  1. I researched this before, but was mainly looking for dim sum in Bangkok. You would think of all the Chinese ancestry there would be more widespread Chinese cuisine in Thailand.

I gave up after finding such a few amount of choices outside of Chinatown. If you open a restaurant Soju, I'll go eat there. Fortune cookies would be a nice touch smile.png

I'll even import some American Sriracha sauce :)

  2. All you guys have the wrong impression of hi-so girls. I have met many "hi-so" girls that are not snobby and materialistic. They might seem like it to you because you are just judging their outer appearance and stereotyping.

Another reason might be is that most regular thai's and "hi-so" girls think of caucasian westerners as dirty poor backpackers or sex tourists that hook up with country girls and the ones that spread diseases.

Which is fairly true you have to admit.

  3. I met a very wealthy and beautiful upper class Thai-Chinese woman while studying to be a nuclear scientist at Harvard and she convinced me to come to Thailand with her on her parents private plane and I reluctantly accepted. Since then I have taken over the reigns of her parent's chemical and material conglomerate which has lead to record profits but despite my massive wealth, you are more likely to see me donating my time down at the local Orphanage than at the seemingly weekly Royal galas that we are invited too.

    Best story yet

  4. Hey guys,

woke up to see in my thaivisa email that my thread was a featured topic and received all these responses.

Ok so I was in Malaysia for only a week and I guess I got lucky with my taxi drivers. I will edit that in the first post.

I was also talking about Bangkok Taxi drivers mostly. I have been here for 2 years and it seems half of them are very legit and happy with just the meter and half of them feel like they deserve more. The ones that try to get more always say they dont have change for a 100 baht. So the other day, I actually went to my security guard and changed a 100 for the 40 bath meter. When I handed it to him he snatched it from my hand with attitude and started mumbling. I had many other stories similar to this.

So instead of getting angry at the situation, I was very curious as to why the taxi drivers here are so 2 sided. More than other countries it seems. It's either they are all good or all bad. In my experiences in Bangkok, it's half and half.

To response to another post. I would also like to know how you can tell if someone owns their own taxis. Maybe that is why half of them are good and half of them are bad.
