The idea is to try and relate what you write to the post somehow. Why don't you give it another shot. Remember something I wrote in this thread is the general idea.
Or you could express agreement with PaullyW. He writes that Thais are lying pitifully boring, poorly educated folk with low morals and no interest in anything beyond the superficial. His people are modern and evolved and the Thais are ancient and simple.
I don't agree with that but maybe you do?
So you do not agree that Thai are lying, pitifully boring, poorly educated, low morals and no interested in anything beyond superficial?
May be you can explain the reasons for lawyers not knowing the law, or doctors not knowing much about medicine, or perhaps lack of inventions or total disregard for other cultures,
Perhaps a good reason for rampant corruption, heavy drinking, silliest soap opera's, poor work habits, laziness,
Reasons for racism and nationalism, reasons for students being at the bottom in almost everything (as per surveys)
Reasons for being totally ignorant in regards to the rest of the world, wars, the admiration of Hitler
Reasons for needing smart phone, while no money to feed the family, reasons for spending most of the working day either on the phone or with the phone.
Can not wait to hear the reasons, after all you are fluent in Thai, so you know and understand and hopefully can educate others

I hope she stays on in a caretaker role. She has been a steady hand at the wheel over these past few weeks. I hope that continues until the election. At least people have the choice on Feb 2
Are you joking? she has been a steady hand? she has been flipping and flopping like a live fish being fried.
Steady hand? who can not answer most of the questions and does not know what is going on.

I do not reallY get it, The red shirts keep issuing ultimatums and statements, but keep on cancelling the rally's
They keep on claiming the support, only hardly any show up
Everytime, things start to look hot, they run away and hide and again start to throw around threats.
Since they are so strong and popular, any reason why they failed to gather numbers? failed to support the puppets and cancelled each and every planned demonstration?

Doesn't matter who the UDD nominates for PM, the opposition will never accept him/her! As far as they are concerned, they are all Shinawatras.
Which they are and take orders from the clan

Ok perhaps you are a bit dim. Where did I say I wanted to master medical terminology? Your response to a reasoned reply that I didn't talk to my cardiologist (a man I know quite well) about food is without a doubt the most ridiculous and not thought out response on this thread. Go back and read and respond instead of trying to be cute. Next please.
ChiangMai Kelly, is that you?
Word of advise for your old timer, if your cardiologist does not speak fluent English, run, run as fast as you can.
If he could not learn a simple language over the years, i have serious doubts he learned anything about something as complex as heart.

Avoid conflict? Who occupied the airport or burned down buildings in Bangkok (60 civilians and 8 soldiers killed and 2000 arrested) and or what students got massacred at Thammasit university? Was it a group of people from Toronto? Who fought in Vietnam? Canada or Thailand?thailiketoo
I'm just calling attention to the reality as I've experienced it over the many years in Thailand.
Thailand's charm and that of its people is its simplicity. Thai people tend to be very simple people, for example. And, simple is fine. Many find such simplicity beautiful. Some, however, like me find it pitifully boring.
Another thing I forgot to mention is that Thais will generally do whatever they can to avoid conflict. That includes lieing and saying whatever they think people want to hear. Over the years, I have found this characteristic very poorly suited to having any realistic conversations with even Thais I've known for years.
I've seen enough posts from you to know that if I don't send you off with some reading, you will try to beat me to death with these types of aimless posts.
So, here goes. Check out section 2.2.3 and get back to me with your argument against what is written.
http://www.ukessays.com/essays/research/characteristics-of-thailand.php
You said Thais avoid conflict and I provided specific and recent facts to prove you are wrong. I have seen enough of posts from you to know you simply post ethnic negative generalizations about Thai people like, like, 1. Thais will generally do whatever they can to avoid conflict. That includes lieing and saying whatever they think people want to hear. 2 Thai people tend to be very simple people, Some, however, like me find it pitifully boring. 3. Mate, other than women 18 - 30, Thais have nothing I need. I would guess this is true for a great majority of us falangs here. 4. Despite the fact I can converse in Thai, you will find most Thais are simply poorly educated, of low morality, have little to no interest in anything beyond the superficial and have no interest in the world outside Thailand. 5. What kind of interesting conversation would one expect in such circumstances? Western and Thai people are generally incompatible. One modern and evolved. The other ancient and simple.
You are a simple ignorant racist. And anyone reading your words above would come to the same conclusion.
Do you want to know what conclusion i come to, after reading your posts? Sadly its against forum rules to express my feelings on the matter.

WitaWatWataWit,
you could be on the money with it being a resources issue that is leading to reduced level of local (non political)news.
Fakename - cheers for backing up the observation - am starting to get a bit bored with reading only about primary colours - love the local news - some of the stories are too outrageous to be anything but the truth.
OP -If you get there tomorrow could you give us an update on this thread if you get the chance. Hope it is rumour or over exaggeration - small tourist businesses have a bit to deal with at the moment without beaches being potentially damaged.
I have not seen it with my own eyes and not plans to go, i was told by my guest who took a trip there.
According to him, its a pretty big spill stretching a fair bit.
I do not think media is over stretched, i think its more the case of not telling to avoid further cancellations, as high season is no longer high for this year.
Would not even surprise me if in the mist of all the trouble, company responsible for the spill did not even report it and doing the clean up on side.

Satit told protesters that House dissolution was a first victory but was not enough for achieving real democracy and the protests would continue.
He said the Peoples Democratic Reform Committee wanted the peoples council to be formed and the caretaker Cabinet to resign. Tavorn said the protesters wanted the caretaker government to resign.
LOL Is this Satit serious does he even know what real democracy is ? a people council Mr Satit is NOT DEMOCRACY its called Communism where the majority peoples vote is ignored and a bunch of criminals rule the country with an iron fist.
GOD HELP THAILAND with idiots like these in charge.
Do where did you learn about democracy? The real one? The one YOU claim to know
-
No sorry it does not, please do expand
Please tell how it affects you personally or what difference it makes? Not on the paper but in realityListen up, people. The Democrat Party does not want an election because they cannot win. They want a people council. I pray to God that this will not happen.
Countries with a People's Council include Libya (under Gaddhafi) and North Korea.
That says enough.

I sincerely hope that the PTP have a resounding victory in the elections, again. There has been hardly any input from those supporting the PTP during this fiasco, I bet that will change.
And then see what the Dems will do,again!
There is no more Dems. All have resigned .
Those who did not come out to support, have not been paid and I doubt they ever will be for the rice

I'm just hoping that those people who saying against Filipinos are so perfect . It proves to me that it takes time to earn respect from others. Sad but true.
Yes, some of you are true saying that my country is perfect for storms and landslides I'm just hoping that you'll never experience that now or someday because I don't want other people / other race to experience that.
It has absolutely nothing to do with respect but simple reality check.
Filipino do not have "special " skills to offer over a Thai to justify higher salary .
Filipinos generally aren't receiving more than Thai employees.
e.g. A Thai permanent government employee is usually paid 15,000+, which increases with experience and managerial positions. Senior staff are usually earning 40,000-50,000 by the time they are ready to retire, possibly more if they are a head of department or similar.
Filipino teachers are usually employed for around 18,000, give or take a little depending on the school. Possible raises over time, but these would be at the discretion of the school.
Short term the Filipino package is better, long term the Thai package is better. If I could choose from either, I don't know which I'd choose.... short term gains vs long term security/gains, if I was a Thai person I'd choose the long term package, but if I was Filipino I'd probably choose the 18,000, and work on the basis that when I have more experience, I'd move to a better paying job.
These figures are based on what my school pays. I know that there are quite a few schools who pay Filipinos in the 20,000 - 30,000 bracket (And some who pay more), many of which are looking for either a cheap NES or a very good Non-NES teacher, and they then decide after they've finished interviewing candidates.
I can only speak from experience i have had dealing with Filipinos .
I advertise a job offering 12k per month, they show up and want 20k, yet no relevant experience or any other skill but English.
Looking through classifieds in people searching for job, Thai salary for live in nanny 8k-12k, Filipino asking for 15k-20k

First of all, are you Thai? If you are, tell the Ministry of Education (who has employed more than 90 Filipino teachers and almost equal number of Chinese to teach in English Program), school directors who employ Filipinos about your justification.
Show them your skill of teaching so you can convince them they are wrong in choosing Filipino teachers and it should be you to fill those positions.
I think you are just jealous, envious, conceited and selfish that you don't want others to be in their work.
Yes i must be all of the above and hence why i clearly said i employ people ie have a business and i must be Thai, this is why i call my bank in Australia
You would not be Filipino by any chance? Lack of attention paying is a trait

They talked about it on the Looktung radio network this morning.
According to the guest, the spill is actually pretty big and crews were there cleaning it already.
I guess its been kept silent in English speaking media to avoid further damage to tourism
-
Did they take any photos that they could share with us?
I did not think to ask, but apparently were given some kind of special soap to shower
-
Do not see any news or headlines, but one of my guests visited Koran Island the other day and said, there is a major oil spill.
Strangely enough no headlines.
