there seems to be a lot of comments on the MSI Wind , may be they can offer some advice :D

  5. Actually the MSI Wind is sweet too, but at 20,000+ delivered with Linux it's a bit in the expensive end...

Yes I was hoping to find the Wind U100 on sale some where a bit cheaper and with WXP already installed, I saw an advertisment bill board out side an S.E.D Thai book store saying you could pre order the Wind U 100 from them , and have it come with WXP preinstalled for an extra 1,070 Baht . you had to leave a 5, 000 Baht deposit and they would get for you within 3 days, but ordering it from a book store did not some how feel right :o

  6. Here you go, I think its only been shown today :o

    http://www.shop4thai.com/en/product/23172/

That's the site I order the majority of my computer stuff. Funny thing, I have been checking it nearly daily for the Wind and it wasn't there. Thanks for the heads up. Tohome.com is where I usually find those items but appears they are not carrying MSI brand.

//edit - just noticed that tohome.com has added a new category Netbooks but no MSI there.

I only found out about www.shop4thai.com stocking the Wind by emailing them to day, heres another Thai web site selling the Wind,

but out of stock on some things for now ..

  7. Ive been thinking of buying a note book , and have read several good reviews of the MSI Wind U100 ,

Ive not yet managed to see on in a shop for sale, but found them for sale at an on line store in Bangkok,

I have my eye on that same model after reading several reviews and comparisons. I only found one on-line store and it only had the 3 cell battery versions, all the 6 cell models were sold out. :D Do you have a link to the on line store you found them at?

Here you go, I think its only been shown today :D

please let me know if you get one :o

  10. I want to buy a talking dictionary ( English / Thai ) for an 11 year old , not having used one in the past I wondered if any forum members had any comments or experience with one, Ive had a look around my local IT Mall and there's several places selling a range , from 1,000 Baht up, some seem to have a memory card sort of option. But knowing just which one / type / options / to buy is difficult , and I could do with some help, Ive talked to the shops selling them , but trying to get some sort of coherent answers is an up hill task. :o

  11. I think that the current financial crisis around the world contains a lesson for us all. How many times do you hear the more financially secure members of this type of forum lecture others on the importance of financial security before moving to Thailand. The truth is their is no real financial security and waiting for a magic day when you feel financially secure is just delaying your dreams until a day that might never come. I earn a modest wage in Thailand, but I am living the life I want to live today. What do others think?

are you for real? dont make excuses for your bad choices in life, running away to live in the 3rd world (that is on the verge of political and social collapse) isn't a solution either, it is what people do when they have no coping skills and do not want to accept their own limitations

take reponsibility for your life, do you earn a modest wage becasue you choose to or becasue you have no other choice based on your own decisions?

if you would spend 15 minutes a day educating yourself rather than posting philopshy on Thaivisa, you would be in better shape financially

let me know when your midlife crisis ends

    Am I for real?

You know nothing about me and yet here you are discussing my bad life choices? I am very happy with life, and I had many happy days before I came to Thailand.

If you are going to tell people to educate themselves then perhaps it would be worth investing 15 minutes of your time per day in learning basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Thanks for your input though.

garro -- I'm glad you said it first, you beat me too it, by the way great post and spot on :o

  12. Hi Jonny , I purchased the plugs from a Home Pro Store in Pattaya , but as I think there are many Home Pro stores about may be try and find the nearest one to you, and take a photo copy of my photos with you . sorry I can't be of more help , but as least you know there are some decent 3 pin plugs for sale in Thailand :o

  13. Hi when I built my house I had the same problem in finding 3 pin plugs that were any good , I finally found some at Home Pro

they have a small red neon on the back of the plug to tell you the power is on , so far they have worked ok.

  15. Hi kingq , when I was hunting for a small AVR unit , I went into a large electrical shop, and asked about a small AVR unit to connect to my computer, my translation

was not too good, and the shop guy came back with a '' large '' in line AVR unit like you are describing , so I did not take too much notice of it, so yes they do seem to sell the large AVR units here , sorry I can't be more helpful ..
