I was down there swimming at Karon beach about 9 years ago. Didn't see the red flags and went in. All normal until feeling the pull. Tried to get back to shore but was gradually being pulled more out. Got the clue and worked with the small incurrent when possible using more power in swimming technique. Took me 30 + minutes to get back in and I was tired. I only noticed the red flags from out in the water. Never will do it again. Hawaii I did it, but that was because of big surf not he same. Had a ball there!.

Yeah, Karon beach can be deadly even for the strongest of swimmers. again, I will never go swimming anywhere in Thailand that has red flags. That onetime schooled me.

Scams & Extortion Continue On Pattaya Beach

With all the recent publicity this scam has received in the past few weeks including complaints to several authorities ,the youtube clip showing police involvement ,postings on internet including Knife used in jet ski scam , the exact same thing is still occuring daily.

Included in these daily scams are at least two Russians and an Indian man with Turban.

Is their other foreign involvement ?

The jet ski mafia control the whole beach but the hot spots are from soi 9 to the last one close to walking st.

The Solution to this problem is Ban The Jet Skis Immediatley and make Pattaya beach a safer place , some one will end up being killed at the hands of these mafia guys.

The mafia men and women running these jet skis on Pattaya beach should never be allowed to rent them again.

It is not unusual for 15 or more people in one day to be scammed on pattaya beach.

It will be very hard indeed to stamp out this problem, no, let us say impossible and will never happen.

My friend was subjected to the jet ski scam over 15 years ago in Pattaya-Jomtein. If I remember correctly he threw a bone of 500 baht at the yelling Thais. Looking at the Thai faces on the beach, was a here it goes again. He probably got away because his true face looks crazier than almost anyone I know, but he still threw them the bone.I also believe that Thailand was perhaps a little more rough back at that time,so he got a little lucky by not being attacked.

So it wont stop and the Influential get paid on a daily regular basis. Terrific salary and benefits for them.

I do agree with your statement up above whole heartedly. Both these 2 peoples’posts are inflating for perhaps the honor of poster of the day or for the reason that they possibly believe that everyone waits to hear every word of the malarkey they are spitting out.

It is the same as an addiction. They are getting so overkill that now I find it difficult to read to get through the TV news and responses.

As noted above, this will require a way of separating waste/recycleable materials.

I make a point of separating waste into (i) paper/plastic, (ii) glass, (iii) cans and (iv) kitchen waste. This results in only small amounts of waste (iv) which has to be disposed of quickly, whilst the other containers can be emptied every two to three weeks.

When these bags of recycleable items are full, they are placed outside the front of my driveway and, lo and behold, they disappear in minutes..!! There are obviously many people out there ready to take this stuff away and make a few satangs.

The only trouble is, if I happen to place this stuff out on the morning when the official waste collection service is due to call, everything simply gets thrown into the back and crushed together with the food waste!

There clearly have to be alternatives to this!

We are we are in Chiang Mai and my wife does the same. Her intent is to help support the local people trying to survive on their mode of work and feel good that it is going to truly be recycled.

The people street collectors do not take everything. Example: Yesterday my wife left old magazines and bounded used paper out on the street. Next one of our neighbors left 4 big Beer Leo bottles next to our put out.

Result: Magazines and paper gone around 4 pm, today the 4 bottles of Leo Beer still sitting. The people don’t want to take the bottles because there is not enough resale for the hassle.

4 bottles = 1 baht. S0 40 bottles =10 baht, 400 bottles = 100 baht. Truly not worth it. If on motorcycle and carrying the weight around, it would cost you 10 baht to deliver 40 bottles or even more to find 40 bottles.

They don’t take all plastics either, but GeorgeO’s post is something all of us should take head to if we live in a place where it is feasible and in a house.

Note: The real garbage men here will take the recyclables if they are separated. The put the bags up onto the top of the truck and if no room tie them onto the sides. The do not take bottles either. They are immediately dumped. So I guess we all need to start drinki8ng beer from cans or plastic bottles. So the beer manufacturers need to start making a beer can the size of a big bottle.

So much corruption in every crevice and cranny frequently coming to light on a daily basis has become so overwhelming to the point that it perhaps has desensitized the Thai public and the international viewers abilities to go on crusade to stomp it out.
