  1. A look at their website, and it would seem to be part of the CP Group.

    Retail LInk

So this understandably could be the reason behind why the hammer may have came down so hard. Perhaps they are being made examples of, and perhaps it will spread to include both their family's and relatives as well when they can't pay the fines.

Could this possibly be just another strong influence that has to be favored, listened, and followed to the tee by the prosecutors and judges alike? Or just a true appropriate imposed sentence and fine that is well deserved and matches everyone elses sentences and fines bei9ng fair across the board?

    Scary.

  2. It's good to see the government making an example of poor people who steal. It won't be tolerated.

The sooner people realise that only politicians and police are allowed to steal the better.

That is about the size of it, except the rich and influencial as well..... Never fair for the commoners.

Remember Chalerm's kid who was a police officer who shot and kiled another and then went on the lamb, only to come back and basically have his hand slapped with a short, short sentence...

Thaskin got how many years? and his Human rights issues for supposedly ordering the murders of the drug people never went any further than just talk either.

But then again, Thaskin is like Robin Hood in the middle and poor peoples eyes.

But back onto topic. The article reads that it was not 100% proven, but from, QUOTE:The court ruled that the couple was guilty on grounds that the plaintiff had convincing testimonies from damaged persons while the defendants' argument wasn't convincing.

Who is really the plaintiff? Is it Retaillink or the prosecutor who filed the charges?

    Fair trial or not?

  3. Immigration does not do visas. What you should be thanking them for is giving you a one year extension of your permission to stay.

Nomenclature is very important and perpetuating the use of the term “Visa” when actually meaning “extension of permission to stay” is not helpful.

    TH

OK. They granted me a new 1 year extension of stay based upon my original NON O Visa.

    Guess you got me there!

And once again, thanks to the CM immigration. Bunch of good people.

  4. Spoke to my Dad today. He decided to go ahead and tried it on his own before my call back confirmation to him. So this has been the 3rd day now and remarkably with positive attitude and perhaps a partial or full remedy, he has said that he actually feels something of a change in relief for the better. No adverse affects, so, so good so far.

I also told him about the other treatments spoken, but this seems to be in his cup of tea for a first start until he sees what it can or cannot actually do, and he does not want o bite of more than his body or heart can chew.

When I become a canditate, I know where to start as well

    Thanks and much obliged.

  5. Figured no easy answer for my Dad, but he needs to do something, and anything is better than nothing.

I have had rheumatoid arthritis since I was twenty-five years old. The two substances that have helped me most are omega 3 oil - from eating salmon, mackerel and other cold water fish - and glucosomine (but you have to take the proper dose for at least 3 months to see if it will work for you). I would say that the fish is the better of the two, but I consume both. :)

I will actually try to get my Dad on the fish oil and the drink concoction until he looks into the glucosomine. I also have read that coconut juice and coconut milk aren't half bad with their different natural properties as an anti-oxidant to being the closest to Hemoglobin. But need to check, because coconut juice is actually an electrolyte as well.

I think the saying of an apple a day keeps the doctor away needs to be changed to coconut which is my new coined phrase.

  6. Figured no easy answer for my Dad, but he needs to do something, and anything is better than nothing. Bad days of misery don't cut it and has the more potential to speed up the end or speed up the want for an end of life. One thing is that he is not accustomed to taking any form of medicine, so something as easy as the drink ACV/baking powder/water is a great thing for him and his mentality, even if it only works a little, that is still better.

He is waiting to go to the VA in the USA, but they are so overly swamped they have a waiting period stretching literally for months. He likes to go there and it is his choice, so I will try to help on the flip side.

    Thanks all,

    uncletom.

  7. Not sure. Pain in the arms shoulders and joints. Could be a multitude of things or just the one.

As for PH value, need to keep things extremely the easiest for him in the how to know - how to prepare and do the program. Too many gadgets and steps and then he may more than likely become disoncerned.

Alkalizing program slow so that any detoxing symptoms are minimized....??? Explain more in depth.

Detoxong will feel like what?, the flu or and what are the potentila down sides by your opinion?

He does have a heart condition thought to be a response from his tramatic duty in the Korean war (shrunken heart), so if there is significant detoxing, then maybe it will need to be controlled to keep the ill effects minimal.

What are your' (CobraSnakeNecktie)and the rest of the CM group's thoughts on this matter. Dad is sick of the pain and is at the ripe age of 84.

  8. The topic got moved to the health section, but I need your guys answers since this was originally a CM topic. Moderator, please kindly just allow my answers to be answered inder this secondary Topic Title of Arthitis in the CM forum.

I sent my Dad the answers that I read and then went on a week long business trip.

Today I was speaking with my him in the US and he is game to try the large glass of water, 2 tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda.

It was said to ingest on an empty stomach, but this leaves still 3-4 questions with him.

    1. Take on an empty stomach then wait to eat, or can eat right away?

    2. How often in 1 day? 1,2,3,4???

    3. When? morning, lunch, dinner?

    4. Cold, room, or warm temperature for the water? Cold slows down the stomaches digestive properties, but in this case maybe it is good so this is why I added cold into my questions.

  10. Your lucky. Hopefully it isn't a nine lives thing taking you down to eight.

I killed my first Cobra about 2 months ago. Thai wife called/yelled for me to get the snake under the garbage can. She sees green and other snakes and doesn't flinch, but this time yes she did which was weird to hear(Well besides the 14 foot python that ended up int a neighbor's yard late one night). Got a stick lifted up the garbage can and it was a baby about 10++ inches. Went to hit the sucker and it stood snake wise up and flared it's sides out. Smacked and crushed its head several times, but we did not toss it into the canal because we wanted to save it for the children to see in order for them to know what not to go near. Anyway, my wife put it on the porch (not by her hands) and then I later asked her where it was. I got my stick and brought it out in the open, pointed and moved my finger about 1 foot from its head and to my surprise the head and its beedy black eyes followed my finger to the exact movement..Still alive, but crushed. Taught me a new lesson, even after the oodles of bad snakes I have killed.. Grind them and don't take any chances.

  11. Thailand are in a no win situation here. If they extradite him to the US, they piss off the Russians. If they don't they piss of the US. Tuf call!

    Cheers, Rick

I whole heartedly agree with this statement. Catch 22 for Thailand. So in the interests of Thailand having minor soured relations being short lived between both countries, the US & Russia, Mr. Bout needs to get a dish of soured food so HOT that he won’t recover from, or maybe he is allergic to peanuts.

Quite unfortunate but then no one wins all around, except Thailand in an odd way of course by barely scraping out of a possible economic blunder or massive headache the US or Russia could have given for the tat for the tit.

  12. .. sez uncle tom:

"Now going back to who I see; many foreigners are the same ones time after time being more than twice + in an extended period of time and climbing, and then some are one’s I had just seen one time but then again after some time, and then the others for the first time and I wait to see them again or will not ever again, but usually if I pin them correctly, I will see them again.

Basically I look at peoples attire and how they act in the surroundings to figure them out and their status here, as in travelers or true stayers"

....Reads like you have been in the cabin too long Uncle Tom.

But your opinion carries as much weight as the next man's, so good on ya

    :jap:

    'Gonzo the Face'

No have not been in the cabin too long, unless you refer to flying in airplanes too much recently, but had a really bad tooth extracted late yesterday and have a lot of abnormal time on my hands at the moment with up and down pain and playing kids surrounding me. Just trying to state how I arrive at my conclusions for; "to be exodus or not to be exodus, that is the question!".

Yes and thanks, all peoples opinions carry the same weight until proven right or wrong. Thanks for being in the neutral for the most.

  13. Just a generalized controlled poll, but this may help add to Influx instead of Exodus.

Bangkok has been voted the world's best city, followed by Chiang Mai, in the magazine Travel + Leisure's 2010 World's Best Awards readers survey.

Saying that Thailand has the 2 best cities #1 and #2 in the world is quite something. Also the Bangkok Mayor went to New York to receive the award which also probalby had a news paper article or two writtien about him going, thus building more popularity and consensus that Thailand, BKK & Chiang Mai, have something special going on. After peoples initial visit, this will be where the yes I want to be there or no will come from, and generally probably a yes having more people actually make the change to stay. Again, just one man's opinion.

Pinoy Welders...Very odd to say the least. Yes please do speak more clearly so I don't have to decipher or sepculate the true meaning of the post. Trafficking??? or Exploitation??? Jumping ship???

Have you got any facts to back your statements up. From what I read you very seldom go where you would see droves of expats on a daily base. Also how do you know the ones you do see aren't moving here from another part of Thailand?

    Hi jayjay0

Facts would need to be definitely presented by the Immigration. They could do this by checking the border runners to Mai Sai or Tak and then through the 90 day checker inner's, being the ones who keep checking in subtracting the ones who stop..

And actually yes, I do see droves of foreigners which I can make develop a statement from. The areas of the moat and near surrounding areas actually are not the long timer foreigner zones. The outlying areas are. Now going back to who I see; many foreigners are the same ones time after time being more than twice + in an extended period of time and climbing, and then some are one’s I had just seen one time but then again after some time, and then the others for the first time and I wait to see them again or will not ever again, but usually if I pin them correctly, I will see them again.

Basically I look at peoples attire and how they act in the surroundings to figure them out and their status here, as in travelers or true stayers, and from doing this, I can bet that my deduction of their status is more than likely usually right on the money. Now back packers are the easy call as well as the Middle Eastern families recently visiting on vacation (and there were so many of them), and even some of the Hooligan’s visiting with some more exceptions of people easy to tell.

Lots of new and established families (white and mixed), lots of new and established white couple retiree’s (old folks), as well as it seems a lot of missionaries and teachers.

You see, we are almost daily repeated shopping offenders at all the stores in Chiang Mai whether it be all of the TOPS, 2 Rimping's (last night was at Nawarat Bridge’s), both Big C's, both big Tesco's and some mini's, Carrefour and even the Makro. We are avid shoppers who enjoy looking for different bargains and new products, or just getting milk for the kids or something we have a craving to cook and eat..

In one day on search mode I can get to maybe 2 different ones in one day. In one week, I will normally visit a store 4 times and this excludes just going out and seeing anywhere around Chiang Mai as well as excludes going and doing something at one of the Malls in town.

OK, I will actually go farther to say that there are 2 reasons we go to all of the stores, one, we enjoy it as an outing and the change up of scenery is better, and two, it is in my interests to keep a watch on retail products, especially Seafood, Baby food, and Frozen meals, and consequently this is also how I know what is new, Grade A, not Grade A, sells good or doesn’t sell.

On the other hand, I do my 90 reporting as well as the next person, and that day is probably never on the prescribed day given, thus giving me a perspective of the influx new and old on not the same exact next 90 days. There is never a time that I go to the immigration and do not recognize at least 4 people, but there are lots, oodles I do not, and this seems to be more and more increasingly. Who I see I am not saying are friends or acquaintances because I am not a Socialite, sometimes someone I know, but normally people I recognize and them I if they are attentive.

I also look at what they are doing at immigration in order to get an opinion of what they are doing, their status and to figure out the time I will spend on that particular occasion.

I did say in my last writing last night that it was of my opinion, one man’s opinion, as so I will re-iterate this again today.

Up to your own, all speculation of course without true documentation..

And about the poster who said the $ may plummet, yes possibly, and to the poster who said the US would not let it go that far to near non existence, I agree it has been that way in the past that World War’s can tend to boost or actually kill one’s economy, so what you brought up is possible, but I think that the US $ will not be let to fall to flat zero because too much still depends on it around the world. Gotta see what happens, but no telling.

  15. Exodus out of here not a chance. Exodus for people leaving their perspective countries and relocating here day by day, absolutely, and in the droves. In my 18 years here, 10 of them in Chiang Mai as well as the first 18 yrs ago being an visit here, I have seen an increase of foreigners beyond immaginability. Every year it just keeps on increasing with no borders in sight.

Anyway as for the restaurants, my opinion is that people living here buy cheaper or cook at home from buying nice products from the medium to excellent products at the nicer stores like Rimping. Generally I do not frequent any Foreign owned restaurants or restaurants that predominately serve Western Food in the areas referred to in Chiang Mai like Mad Dogs the Dukes or etc. If I do visit a restaurant, it is non Western (Beside Pizza) and usually always at a Mall or Hyper mart or it will be down in Bangkok which can be Western food at any restaurant or place of choosing. Otherwise here, my wife and I cook all foods at home whether Thai (all different Thai styles - North, North East, Central, South) or Western of any style, and we do this cheaper, and it is generally always more delicious than going out anywhere, "but of course excluding specialty Italian dishes". I take it back.. I do make a Miguel’s run on an average of 1-2 times a year so far which would not keep them in business.

We have many kids so we choose accordingly to make all happy, and we do our best according to being able to do it consistently at a lower price with family activities or perhaps shopping and ice cream afterwards.

My friend imports the Amy's organic foods from the US and I see their oven and microwavable products sell great volume at all of the stores or hyper marts that carry their products, being almost hard to keep them on the shelves. The new thing I buy is a Grade A new IQF seafood line from TOPS' Cooking for Fun brand that is simply superb having 6 different items. Only Grade A IQF Seafood I know about. There are better and nicer things than going to restaurants in Chiang Mai all the time unless you live alone. If someone does not live alone then the trend is to stay home and cook with ones’ own immediate company, and this seems to be the consensus of many of my friends here. So it does not seem there is an Exodus leaving Chiang Mai or Thailand, being one mans opinion, and yes,I agree, just go look at the immigration office 5 days in a row to understand that here isn't.

No,the cop was saying Buffalo and as you know it is commonly used by Thai people the same as foreigners alike. I would be interested to know the Thai word you are thinking of, so if you could be so kind to PM me what it is because for the life of me I can only think of the ones that don't sound similar.

  17. As serious from as I could hear that 26 year old kid was when he screamed some of his answers back to the Thai Tourist Policewoman up in the basket yesterday, it did seem to take some time before the poor guy finally jumped. He had made a few outwardly moves as in testing an actual jump in his head by a semi thrust out, but then would back off. He did listen, but what you guys are hitting on may actually be true from my recalling the play by play, going through the situation in my head. He was listening but it wasn't enough, and that basket was for sure full of 4 people, 1 recue, 1 fireman, 1 real Thai normal policeman and 1 Thai tourist policewoman. Not so inviting fot the poor guy.

Maybe if he did actualy see a foreigner smiling, caring, trained, and speaking the right stuff he needed to hear, it would have ended differently. Over all, I did not see one white tourist policeman there, but then there could have been and I missed it. Now this would be a good thing for a smart foreign tourist police volunteer to get educated in. Not all of them could do it, because some of them are kind of hoaky, but one that comes off as not an idiot, is true genuine, and that everyone seems to like and could really do the job well. They would probably need to take off that uniform first before confronting someone as well.

    Uncletom

  18. Yeah, I was there and saw him up on the billboardyesterday. I was at the library looking up. Actually he saw everything from his vantage and even looked straight dab at me and me at him 3+ times. He was for sure serious and the Thai tourist police woman did all she could do. Seems like it a was like a festivalevent for the Thais, only thing they were missing was a mat and a picnic basket.

This more than likely added to him jumping, because he probalby felt he had no choice. Get down humiliated with all those people and get arrested, or do it. Not saying for sure or not, but it seemed he wasn't so straight, so I think something adultered him in some way.

Also i couldn't believe it. while at the library, a Thai police man walked through trying to act cute. He lokked up twice at the guy and yelled Buffalo at him and laughed. No telling if the guy could hear it, maybe, it was loud enough. Aftetr taht the cop non chalantly walked away.

Anyway, I was late to pick up my daughter, got home 45 minutes later and saw the jump on Channel 7 news. Now that was some video, not like the bubblegum one in the links I just saw. Today only thing left is a drying pool of blood.

Who do you reckon it was then?

I don't know - and neither do you. That's my point.

1.)*** Could it be red shirts? Sure.

2.)*** Could it be yellow shirts trying to discredit red shirts? Sure.

3.)*** Could the grenades have fallen off a army/navy/air force lorry? Sure.

4.)*** Could the grenades have belonged to criminal elements who threw the grenades away on the false assumption that they were being followed by police? Sure.

5.)***Could there be another explanation? Very sure.

  21. 7/89 Building 10, Bovornnives Ratchadamnoen, Klang Road, Phranakom, 10200 The location is right by Democracy Monument. Phone number is 02-6297430 The website is in Thai.

And, the above address is correct, I was there the other weekend meeting with a bunch of lawyers I've known for awhile discussing my case coming up. It is a little kids school and Lawyers Council HQ together. So be thinking to find a school near the democracy Cricle opposite side of the Tesco, look at the gate, and then you will see the Thai Laywers logo on it. This will be the place.

Have you tried the Thai National Human Rights Commision yet? Thai NHRC

Gooday johnnort, Don't mind some peoples postings so much and let them get to you. It is apparent it is a hard frustrating time for you.

Once again, I would like to talk to you personally off the forum about your ordeal. I have stated that I will have something coming up in the related field and wish to have your knowledge and thoughts. Yes, it is quite dangerous to post finger pointing material on the internet in Thailand, so best you do not until all is finished within the Thai system. It is not the Thai Visa censure, it is getting caught and having your IP address uncovered byt authorities.

How should we connect to talk, just tell me and I will do so.
