  1. Thanks , for the info, Ive tried to set up a paypal account , but as my UK HSBC bank account

address is here in Thailand , paypal won't accept it and as I said I don't have a credit card

( again a possible problem with HSBC UK and my account address being here in Thailand )

so it looks as if the only to pay this USA company would be an International Money order ..?

so its back to trying to arrange this option ...

    Thanks

  5. well ive just tried the Acronis UK web site, and got this answer....

If you're order is over £100 or you are a business customer, yes, we can accept payment by cleared check or electronic transfer. Please call 0845 226 3633 to arrange payment.

For smaller orders, we're sorry, but our prices don't include sufficient margin to cover the extra work.

So off I go again ........

Could approve first before sending any thing out, this is there reply ….

here , and looking at all the LCD TV's now on sale,

I think I will go for a New LCD TV. Not knowing too much about the technical

side of the LCD TV's could some please advise me as to what to look for regarding the specification ..Eg Contrast, Resolution Etc..?

to day ive seen a Samsung 32 inch wide screen LCD TV ( model LA 32S71B ) , at 29,000 Baht and on the sales sheet it said .... Resolution in pixels ... 1366x768 and Contrast 3000:1

  9. Ive just installed a CD / DVD/ MP3 player in my vehicle , Ive been

given 10 C D’s that have got music on them taken from a friends

music collection which were recorded in mp3 format from his

computer. When I play them in the new player I get a

An ERROR 1 . warning - according to the player manual

Error 1. is due to scratched or dirty CD's , but I get the same

error when I try to play all 10 disks, and they all look clean.

So I think it may be a problem that the new player is not

recognizing the disk record format ..? , when I play the CD's

on my computer the tracks are shown only as mp3.

Is there any way of seeing a bit more information

about the format of the CD's , by using my computer

and may be recording the tracks in another format

that may play in my new player, to see the current

CD format I play them in Windows Media Player 10

I cannot get in touch with my friend who gave me

the CD's to ask him about the recording format

any one have an idea how I can get the 10 CD's to

play in my new CD player ....?

    Thanks ... Mumbo

  10. Have I got this right…? If you have a Non O multi entry visa , if you leave Thailand

You don’t need a re entry permit stamp..?

But if you have a Non O multi entry visa and have a one year extension

Based on marriage to a Thai National, you do need a re entry permit stamp?

Or have I got this the wrong way around…?

    Thanks Mumbo

  11. Ive got some friends coming to Thailand for the first time in a few weeks,

(On honeymoon) they would like to visit some of the islands

And they have asked me which of the islands are not too

Touristy, (not too over crowded or commercial) not ever going to the islands my self, could

Any one comes up with any personal recommendations of some Islands that

    May fit the bill …?

    Thanks Mumbo

  12. Thanks sonicdragon I think you are right and the bank clerk just did not know

About the rules Etc, my wife did say to the clerk can I send money to my friend

In the UK, No Etc was the clerk’s answer and I think she would get the same reply

If she went back to her bank, which I think just puts people off some times with

Any answer they can think of, so I am now looking at other ways to send the money

To the UK as discussed in the rest of this subject. I will post how I get on, just one point

I forgot was the bank clerk did suggest to my wife she may want to try the Post Office

Who have a Western Union facility, but just the thought of handing over all that money

To my local post office makes me shudder! And surely if the Bank want proof

Then the Thai Post Office will as well …

  13. Ive got some friends coming to Thailand soon and they have

    Asked me ….

Are we allowed to bring 2 liters of alcohol per person into the country? ( Wine )

    And ……

Cigarettes, Do you know how many per person we're allowed to take into the country??

Ive got no idea…. So can any one tell me please…?

    Thanks …. Mumbo

  14. Well to day the wife went to her bank ( Thai Farmers bank ) and asked to Transfer money

From her account to my UK bank, this was just a test to see what the bank would say

If they said OK then I would deposit the 600,000 Baht in my wife’s account

And then she would transfer it to the UK.

Well the bank clerk told my wife that the bank could not arrange any transfer of money

From her account to any foreign bank with out her supplying evidence of what the money to

Be transferred was for, and that there are restrictions as to where the money would be allowed

To be transferred to , such as paying for education fees abroad, would be allowed but any

Transfer without a documented reason that does not meet the banks criteria would be

Rejected, it seem’s that if you want just to send money abroad to a relative Etc , according

To the bank clerk, it would be rejected; the clerk also said that the regulations applied to

Any amount of money you tried to transfer..?

Although I was not there when my wife asked the questions ( I thought it best to keep

A low profile and stay away) I have a feeling that the bank clerk was in some way

Just making it difficult and may have not known the real bank procedure.

Well its back to the drawing board and try another approach, I will post

    How things progress.
