  1. We are often told 'Guns are not the problem, people are the problem'. So why do they let problems buy guns? "A WELL REGULATED militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" Kids cannot vote, buy alcohol, cigarettes, pornography or gamble, but they can buy a gun. Doesn't seem very well regulated to me. Background checks, cooling off periods and restrictions on types of weapons are necessary to regulate keeping and bearing arms. Or they can join the National Guard.
  2. No libel intended, although I have often been called a clown. My response was intended as a sarcastic dig at those who still dispute the outcome of the election using totally discredited arguments.
  3. Depends which machines are being used for the counting!
  4. If you are going to list countries involved in geopolitical interference don't be selective; you only show your bias. Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Israel are all involved in various types of political, economic, religious and social interference. This is carried out through the use of debt traps, heavyweight threats, physical violence, spying, corruption and social media engineering (propaganda).
  5. I respectfully disagree, in my post I was referring to any and all mistakes by police and not referencing this particular case. The mistakes and failures of any police force impact society in a negative way and then influences their opinions on society's actions in future. SCOTUS has already affirmed that the police have no duty to protect the public, this too is part of the problem - Police Have No Duty to Protect You, Federal Court Affirms Yet Again | Mises Institute To look at problems in isolation only solves the direct cause of something but overlooks the indirect cause that creates the environment possible for the problem to occur. When a person breaks their leg because they tripped over a hole in the ground simply repairing the hole is insufficient. You have to examine why inspection and maintenance procedures allowed a hole to get so big that someone broke their leg.
  6. Sad to say but the current frequency of these mass shootings means that you may reach thousands more quite soon.
  7. Whilst I agree with the general gist of your post, there can never be too much emphasis on the mistakes of law enforcement in a modern society. It all adds up as part of the problem.

  11. If they overturn the law on abortion there will be a lot more absent fathers!
  12. If you agree to buy a car from me with a V8 engine for a certain price, but later find that it's a V6 will you still want to pay the original price?
  13. Supreme Court precedent holds that American police have no legal obligation to protect the public. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warren_v._District_of_Columbia
  14. Very valid points, but the snapcaps would be easily identified as being such. I have used and taught with dummy rounds that, apart from weight and absence of a primer, do resemble a normal round to a greater extent than snapcaps. However, both snapcaps and dummy rounds are only used when teaching practical courses to advanced students to simulate a stoppage and the student needs to react and clear quickly and efficiently. The original story says it was a beginner area/course and there would be no justification in using them even if the range had them. She sounds a bit more advanced than a beginner as she obviously knows how to load a magazine, fit it in the weapon and then cock it to facilitate firing. Her story sounds a little dodgy to me. Perhaps a check on how well she knew the instructor would be informative. Instructors and students do get in close proximity when teaching, and afterwards on occasions. Either the range ignored or did not enforce all reasonable safety precautions (this is Thailand) and left live rounds lying on the ground, or the woman found what she thought was a foolproof way to commit murder.
  15. Tigers do not live in herds, or whatever collective noun you wish to apply. Tigers choose to live in solitude and isolation and are very territorial; they only fight and kill others to protect their territory. The captive conditions they are forced to live in are totally contrary to their natural way of life and will cause stress, anxiety and behavioural problems.
  16. Seems a little strange that you seek information and assistance from a public forum but wish to specify who can respond; perhaps you should try Google? Judging from the responses so far a significant number of the members here do not fall within your category of acceptable opinions and have produced sound logical reasons why the activity you seek should be avoided. I'm surprised the moderators have not removed your question as it obviously insults several of the members of this forum.
  17. Taking the Philippines as an example, figures suggest that approximately 70% of the adult population are unbanked and rely entirely on a cash or barter process. The digital processing of funds will make these people a priority and there are already developments in the field of virtual banking looking to include this large population group. Inclusion is always good but there should be serious concerns in respect of the financial knowledge and computer skills needed by this large segment of people to protect themselves against the various digital frauds, scams and tricks happening every day. Currently, financially experienced and computer literate people in western countries are regularly falling prey to the scammers and losing significant amounts of money as evidenced by published statistics. When considering this unbanked population of people in the Philippines they are far more likely to fall victim to online scams and any amount they lose is significant and quite possibly devastating as they do not have the reserves to deal with even a small loss when they currently live a day-to-day cash existence. Digital payment is pushed by the financial sector due to the potential savings in staff and real estate, they have yet to show themselves as effective in the protection of customers using digital payments. With cash you can only lose what is in your wallet, not everything you have.
  18. Is this the Vertical take off and landing aircraft? Thai pilots are already halfway qualified as they have mastered vertical landings in all the other aircraft!
