  1. Even with a no medical check needed  he will need to declare his lung condition and the fact that he had a medical check, failure to declare this will invalidate his insurance and beware the fact he had a full medical check up, he may well find that a Thai insurer will refuse to pay up anyway as they can say you must have had an pre existing issue because you went for a checkup,  In simple i would stay away from any Thai insurer there is no appeal against an insurer or ombudsmen to complain to, get insurance from your home country that has adequate complaints procedure

Did you get approved eventually without having to show up?

It was not approved it still showed pending on 4 Sep so cancelled it, and went in person on 5 Sep, Took all of 3 minutes to do, shame about the 2 1/2 hour round trip, lets hope for a better performance in Dec (i never bothered asking them why as i would have just been told the first thing that came into their head)

Good info.  Thanks.  Just out of curiosity, does anyone tuned in here know the exact amount of time abroad before you're vulnerable?

There is no minimum/ maximum time abroad(once you move abroad and are no longer resident you lose your right to free NHS treatment getting it back is quite simple see below

    https://www.gov.uk/guidance/using-the-nhs-when-you-return-to-live-in-the-uk#:~:text=Complete a GMS1 form to,are eligible for free healthcare.

for what it is worth if you are still registered with your gp you would be covered unless you tell them you live abroad, i hear some people use a relatives house to still show an address in UK(they get themselves on the council tax bill, but as you know the GP where you are registered must be in the area where your 'new address' is

I called bumrungrhad any they recommend Asst. Prof. Dr. Prayuth Tunsuriyawong said he is the most senior for nasal polyps/sinus issues anyone heard of him ?

    Do not take the hospitals recommendation, do your own research, tried looking at his bio https://www.bumrungrad.com/en/search-for-a-thailand-doctor   but it will not load, look at all the relevant bios, i would not touch any doctor that has not done time in the west trained and or resident, their bios show this( i have found even at this hospital some doctors will just dismiss you as they know best, unlike in the west you can question the doctor). hopefully Sheryl will be able to track one down;

I would also look at other hospitals by checking the doctors bio. your money you chose the doctor

Can the 3m thb be in 3 accounts either at 3 different banks or even the same bank to avoid being over the protection limit?

The guidance on the London website does not mention this, simply must be held in a Thai bank i take that as in one bank account, the Vancouver embassy states

A copy of bank statement (from Thailand financial institutes only) and a letter of guarantee from the bank with bank’s contact information showing a deposit of the amount equal to and not less than 3 Million bahts,

Which i read as it must be all in one account

further the London embassy website states

    1. Applicants must have Thai medical insurance during their stay in Thailand (per the approval of the Office of Insurance Commission) and medical claims for outpatient must not be less than 40,000 Baht, for inpatient must not be less than 400,000 Baht.    But then states 3 million baht coverage is required
    2.
    3. Copy of evidence stating that applicants have insurance as per stipulated by the Office of Insurance Commission and health insurance of Thailand which covers COVID-19 related medical expenses, both inpatient and outpatient, no less than 100,000 USD for the whole period of your stay in Thailand. Please check http://longstay.tgia.org> for more information regarding the insurance requirement.

Any guesses why the review process seems to be taking longer at CW?

Increased volume, additional investigative scrutiny ordered from on high, staff shortages?

Figures. It was working so reliably. Now it's back to potentially being a crap-shoot.

They were closed for the best part of a week then they came back for a few days then another holiday and the next day the system went down, mine still shows pending i applied on 15 Aug

Wonder if the Esso member card will still be accepted by Bangchat because currently Bangchat will not issue one to non-Thais. If not then I will not use the new Bangchat.

Last time i filled up they said use all your points up before September, might try shell if they won't let me have a member card
