I am curious as I cannot remember anything much about my school years as a youngster at a catholic school with priests.

I want to know if I was buggered by wayward clergy.

I would really like to try it, but guess I might need to travel west.

When you were at school I think you would remember being buggered, I am sure I would.

Of course fathers can go out at night for a drink. Dedicated fathers would probably come home earlier than 4 am though, maybe to read the kids a story, help mother get them ready for bed etc.

And if the restaurant is not an airconditioned one then yes smoking is a given right, smoking is not against the law and not against the restaurant policy then they are giving you the right to smoke there. In regards to your kids, I would worry more about health issues from the tons of exhaust fumes from old trucks and buses and the safety of the none existant sidewalks or M/C taxis zooming along the sidewalk the wrong way rather than the odd inconsiderate smoker.

Not much you can do about a bus' exhaust...but a considerate smoker would not smoke at a table where his smoke effects everyone around him. The bus cannot stop its stench, the smoker can, but the smokers do not care and that's the difference.

My friends Son Went back to Thailand to do his military service, after living in England from the age of 6. he was killed two days after arriving in Thailand , by a Motor bike. How do you think his mother feels now, also her husband died six weeks later of cancer, she is back in Thailand now putting the ashes of her Husband together with her Son.

So your friend's son's death, while hugely regrettable, had nothing whatever to do with military service? He was killed in a motorbike accident.

He returned for Military service...so it has plenty to do with it.

It was completely coincidental - nothing to do with the military. He wasn't in the military at the time it happened.

He returned for military service, if he had not been conscripted or bailed out of it, high chance he would still be alive today.

my idea is to start building some small pieces of modern style western furniture out of real wood during my holidays there and giving it to my ladyfriend to sell, the first pieces will be a gift to her which she can attempt to sell and see if there is a viable market in her area so no issues about visa, licences etc at first, after perusing the visa laws, forbidden jobs and causing ourselves no end of headaches i decided to ask here after reading about people suggesting ways around certain aspects of the strict laws governing foreigners living and working in thailand.

Yes i do trust her, if i manage to start this business, she couldnt do it without me anyway (in the beginning) she is a very good cook and thai language teacher and also an accountant but she cant tell the back from the front of a router or circular saw.

I know plenty of people that do things work wise and have so for years.

Unless you piss someone off, you will have no issues and keep it quiet, anyone asks each and everytime you are building it for yourself, for your home etc.

Do it the way you want to start, slow and easy and quiet and you will be fine and it is a good way to quietly enter the field and also suss out the girl over an extended period of time.

If you are willing to take your children into an eating area, where smoking is permitted, then I can understand why it is not a problem to be out to 4 am in the morning as a dedicated father.

We never take our kids into a known smoking and eating area, that usually happens after as most people expect some manners while others are eating, except the smokers of course but thats a given right ? You perhaps cannot read where I state smokers going outside and standing at the edge or door of such areas and their smoke still wafts in...but they are being kind and considerate right, if not slightly thick.

I agree with Ps.....but I do not think the next coup will turn it into a true dictatorship...it might be rule by military, but even they can see the benefits of keeping us outsiders somewhat on side.

Please dont tar all smokers with the same brush. And restaurants in Thailand dont allow smoking in them, so I fail to see how it wafts into your childs face.

I went from that point and shoot mentality some time ago, to then thinking about it a lot more as looking at the shot through the camera, it made a huge difference to the quality of the pic.

TwoDogz, before you drift completely off-topic, may I make a suggestion that you and your children find a resturant to eat? And not hang about the entrances to BTS stations where this incident took place; it could look embarrassing to the native population that a visitor to their country would act this way.
