dolars they make with tourism.In ten years in thailand the only changes i have seen ...where on the visa rules for us.

Now perhaps they should clean a little bit, like i have seen in hua hin, using the all schools full of student, 200/300 i did not count but they where many, to clean the beach instead of giving them classes and prepare them for a very competitive world.

Thats incredibly funny how thai police like to be on pictures, for everything they get, they catch or whatever they do, they are always sticking on all the bloody photos LIKE a HUNTER showing his dead PREY.....what an ego they have ......!
