  1. The plan is to raise the threshold over the next year or to, the first  stage has come into effect on 11 th April

The plan is to raise it to 34000 GB supposedly some time in 2024

and at some point 38700 GBP in 2025

The last 2 figures can be adjusted or disregarded depending which party is in power and what they want to do

Bashing foreigners in any country is always a vote winner unfortunately

  2. You would need to speak to a lawyer, as to what is required, they might want to see the original marriage certificate and official translation, not sure they would accept copies, but will make life easy for your wife if all is done correctly now, hopefully someone who has done it will come up with the answer

Also if you pass away in Thailand they are going to want death certificate/translation, if it goes to probate you need someone/ firm to do it, guess all depends on how much your assets are worth against the cost, of a UK lawyer dealing with it

Sorry, but a translation is needed for what exactly?

A translation of the Thai marriage certificate in to english, minimal cost in Thailand, if you have UK assets then i would get a UK will, you will need executer to carry out your wishes

  4. As long as there is a postcode on the address DHL will send it, i sent stuff to the RAF pension service, delivered within 36 hours there were no named people on the package just an address, it was signed for by someone, last year my passport was renewed UKVI use DHL again delivered within 36 hours and was signed for.

  5. I transferred my stamp to a new passport last August at CW, and was given a hard time by the female IO, you need to fill in the form (visa transfer) number 22 from here. https://www.immigration.go.th/?page_id=3202

copies of both passports i had all my pages copied  in the old passport that was enough to get a ticket to queue for the transfer,

When it was my turn the IO wanted in addition to the above last 90 day report, bank letter with statement dated that day copy of bank book, the TM30 showing my address, which i did not have so had to go downstairs to get it printed off. none of this should have been needed, expect the unexpected, hopefully yours will go smoother

To be safe i would take all of the above, but only show the completed form and passport copies to start, then if you get the wrong IO you will have the other docs

PS  i was going to do my 90 day report as well, but after 5 hours, was not going to wait any longer, i did wonder if you now have a new passport so new number would they want to see a new TM30 with the new passport number

  6. Dementia is very distressing and unpleasant for the carers, my mother felt unwell after a large amount of antibiotics, she had been a nurse so she knew something was wrong, the doctors just told her nothing wrong just age, after 3 or 4 months she started having tests, it could not be a stroke/Alzheimer's/dementia, all to quick, then after 6 months they said yes it is dementia, we all said cant be, they said yes  'rapid onset vascular  dementia' she passed away within 2 years

  7. If buying in Thailand beware wise  do not provide the FET form

    https://wise.com/help/articles/2932335/guide-to-thb-transfers

What’s a Foreign Exchange Transaction (FET) form?

A FET form is a document that confirms money sent into Thailand came from abroad. When a bank receives a transfer of 50,000 USD or more, they have to send a FET form to the Bank of Thailand to report the money.

You’ll need a FET form if you’re a foreigner buying property in Thailand, or if you’re applying for a Thai visa.

Why can’t Wise give me a FET form?

We aren't authorised by the Bank of Thailand to issue FET forms. It’s because of how we work: when you send money with us, we use our Thai banking partners to send out your money locally. It doesn’t cross any borders, so it doesn’t show up as a foreign transaction.

  8. I have an 0-X visa, the visa is a 10 year visa but you get it as 2x 5 years, my wife is not on my visa, but looking at the website at the London embassy it states,  so she would need to qualify in her own right

Spouses of holders of O-X Visa will be considered for temporary stay under Category ‘O’ Visa if they do not qualify to apply for the O-X Visa themselves. A duly notarised marriage certificate must be provided as evidence.

As for the money you need  3million baht in a Thai bank account as well as other conditions, i see the Sydney consulate does not say that, no idea where they are getting those figures from, i just looked at the link on their website and that takes you to the 0-A requirementswhere the money is in your home countries bank.  not the 0-X

You will need insurance from here   https://longstay.tgia.org/companiesox

You need to report to immigration every year to have you bank book/insurance checked (though when i tried to do my first year report they said no need just come back when you passport expires which i did, they were not happy when i took my new passport why have you not been coming for the yearly checks? they sent me home with a note to come later this year after going through my documents line by line

My advice try the LTR ,   Be aware the money in  Thai bank will  get you 1% if you are lucky, and the health insurance is not value for money after a small outpatients claim my renewal  amounts was just  over

80 000 baht, the non 0 retirement has no health insurance

This is definitely not the case at Bangkok Immigration. I have done online after returning from abroad.

It might be the official means if you are entering on a new visa. But if entering on a visa extension, and very probably entering on a multiple entry visa, then it'll get accepted by the system. The system on this issue is linked at Bangkok Immigration.

No i was at Chang Wattana on Monday after 2 failed attempts  to do the online report, both times came back saying entry date was wrong, i entered Thailand on the same passport and visa, at CW i was told the system does not pick up the new entry date (well it did not for me, i was told that if i left the country again then the first report after returning would have to be done in person, if it works for you good, but as we all know nothing is guaranteed

Submitted online yesterday. Rejected today with the reason, "Incorrect entry date upon entry into the kingdom/ Incorrect visa expiration date."  But these were not incorrect. I've run out of time to try again as the deadline is tomorrow, so I'll go to Samut Prakan and do in person, and try to find out the real reason for rejection.

Have you been out of the country since your last report?

I had the same rejection 2 weeks ago but from Chang Wattana, the reason i had left the country and returned in November, the system does not pick up your return date, had to do in person, said next time can do online, but if you go abroad then you will have to do the report in person

    2. Incorrect visa expiration date, ok so I done a visa Extension Feb this year, so my visa finishes March 2024. I've put both March this year and next year as the final date. Both rejected!

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers

Today 7/2/2024 travelled to Chaeng Wattana to file 90 day report (online attempt rejected)
Was asked for my TM 47 and was  told that I needed to refile TM 47 in the new system as mine was done in old system.  I own my condo ie.  I am both owner and "occupier.  Furthermore was told I needed to update TM 47 every year.
Is this a new requirement for filing 90 day reports?

I assume you mean TM30, late last year they did change the system and everyone was supposed to register TM30 on the new system, there was no automatic roll over,

    Found this courtesy of soi3eddie

I just received the email below for those here who do our own online TM30 reports. I guess we should all receive this notice, however in case not, the details follow. Stupidly it requires new registration but is seems easier than previously - for new registration go to: https://tm30.immigration.go.th/TM30/Foreigner/TM30Th/index.html Would be nice if they have updated the submission pages so that they will work with all web browsers - time will tell.

This possibility would kill my chances of updating my passport information. I use an agent and do not maintain a bank balance. "The best laid plans etc"

  14. I renewed my driving license in Bangkok ( Bang Chak DLT 3)  Aug last year so this might be a bit out of date, i tried booking via the smart queue it showed a 4 month wait, so went to Bang Chak ( note you could not walk in everything was by appointment, i went there and got an appointment 8 weeks later, they told me i did not need to do the online test but bring certificate of residence and medical certificate, the said both were only valid 30 days they also check your visa/ extension of stay

At Chang Wattana you must bring your tm47 (your last 90 day report) and copy your passport bio and Visa, the cost is 200 baht and they post it to you takes about 10 days, there is no express service.

I have read that Chatachuk DLT does walk ins

  15. Companies especially Thai companies do not worry much about their reputations as a company in the west would, as reporting anything negative about them even if true, is covered under the broad libel/slander rules making it virtually impossible for anyone to write negative things even the publications reporting it can find themselves in trouble, however with social media coverage it is getting harder to cover up

  16. I do not believe the TM6 has been brought back at airports, but yesterday in the newspaper it said that you must have your boarding pass available at the immigration kiosk so it can be checked against your passport
