then you are not alone, i join then your group, because i also never had any intelectual conversation with a thai...where ever, when ever !......perhaps i had 10 years "self conversation" teaching my wife many things, but she always get borred listing to me.....she says i always repeat the same.....then i say well .....this is because you already forgot what i told you tousand of times.....the thing is that it is impossible to have a discussion with people who do not think like us, who dont live the same way, who are not interested with the same thing, who dont know what we know, (they never read a book for example), they only watch TV rabbish programe made for them.also they are not interesting in knowing or in arguing,

i give an example: now we have the world football cup , in my place the all bet for this country or this country but nobody knows where is that country in the world map or what language they speak...! they have no idea...! they have internet they could scheck it but they look only to the website who give the best probability to win.

so .with thais.....i already gave up....since long time ago , like many of us i guess, i talk about the weather, the view from my house, normal house things, commun staff not revelent at all and life goes on.!....all in thai of course, in english it is not even posible , in my place nobody understand it......

like boy i am that recently i found i foreign nice guy near my place with who i can have these diferent point of view about whatever.

thais bet with everything , they go to cambodgian border to the casino, bet with chicken fighting , thai boxing, pool games, futball anything where they can get a few box without working........this military government will not get rid of bets who are made mouth to mouth.... to me it is better to allow the gambling, get controll on it and get the correspondant taxes.

as i personaly know since i started to travel ...scotish never liked english, welsh never liked english, irish never liked english, french never liked english . myself , because of my own experience in england and around the world i generally avoid and do not like english people i meet , but there is many as i am.....perhaps it is because english are funny.....they are one way when they are not pissed, and they are another way (violent, stupid, sellfish etc etc ) when they are drunk and unfortunetly this happened all the time.... in thailand or where ever they are...we can see it with the football events, in england they have a big problem with alcool habits and secuently violence habits, to resum english are a mess unfortunetly.

well i would not be so drastic as everybody as the human right to get drunk, dead pissed as many does, kill himself , to be a ladyboy , a dragqueen or to get druged to death....it is his health problem and its body until he doesnt do anything bad to the others.....i think the humanity is free to do and to consum what he wants if it doesnt bother anyone of course.

to be interested to me , i would put the topic the other way round.

what can i do in my country that i can not do in thailand.......the list is long and there is quiet a lot of things like repairing your own roof, change a broken light in the bar rented by your wife or serve a foreign customer in your own resort without a work permit for example.

it is not only for critizising but work permit and visa conditions in thailand could be honestly be rewied by the new and efficient new military government.

i guess they are really busy right now, but i hope they will have time in the future to find the time to give us better stay conditions.

street infrastructure are never prepare for so much traffic..... in thailand but not only, in paris or london, new york , tokyo etc etc

... everybody need a vehicle to go to wor or work...so....the police want to make order in this by putting to people more fine.....!

in my opinion it is always wrong, all government need to develop traffic alternatives for the needs of its people to carry on there profesional activity normaly or free mouvment.everyday we are more in this planet we need organisation...no more fine and this is the duty of government in place.

This one sounds strange. Firstly the man is a Canadian. Secondly he is married and lives with his Thai wife - so I will wait out the result on this one.

if he is canadian then he is american (canada is in north america until today), secound to be married with a woman has nothing to do with the accusation......sexual assault on minor...as he has been accused, something wrong he did for sure with those 2 young boys, and i hope he is going to pay for that if guilty.

to me .. do not make any company where others are the owner.. .,if you can not trust your wife 100% to run and control a business on her name.... forget it because you can loose all your investment for many reasons.

because all thai and farang people living enough time in thailand, especially where there is some good business money farang knows that some street policeman do these things.

never give money to police officers or for some funny help ...just do and act as the law says and nothing bad will happened to you.

if there is some police abuse, ask for their name, make some photos, ask for a receipt and take some thai witneses , then report to the police station.

it looks like the thai military department, very respected in thailand from the thais have a diferent role than we are used to abroad, and in case of political crisis...it looks like they act like a referee does against 2 band of bad boys fighting in a school to protect the majority.

it looks like .....they did not make a coup d'etat to get the power of the country but to protect the population against terorist attack from red or yellow or what ever.

i am against all kinf of despotism but in that peculiar situation i think all thai , perhaps also foreigners living in thailand should be on their side..and perhaps help them to get rid of that coruption system who is going to ruin thailand at the end.

for sure i hope General Prayut Chan-O-Cha will continue in that direction (protecting people against bad minds)and restore democracy one way or another too..... asap.
