so stop whinging ....
Being under house arrest for extended periods of time will awaken one's immune system. These low IQ policies are going to jeopardize more lives than they save by a large margin. Had we done nothing heard immunity would already be a thing.
Stop your whining and let others get on with their lives. The policies you are standing behind are going to create the results you look to avoid.

Much of it will depend on the governments and media continued reaction
If they continue to insist that a death rate of under 2% officially and certainly much below that in reality is worthy of harassing people, tourists will stay away.
If however the media finds something new to focus on and policy is crafted which accurately reflects the risk then the damage may not be as pronounced or draw out.
I have little faith at this point in the hystaria dying down so I expect this to last year's. After all, many (even on this forum) accuse me of wanting people to die because I don't think people should be locked in their homes for any reason let alone a virus with such a low death rate

Nightmare. Complete Chaos.
What is required is to have uniform rules in place or dont open airports at all.
Having various governors imposing their own take on things is nonsensical.
One size fits all policies typically fit none.

Bangkok post and Thaiger are both reporting that the alcohol ban is being lifted starting Sunday. both sources state all purchases must be consumed at home (no bars or drinking at restaurants)
Glad to see some sanity, reason, and objectivity for once.

Yet the baht is holding it's own??????
Because other countries are trying to print their way back to prosperity. That is one thing it seems Thailand got right, not deflating their currency (yet).

Headline should be "government shut down causes about one trillion baht in damage to Thai economy"

So the OP wants to cage people because they would like to make their own life decisions. Before all this started i wondered how governments were able to kill 262 million people (not including wars) and enslave people. After seeing how the sheople around the world have gravitated to these authoritarian solutions makes me question humanity. The whole post is about how "others dont care" meanwhile you fail to give a rats back side about other peoples freedoms. How this irony is lost on you is beyond my comprehension.
When the currencies fail to have value and people are starving the OP will be blaming the corporations, t he rich, and everyone but the true culprits (government and the sheople who back their power).
p.s. some good news, the Missus just caught word on a Thai site she trusts that they may be lifting the alcohol ban for 7/11s and other stores starting Sunday. She said we will be hearing an announcement tomorrow.

The rich are certainly not going to help anyone but themselves.
The didnt get rich helping others, but got rich by exploiting others.
Just another example of me me me.
People get rich in one of two ways. By providing products or services people value more than the money they exchange for them. In this way most rich people have contributed more to society than they ever could giving their wealth away.
The other way is through special favors (corruption) of the government. This is a drain on society but only possible because of government

There are no small producers in Thailand. To get a beer production license you need to produce 100 million litres per year and have 10 million baht paid up capital in the company.
Big and small are relative terms. No Thai beer company is even close to Singha which can offset the costs (to a certain extent) with water sales and their other business offshoots. .

This biggest olayers benefit in the long run. Their smaller compitetion can't fiance a prolonged shut down and will go out of business.
Same reason that big business everywhere always fights for MORE regulation.

Normal or not Thailand comes out out of this a clear winner.
No bailout of the poor, no currency devaluation.
CAD to THB 18
AUD to THB 14
USD to THB 40
very soon
Ummm....
If USD to THB hits 40 that would mean there is currency devaluation

Actually it is illegal to drink alcohol when driving. Some sexual activities are illegal. Lots of types of knifes are illegal in many countries and kids are not allowed near swimming pools without adults. All those laws do exist.

I worked in both Thai and international schools and saw teachers surfing the web during class time.
But that doesn't mean all teachers do. Why so sensitive???

Sensible, who in their right mind would want to go back to the US?
I am both and will remain here until the situation gets better.
Medical care is better and cheaper here and even with the curfew there is more freedom. Not to mention the shutdown over there now has food supplies running short.

The problem is that many people are stupid. If nobody tells them what to do they do whatever they want - without any thinking.
If all people would be smart and rational then we wouldn't need speed controls, laws which don't allow driving under influence and laws against many more stupid activities. Fact is those laws are necessary to stop at least many if stupid idiots.
By this logic alcohol should be illegal because stupid people.may abuse it. Sex should be illegal because stupid people could spread diseases and have stupid kids. Knives should be illegal because stupid people will cut off their fingers and swimming pools should be illegal because some may drown. I could go on for says but I think you get the point.
You can't take away freedoms of the masses because some are stupid or irresponsible.

It amazes me they would consider keeping areas closed that have no known cases. What possibly could be the point in that.

Over 50,000 people and not a single one had a temperature? That IS shocking, even under normal circumstances.
Im usually not one to rush to the defense of the overlords, but are they sure their machines are working?

Resume normal flights. No extra precaution necessary in my opinion. See any of my other posts which reflect my thoughts on this who situation.
If the government MUST get involved, allow each local government to place the appropriate restrictions as they see fit. I will not supply "detail(ed) guidelines" as i am smart enough to know that i dont know what is best for others. Each area of the country has difference considerations and only an authoritarian falsely believes they know what is best in areas of the country (world) they have never been. .
