The Rise and Fall of Alex Jones: From Conspiracies to Courtrooms
animalmagic replied to Social Media's topic in World News
None of the crimes for all three can be described as 'alleged' as all were found guilty of the crimes they were charged with. AJ's rebuttal of similar crimes is irrelevant, as is the fact that some crimes can be viewed as more heinous than others. My original comment was to highlight that 'performers' perform and we do not know their real character until we see the evidence of crimes committed by them at a later stage. The different crimes that Rolf and Jimmy were found guilty of were entirely different to those of AJ. If I wanted to find a comparable instance of crimes committed by telling lies to all and sundry for personal gain, I should have used President 45!! -

Nor suggesting anything of the sort, I would hate to make slanderous and vicious accusations! That can be very expensive. The comment I replied to stated that they used to enjoy watching AJ. My reply was simply to highlight the fact that an individual's enjoyment of a performance does not make the performer a good person. As is evidenced by the fact that AJ, Rolf and Jimmy have all been found guilty of crimes. -

Start with a serious question then -
So, by your logic this is not a crime or even a cause for concern, because it was investigated and disclosed by an opposing political organization? Because a right wing Supreme Court Judge has received presents that effectively double his salary from other right wing groups this is not a cause for concern for everybody. Impressive defence of the indefensible !

1. Because they knew that her or her family did have that kind of money; generally from inside information. It is not unlikely that a Chinese businessperson has, or has access to, that kind of money. There are many very rich people in China who also travel extensively. 2. With a lifetime of experience dealing with Chinese Govt officials she will perhaps have a sense of foreboding when dealing with other persons claiming to be govt officials in the country they visit. 3. This way they cannot be charged with kidnapping as the individual moved around 'voluntarily' and was never restrained (although under bad advice) and could not be contacted by the family. Leading them to believe that she had, in fact, been kidnapped. 4. See answer 2. above. Many Asians live in fear of govt officials and do not question them as that can end badly. Without full knowledge of what she was actually told by the fake govt officials, and the reasons they gave, it is difficult to understand why she did this. P.S. Various areas of the world, and indeed China, have different criminal M.O.s. Some have a reputation for jewellery theft from various shows and retail outlets, whilst others specialise in begging scams. There are pickpocketing gangs from some countries and, for the last 20 years Chinese fraud gangs have operated in Hong Kong and other parts of Asia to trick old or gullible Chinese citizens into falling for the scam and sending money. Most of these tricks are based on a fear of their own Chinese authorities and no experience of the actions of other countries' govt officials, who they initially suspect as being as bad as their own.

Trump's Distortion of Deadly Force Fact Check

Funny how he neglects to mention that the Search Warrant executed on Joe Biden carried the exact same provisions on Deadly Use of Force. Biden is definitely mentally unfit for office if he is plotting to assassinate himself!- 11 replies

Why you shouldnt carry cash in Thailand
animalmagic replied to CharlieH's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Very difficult to give a definitive answer as we do not always get full disclosure of how much has been confiscated; can lead to lack of confidence in the currency. HK had a problem with very good 1000 HKD bills that were counterfeit, to the extent that ATM's only dispensed 500 HKD bills as the largest value note for quite a while. The average person encounters digital fraud more often than you would think with various frauds being attempted daily; simply ask a local how many times they have received 'dodgy' phone calls from police, their bank or claimed acquaintances.. The planning, execution and laundering of stolen cash, bullion, jewels etc requires some skilled and determined people. The planning and execution of digital fraud does not need anywhere near as much professional input to steal a lot more. Several countries, the usual suspects of Russia, China, Iran and North Korea use the digital attacks to undermine competitor economies and finance other 'activities'. Targeted attacks on corporations may very well be the norm, but their losses are passed on to the consumer. -
Why you shouldnt carry cash in Thailand

The current numbers of ATMs are unsustainable in terms of management and real estate costs. As every ATM seems to allow other local banks and pretty much all foreign cards to access them there is little justification in maintaining the numbers. Most banking systems are considering 'brown label or generic' ATMs as they do not see the need for the marketing of having their name on every corner ATM. Similarly, the banking system is outsourcing much of its cash circulation to Cash Management Companies who run the armoured trucks and circulate the cash for use and collection; in advanced cases only sending back old and damaged notes to the Central Bank. Filling up and servicing ATMs is not a highly skilled financial task, and banks save money by outsourcing. -

Visualizing Global Losses from Financial Scams (visualcapitalist.com) Worldwide losses to digital fraud are almost half a trillion dollars, approximately the GDP of Singapore! Another factor is the fact that the fees for using the digital currency platforms are hidden - interchange assessment e-wallet payment processing These generally come out as a cost of business to the merchant who will then increase prices so the customer pays. The Marsh McLennan Cyber Crime Handbook 2021 states that the Cybercrime landscape, of which Digital Fraud and Online Payment Fraud form part of the overall picture, also covers losses to the economy and corporations through hacking, data breaches and other forms of attack to create chaos and disrupt government and business operations. The World Economic Forum’s 2019 Cybercrime puts economic losses from cybercrime in 2020 at 3 trillion USD and projected this to double to 6 trillion USD in 2021. Of great concern is the fact that in many sectors the speed of digitalisation far outpaces the building of cyber defence capabilities and adaptation of overall risk management strategies. -
