  1. we walk on the new''promonade each evening at about 9..and i see the same rude in your face standing in the middle of the walk...ladyboys...they should be shipped to ''nigeria''.....

Most other people who "promenades" there in the evenings never has an issue with LB`s.

Got official stats for that? How many do not have an issue? perhaps a survey?whistling.gif

Just because you enjoy their attention, does not mean others dothumbsup.gif

  2. The only reason why Samsung does well is because it offers much more than Apple.

Apple was and is by far much more superior product, like it or not.

Yes Samsung offers all the features, which you do not use for most of the time and are simply useless.

Samsung started to copy Apple by creating some sort of "enviroment" as i like to call it, but Samsung also started to copy Microsoft by adding all the useless bloatware.

Apple is easy and simple to use, and this is why it is popular and does well.

Many people think they will need and use all the so called extra features, where in reality you do not.

Apple is a one touch operation, while with Samsung it takes 3-5 touches to do the same operation.

Naturally after Jobs has passed, Apple kind of lost its edge, but i think it will be regained eventually.

Bottom line is Apple looks for ways to simplify things, while Samsung keeps on adding things, Do people really want a complex machine or something easy to use?!

People who say this don't realise how flexible Android is.

If you download an app called Themer you can basically completely change, on demand, what's on the screen and how it displays.

So if people want just a handful of basic one touch apps on their screen, they can.

If they're like me, they have groups for things like email, network tools, browsers, etc.

Very flexible and that's what, to me, makes it a far more attractive option than the iphone.

The iphone is still too small as well. I guess they are afraid to make a big one for fear of being sued back.

    biggrin.png

That was kind of my point. With Apple, one does not need to be tech savvy or even understand much, all is there already with just one touch.

  3. Why wouldnt they like paypal. It cost the customer nothing and offers them good protection. Of course the vendor does have to pay.

What is the problem with PayPal?

I used PayPal a decade or so ago. When I wanted to purchase something on eBay several years later, PayPal would not accept my Master Card; yes, I updated my card's information on their site. Why not? Their policy is that you have to provide a new card # when the old one has expired. USAA, the issuer of my card, does not automatically change the # unless you request them to; only the expiration date & security code changes.

I escalated the issue all the way up PayPal's supervising chain; it didn't matter. They "understood" my concerns but insisted I provide them with a new credit card #. I only use one CC for online transactions; a personal choice. So I closed & deleted my PayPal account.

Seemed to me at the time that either the owner or CEO or someone wanted to maintain a massive database of credit card numbers, regardless of whether or not the cards have expired. My guess is that, assuming that many banks leave the numbers intact just as USAA does, that it would be easy for someone to, for example, take an expired CC & simply change the year of expiration by adding a 2 or a 3, & end up with an active card. So what were/are PayPal's intentions?

If you check online, your paypal account is never deleted, they keep it

  4. Just to answer OP's original question:

The sad fact is that most of the resident Thai-illiterate ex-pats have come here to die, in some sort of comfort.

Justifiable, but pathetic in its own way.

And with no real interest in the people, culture or the customs of the country of their deathbed.

Do you mind sharing how and where you gained your wisdom on this matters?whistling.gif

  5. Our 2 companies have been using PayPal for several years. But since last week both of them have a Permanent Account Limitation. This means that we can not use our accounts. Also our customers can not transfer using PayPal.

We now have to wait 180 days to get our money, 172,000 THB and 499,600 THB on our 2 accounts. We contacted PayPal, we never had a dispute or whatsoever. They don't want to have businesses in Thailand using PayPal for doing business. There have been too many scams from Thailand. We contacted several lawyers, to solve this case. None of them is willing to take this case. There have been many cases here in Thailand. It is impossible to press charges against PayPal in any country.

A quote of an email send by PayPal:

"Any balance in your PayPal account will be held for up to 180 days (or longer as required and permitted by law). This balance will be used to offset any obligations that you have to PayPal or your buyers and to cover future refunds for claims or chargebacks that buyers may file against you.

After the 180 days hold period (or longer as required and permitted by law) has expired, if there is any balance remaining, we’ll send you an email letting you know when and how you can withdraw the money from your account."
    End of quote.
We are currently searching for another reliable payment possibilty.
    If any one has suggestions...

My friend, let me tell you some useful information.

There is no law allowing paypal to hold your money.

They can not legally do so, without a court order or police order.

They are a financial institution and do have to obey laws of that country.

Unfortunately, i can not tell you steps to take in Thailand but can tell you about my experience with them in Oz.

They did exact same thing with me.

I called them and ask to speak with a manager.

Manager stated all of the above (as per your email) Which i was happy to listen

I then requested to be told under which section of the law they had the right to hold the money.

Manager could not answer that, but stated it was in their terms and conditions.

To which i insisted what section of the law allowed them to do that, as terms and conditions if illegal are void.

Manager insisted they could, because products sold MAY BE stolen or obtained illegally.

To which, i demanded to see police report and court order.

Manager was speechless. I gave them 48 hours to release all the money or legal action would be taken, i also advised them Ombudsman would be contacted as well as Asics.

My account was open in less than 20 hours.

You do not need a lawyer to pursue it. In Thailand, they are registered as a financial company and as such fall under Thai financial laws.

Thai banks can not seize any money without court order.

Contact Consumer Protection Board and ask if they can handle the case or what Board deals with financial breaches, do make sure to make it clear there is no police order, or report or court order to withhold the money nor is there any report lodged with police in regards to your operations.

This is consumer protection website http://www.ocpb.go.th/main.php?filename=index

You can also file police report and send it to Paypal advising them you will be filing criminal and civil charges

You may find your money will be released immediately, however accounts will be closed within about 7 days, with some silly excuse such as its been identified your account is associated with some banned person.

  6. Some people must really stand out as "marks." In 15 years of traveling and living in Thailand, the Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Malaysia I've never been the victim of a crime of any kind. On the other hand, I've got friends who get clipped on just about every visit...strange. Maybe it helps that I don't drink so always have my wits about me and don't wear flashy watches or jewelry and usually dress like a poor backpacking tourist.

Possibly the smell also keeps them awaylaugh.png

  7. so he's the victim of the crime, yet the BIB is inspecting his passport. Why?

For the same reason why they make you wait for hours, then make a report, then charge 20 to 100 baht for the copy and do absolutely nothing after thatthumbsup.gif

I still do not understand, why they do not have a desk, where you write up your own report, then let them stamp it. End result is the same-total in action, just faster

  8. I don't think it is a Thai girl phenomenon. Guys do shed a fair bit as well. Perhaps the shorter hair shedding does not get noticed so much while a longer one will stay more prominent. I noticed this in the toilet water traps. Just saying.

Thats true, why do guys shed hair from the head but never from the chestbiggrin.png

If anything, as hair drops off the head it seems to regrow in places where one does not think its even possiblegiggle.gif

  9. @lemoncake...

I used to be Nokia for many years, I knew how to use them so wouldnt try anything else until one day I did, and I'm glad I did, yeah it is about habit but sometimes a change of habit makes you realise that there's more to life than what we are used to...

Same could be said about coming to Thailand for the first time and discovering pastures new...

Lifes like a box of chocolates..

Though a bit cheaper than a note 3 to get rid of after only 2 weeks....tongue.png

Did i mention i also bought Galaxy Gear with itlaugh.png

  10. To answer questions people asked:

-My Thai is basic. I understand some of it, but my pronunciation is horrible.

-Yes I have her facebook, we chat there most nights.

-I work as an English teacher at an international school. Yeah I'm young.. I started ELT at 21, straight out of university. I've worked in a lot of crap places, but my school here is fairly nice smile.png

OxfordWill your advice is excellent, I don't know why I didn't think of it myself. She is much more comfortable expressing herself on chat, so next time we talk on there, I'll just ask her how she feels about PDA, relationships, etc, using the language you suggested. Then I'll know whether to wait, keep pushing, or if its not going to work.

I also agree with bangarang that at this point, and with all the ideas in this thread, I am likely overthinking. So - I'm going to take a break from the thread. I will talk to her over the weekend, and if anyone is curious I'll come back on Monday smile.png I wasn't expecting so many replies to my topic... I do find it funny I have been called both a shy wimp, and a disrespectful jerk.

Mate, just put on some after shave and when you see her, ask her if she likes the smell.

Make sure she comes close to smell your neck, as she comes to smell, turn your head and lips will touch ie kiss.

If she slaps you in the face, you know the deal, if she is nervous or shy, that would break the waters and if she is just frigid, then you will most likely get a slap on the shoulder .

Easythumbsup.gif , Do not forget Thai girls love cartoons and silly "comedy" shows, so be funny and daring.Nothing wrong with that.

I'm into Samsung and I don't like complex I like something easy to use which I find Samsung to be...Oh and a good freind of mine was an apple man until he saw me playing with my note, he'd been an apple man preacher and everything else was inferior to him...Now to him apple sucks and he's a Samsung preacher...Funny how things like a Samsung can change you...ohmy.png

I must admit Samsungs phones do look more fun, however i still believe are much more complicated and too "bloated"

I was so breathtaken by the note 3, that i bought it. However after 2 weeks, i got rid of it, because while it was fun playing with it when bored, i found it was too time consuming in comparison to Apple to get things done,

Of course it could also be a matter of habit.

  12. If you are not trying hit and run and if you really like her why hurry? Can't you have some patience for someone you like?

    Sure I can.

But I've been seeing her twice a week for six weeks, isn't that a bit long? That's a genuine question, not rhetorical... I dont know Thai dating culture.

But I know in the UK, go more than a few dates and you still haven't even kissed.. you're going to get friendzoned very fast.

Your one true friend and saviour is alcohol. Few Baccardi's or Spy's and doors to eden will openbiggrin.png

  14. Please, if you publish information tell us if you use this service as individual or company ?

    Few of them accept individuals...

    I didn't know https://www.paxum.com and http://www.paymate.com

    Any feedback ?

paymate.com can be company or individual, easy to open, no contracts or documentation required.

slow to pay, customer service rude and pathetic, takes a few days to process the payment, not uncommon to receive charge back months later and they do not even fight for you, simply take the money and give it back

Ah, and you want us to use this service ? hahaha thank you :-)

if you read again, i did say its an option but customer service is badthumbsup.gif

  16. It's part of a self defence mechanism.

Combined with an uncanny ability (shared with other Asian women) to recognise a long black hair not belonging to them in a compromising location.

A workmate in HK had to change hotel rooms when his Korean wife came to visit, failure to move resulted in kimchi flavoured death.

    cheesy.gif

I want to hear more about kimchi flavoured deathtongue.png

  17. is it just me who finds it funny or a little sad that so many seem to assume it's a sure thing for the OP if he 'mans up' or 'grows a pair'.

I'll wager few speak from first hand experience of a 20 yr old uni student...I wish I could...

3 first had experience in the past 10 years. First one, i was 26.

All 3 were very sweet and juicy, sadly i prefer more experienced women who actually know what they want and how they want itbiggrin.png

  18. Its an interesting thread to read. Im currently getting to know a 29 yr old and its taking time.

My only advice to the O.P is to grow a pair. You are a man and must take the lead. Take the advice from other members about being in 'closed door' environment and making a move.

With any girl there has to be chemistry. At the appropriate moment, if you think that you could have kissed her then you could have. One way to find out is to say ''would you like to kiss me?’. If she says yes (which is rare) then you kiss her. If she says ‘maybe’ or hesitates then you say ‘lets find out’ and kiss her. If she says ‘no’…. ‘I didn’t say you could. You just looked like you had something on your mind’

A safer approach to avoid obvious rejection is to say "want to kiss now or later" if she giggles or smiles , its a go, if she makes an angry face or shows disinterest, can always turn into a joke and say "ok, later"

Either way would be an indication of where you stand, have shown your intentions and yet did not put her on the spot.

Both get to save the face and have a way out if its a no go.biggrin.png
