It is more to do with poor drainage than anything else, the subsoil gets saturated and moves.

Difficult to see in a concrete jungle but out here in the country at the moment our soil is like talcum powder and when the rain comes it will be like walking on quicksand.

When I had the house built about 15 years ago the builder said the architect had gone over the top with the footings but unlike many other houses in the area we haven't had any movement.

and let us not forget that the poor drainage even makes lit up signs (with electric trip wires) glide into the pathways, and scooters too. I'd ask "where are the useless cops to get rid of those hazards" but better question might be "Where are the useful cops? We already know where the useless ones are....."

Here we go, just your wild unproven assumptions, or are you personally acquainted with this family?

Why didn't the husband have a job? Unless he was very handicapped, there are plenty of jobs out there. Laziness is not considered a handicap. Maybe could get a job he didn't like, or maybe wanted more pay, but I would bet many of us have had to take jobs at some point that weren't ideal and didn't pay what we thought we were worth. Oh, and why didn't the mother in law have a job?

  3. Not "brand new slate".... term would be "clean slate"... but Pattaya has neither.. that implies some sort of new team running the show.

"the so called grey sector"... we talking "working girls (and boys)"? I've never heard that sector of the economy referred to as "the grey sector".

They do seem to be correct regarding many more domestic tourists on the weekend, I'll give them that.
