I basically gave up even trying to find logic in Thailand.
But sometimes I still think: Why?
What do they think is the point of this? Do they want to make sure fewer people visit Thailand? Do they think more people will get infected when more places, with close contact, will open?
Is it just to pi@$ off people? What is the real reason for this?
I think even those people who make the decisions must be aware that nightlife is a major attraction for people who live in Thailand and who visit Thailand.
You make some very good points and I also cannot see the logic. Bankrupt a certain line of business or some powerful business groups and then somebody else takes over? Just theorising!

Ha, was walking along sukhumvit the other evening, the road was not too busy but noticed that a lot more motorcycles were using the sidewalk and had to dodge several of them.
The delivery guys seem to to be doing it the most.
This could be a good money earner.
You may need the money for medical bills!

????, as many businesses will be forced into bankruptcy I wonder if lots of leases and land are starting to become available for 'other businessmen' to snap up and then redevelop?

Safes are given ratings dependent on resistance to a torch or tool attack to open them. These ratings are guaranteed by an accredited and internationally recognised agency. Most reputable safes will have details given with them to show how long they will provide protection against burglars or fire, if they don't have this certification don't buy them. It all depends on how much time you can afford to pay for.

No they covered that with "eateries"
Yes but in other formally very touristic places they jump on every offence they can find
that's not to say that the drinking and dancing and partying doesn't go on but it's now rather risky like the "prohibition" times in America ..I wonder if there will be a Thai NASCAR (ish) or something else phenomenon emerge from this era.
Thai NASCAR (ish) already exists on most roads!

Quite a ludicrous and shallow suggestion.
Arrange a Lalisa concert because her popularity with the masses is very high; hoping that the masses then become happier with the people who arranged it for them. Also thinking that pictures taken of her and the arrangers will make people think she supports them.
At the same time arrange a Bocelli concert, because that's what the upper echelons would like to see.
I would also be interested to see the attendance figures for other New Year concerts and if it includes hordes of people who actually travel from other countries to attend. How many of those would be deterred by travel and socialising restrictions that may be in place?

Well, serious brake fade could have happened if they kept their foot on the brakes for a very long period instead of using the engine and gears to reduce the need for excessive brake pressure..
Brain fade is another possible cause.

And where are the trees and grass on that section of the road, did he chop them all down?
He'd just finished. Couldn't anyone smell the cut grass............or some other agricultural aroma?

I bought dogs over in 2010 and not required now. Thanks, but thread's too old.
I need input from someone who traveled with their pet in the last few months.
You might find it difficult to get an answer based on those criteria. People have had enough trouble trying to travel alone in the last couple of years; I'd be surprised if many had brought in a pet to quarantine with them.
But I wish you the best of luck.

A little to early to be drinking Animal , isn't it
They would be able to return by not being "Non Chinese"
Never too early and never too late!
Any person, either non Chinese or Chinese, is still subject to 21 days quarantine on entry/return to China from here or anywhere else. Non Chinese cannot even enter China unless they are of specific and very small groups. China doesn't even allow entry to HK residents; and we are all told that is an inalienable part of China never to secede.
I was referring to the opening of Thailand to visitors from China, who would currently be unable to go home.
Pass me a beer!????

To the best of my knowledge China is still closed to entry by non-Chinese and mandates a 21 day quarantine for all upon entry. How will Chinese tourists return home?
China is unlikely to open up until after the Beijing Winter Olympics have finished in late February; there is too much face to be lost in having to cancel/postpone.

That system is wrong as no reward should be offered for normal police work. Then again when the police salaries are woefully inadequate police will devise other ways of generating genuine income.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying every baht he 'earned' was from a legitimate source. Far from it.
It's actually a very effective money laundering scheme.
- Acquire ill gotten gains from drug trafficking or corruption.
- Send money to Malaysia to buy/steal high end cars.
- Pay a mule to bring them back.
- Know where the car will be and make the arrest.
- Mule gets minor fine for cooperating with police and released to do again.
- Car seized and commission earned - CLEAN money.
- Use clean money to buy car at govt auction.
- Sell for big profit - more CLEAN money.
- Repeat.

My wife informed me that she had helped the security guard where we live get registered for a vaccination, which happened a week or so ago. Interestingly the registration, as viewed on the app on his phone, says he has been injected with 'coronavac'. He is pretty sure he was told by the nurse it was Sinovac at the the time.
I may be cynical but it looks like they are telling people the injection is 'coronavac', which is a generic term that covers every type of vaccine, to get around the reluctance to accept Sinovac.
Or could I be mistaken.............

CCTV footage showed that the ice delivery truck was travelling at speed on the wet road and had swerved to avoid colliding with a white pickup truck that had just made a U-turn.
The CCTV footage showed that at slower speeds the ice delivery truck would have had ample time to avoid any collision with the white pickup that had just completed the U-turn.
Fully agree, but it also seemed from the video I saw on the news this morning that the driver did not attempt to slow down in the slightest but simply moved the steering wheel sharply to change lanes. With an unstable load like ice, which will not be 'tied down', that will cause the weight to shift rapidly from one side to another and the rear wheels to lose grip before the pickup spins off as happened.
Moronic driving of the highest order.

Best Supermarket at the junction of 2nd Rd and Klang has a good range of cigars. Had a nice Filipino cigar bought by the girlfriend for my birthday. A smooth, slow burning and satisfying one hour smoke.
Was that the cigar or the girlfriend?

Many reports on here of foreigners getting vaccinated in Pattaya last 2/3 weeks often following registration on expatvac so I think your statement as a generalisation is very inaccurate.
Unfortunately you haven't been contacted along with some others.
However I also know several people below the age of 60 who went along to BPH and registered directly last week and have now received jabs. Perhaps you can blame them for stealing yours.........
Generalisations are usually inaccurate, but I used it for comedic effect. Still not impressed with the system.
I have managed to get into a system thru a friend of a friend, and I don't blame any person who has managed to get vaccinated despite the shockingly bad system of vaccination roll outs.

As anyone who lives in the Chon Buri District, received their appointment dates to get vaccinated and have registered on the Government Websites, Expatvac.com or ThailandIntervac.com for the UNDER 60 year old group (with no underlying health issues) ?
I have registered in August but still waiting for an appointment.
I registered on first day with expatvac but received the 'wrong visa notice'. Reapplied using the shortened version of my given name and got accepted. Had no further info or contact from them since. I'm over 60.
Frankly there seems to be more chance of Oscar Pistorius catching athlete's foot than this system providing jabs.
