  1. Do not buy it!

Something is on the back burner, PTP calling in urgent meeting, Suthep setting a day, military helping protesters,CAPO blaming BMA.Thaksin lawyer speaking, police going somewhat quite

I think something will happened, other than PTP stepping aside.

  2. I will just pay as it is a act of congress to open these commercial accounts. Did anyone get a atm with their account or is that not a option?

lol, you right, business accounts in Thailand is like an act of congress

No ATM card for me, only few page passbooks, which again is a nonsense as business accounts have many transctions, so one would think passbook be little thicker than a few pages :)

  3. First of all, why the hell were they carrying large sums of money in their pockets/wallets like that? Probably since they were too cheap to pay the extra ATM fees. If you don't want to have those fees add up, keep your big money in a safebox at the hotel. In Patts I rarely carried more than 2k-3k baht with me at all times, since I knew if I did get my wallet stolen, they'd make off with a piddly amount. Plus, living here in Thailand I'd rather pay an extra 15-20 baht in atm fees when I ran out of money, but keep my cash small while I was out on the town. I guess it was the (maybe) Indian mindset of being a "baller" and carrying a lot of money on you at all times. But, it's still bad they got robbed.

Most Indian tourists carry only cash with them because they can't get credit cards back home in India. But they should have kept the cash in a safe.

Anyway it's only one word that describes this: Stupidity

Sent from my SM-P601 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Funny enough, each and everytime something like this or alike happens, they always claim to be robbed of 20K-30K is that like a minimum amount in India to carry in your wallet when getting cheapest hooker?

  4. He sounds like a character smile.png

See how you go with others hopefully can find loving home, i can offer him 2 choice of accomodation.

    1. He can live in my hotel(business) together with other 4 cats

    2. He can live in my house, with other 4 cats and 5 dogs.

He may not be as spoiled as he is now smile.png, but will have big family, good food and cuddles

    PS. I am in Pattaya

Thanks lemoncake for responding. Wow you sure have a big family for him. I am hoping to keep my options open first if you don't mind. I would very much like to screen potential adopters before agreeing to anyone first smile.png I will keep you in mind and discuss it with my mom first.

Would you mind providing me some details of you via PM as well as a contact number so my mom could liaise with you if you would like to view Bailey?

Your mum can just send me PM when she is ready. I will not be able to travel to BKK, too busy with work and the big family :)

See how you go, hopefully can find him good home with "smaller" family :)

I mean where would the 11 gerbils live ? The Maid place ?

Of course its not, once you manage to make some money, you can rent one my 3 rooms, but for now enjoy the barn

  6. ^this is the dumbest post so far...... lucky you have not had kids.

But then....no succession planning for the 3 room hovel either.

Why is it the dumbest post?

OP is spot on, in many cases, she already has a few kids being raised by her mother, so why have more?

Take me for instance, if you are rebuilding a Pontiac V8 engine, I am your man.............laugh.png

Disagree with you Lemoncake. Often, regardless of ethnicity, women have a strong desire to have children from their present partner/husband, which also helps to secure a marriage. Suggest you study a bit about human nature, how it evolved and desire to populate the World, which is not only restricted to human beings by the way. Where have you both been hiding all your life?wai.gif

So in your studies of human nature, does it also show women to have strong maternal desire to dump her kids from previous partners?

  10. Yes, all banks want 3000-5000 to have internet banking for business account.yet personal accounts it is free.

Thai bank way of thinking is, because its a business, why not charge for it.blink.png

Not only that, they charge for a new passbook if you lost one, but give it free if its full. How does that make any sense?!

I opened a Kasikorn business account last year (Thai Co., Ltd) and there was absolutely no fee at all for the establishement of internet banking. Once the account was open and paperwork submitted and checked by the assistant manager at the branch, it was sent to head office and 6 weeks later email received and then passwords received by Thailand post.

Same I believe with Bangkok Bank from talking with collegues that have opened business banking accounts with internet banking facilities at about the same time as me.

Of course this may have changed within the past year. May pay to check different banks?

I have a business account with TMB, Kasikorn and Krungsi and all 3 wanted 5000 to have internet banking

As another poster mentioned, may be opening one with internet banking is different matter or may be you get free internet banking but pay higher fees

  11. The good news is, that robbers in Pattaya do not discriminate on the grounds of race and nationality and that they will apply their services for all races and creeds in Pattaya.

The bad news is, that not all victims survive to tell the tale.

Enough said; unless travelling with a group of strong-armed body guards or with 20 or more mates as protection, than best to stay away if you value your safety and well being.

Beetle,,, have you forgotten to take your medication again?laugh.png

One just needs to use little brain located above the waste line, not below.

Not to carry much cash around and not go to short time hotel with a female/male who agrees to provide the service for 1/3 of the going rate

Well I didn't have any kids, my wife hadn't had any kids before. It's quite natural for married couples to have kids.

In your case i totally agree, but OP is talking about couples who already have kids from previous times

  13. A letter received from Agoda the other day

    Dear Valued Thailand Hotel Partner

It has been reported that current events in Bangkok have had an unfortunate decrease in tourist arrivals into Thailand during this peak season. We have been through similar situations in the past and together we have worked to bring back bookings for Thailand.

At Agoda, we will make all efforts to help you re-fill any canceled or lost business as a result of the current situation.

So before all the regular posters start to claim it only some hotel, or bad business owner.

Or Claim that TAT figures are correct. Do keep in mind Agoda has about 700 hotels in Pattaya alone, 10 times that Thailand wide

  14. - Most people where I come from and here borrow money to buy their first home. Did you pay cash? I remember you inferring in another thread or three that you had a lot of money.

    - having a builder who speaks English will certainly limit your options.

    - if I were single, it wouldn't be for very long. Being able to speak increases your pick-up rate, of course.

    - I live in Khon Kaen, Amphur Meung. Ask your Thai friends about 'headmen' in all communities. If you don't have any Thai friends due to your disability, ask your butler.

    - I read some stuff about the 'Thammassat massacre' but much more informative talking to somone who was active in it. I speak to my father-in-law about the Vietnam war too as he was there.

    - some people have a superior colonial attitude and basically wouldn't stoop to the level of the Siamese. Some people don't have a single Thai friend after living here for years. The only Thais some people know are their servants. DO you drink gin and tonic?

-yes i paid cash for my home but admit that i had a mortgage for my first home (a condo) 42 years ago.

-i needed a builder who was able to translate my instructions and get me the craftsmen i required. for eleven months i was the first man at the construction site and the last man who left. my options were only limited because i was not able to supervise several crews who worked simultaneously on site.

-i am happily married since 34 years and therefore don't need to speak Thai for a "pick up".

-there is no headman in the gated community i live.

    -i don't have a butler.

-my late father-in-law was never in Viet Nam. and i don't need anybody to tell me about the war in VN. reason: i made two "tours" each nine month in 1966/67 in a combat unit and i do not like to talk about the horrors i experienced.

-calling my withdrawn lifestyle "colonial attitude" is silly.

-the afore mentioned lifestyle is the reason why i don't have any local friends. no Thai ever rang my bell and asked me whether i'd like to be his friend and neither did the ladies ask who cut my hair, giving me a foot massage and/or a pedicure.

-i don't drink gin and tonic but prefer grapefruit juice, soda water and portwine (in that order).

    next! smile.png

Have you tried the new "blue magic" soda water? its deliciousbiggrin.png
