Limited time free entree to a few places, a short break from the double pricing policy, thank you very much.

I went into an IKEA once, only once. I felt like a rat running around trying to get out of a maze. If you like cheap, laminated furniture, this store is for you.
I found expensive laminated furniture there.
May be you'll like Index living, easy to navigate?

You have never had IKEA meat balls?
The almond cake, apple cake, chewy chocolate cake, cheese cake at the Swedish restaurant go very well with the free coffee. No assembly required.
Coffee is free if you become a member..or it it really free?

Was there last week. Did not enjoy the food and the free coffee as the eating area don't have proper air conditioning. The Bangna branch is more convenient from Pattaya anyway.

Just create your own fillable fields using Adobe Acrobat. Yeah, I know -- the cost is ridiculous, plus you can't buy it anymore -- you have to subscribe and pay annually. Fortunately, I've some older pirated versions that work just fine -- except with some newer PDF fillable forms. Can you find such software on the street anymore?
I was using Nitro PDF reader to fill pdf files, now I just use a pen since I stopped writing ransom notes.

Renewed my 5 year license last week.
Had to goto DLT to make an appointment in person first.
Documents needed on appointment day:
1. Passport, original and copies of photo and visa pages.
2. Driver license, original and copy of front and back.
3. Residency cert from Jomtein , original and copy if you also renew motorbike license.
4. medical cert.
5. Print out of the proof of the online class completion.
Took 40 minutes to get the new license.
I went there the day after my birthday, my new license expires on my birthday in 2029.

S&P 500 companies profit margin is 12.7%.
I have never looked at my long term index investment as gambling.
If you don't invest in stocks, find something you feel comfortable to invest. Don't just hold cash.
I am much younger then 74, I am more concerned with what stocks to sell rather than which investment to get into.

Deposit replaces insurance which must be keep , that's my understanding.
I would seek clarification from BOI if I had $100000 deposit instead of Insurance.

Charlie Munger, the longtime vice chairman and second-in-command to Warren Buffett at Berkshire Hathaway, died on Tuesday morning.
Munger was 99, and would have turned 100 on Jan. 1.
Munger had been a Berkshire vice chairman since 1978.

50.04% of BRK/B is invested in Apple.
About 80% is invested in top 5 holdings.

$100,000 is not a big deal to me one way or another.
It's just not how I would manage my money.
17000B to 25000B is 0.8% of $100,000, it's a no brainier to invest the money and pay the insurance, but only to me,you should do what you are comfy with.

I just wondered:
1. Are the queues still the same? (if so which is best sort of time to go down there)
2.And as there been any separation into different queues or sections for different visa needs example: 1 year extensions, re-entry visas, tourist extensions, 90 day reports etc to speed up the process?
1. Waiting time in the queue depends on your luck. Last week I was there twice, waited 25 minutes the first visit but only 2 minutes the second visit.
2. For 90 days report go straight to the right building. For TM30 and Residency Cert, goto left building to get a number before going to the right building. All others goto the main building after taking the number.

By "self health insurance" you meant keeping $100,000 cash in a bank account, Thai or foreign bank.
Keeping cash is not what I want to do. in 2013 i poured all my cash holding of my portfolio into Berkshire Hathaway at $103 per share, at market closing yesterday BRK/B was $361 per share. At the same time inflation has eroded the dollar purchasing power by 25% in the last decade. Next decade could be worse as high inflation may linger around for a while.
If you add another $250,000 brought into Thailand to qualify for the visa, the real cost is HUGE. I am sure you have your own reasons to do so, and I hope the benefits out weight the real cost of your visa.
This is how much cash I keep :)

My Pattaya next door neighbor parked his car at the border when he went to Siem Reap. You should be able to do the same. May be search " parking" on google map near the border and start from there. I have never heard of any problems with immigration if you have non-o and re entry.

Indeed. But it is a shame that you had to do this. And the more unnecessary hurdles they erect thereby, the less people will apply for an LTR visa.
The insurance requirement is not as bad as it may look.
The insurance premium I found ( 17,350B to 25,000B/yr in the 61-75 age range ) is about 3% of 800,000B tied up for non-O. If the stock market investment return next 10 years is less then 3% yearly than I have bigger things to worry about.

For movies on big screen TV I have an Onkyo amp and Polk tower speakers, which I am about to upgrade to the Reserve series soon.
For PC use I have very old Creative T20 which I believe is not on the market.
Edifier has taken over Creative market share on PC speakers.
This one looks interesting: Edefier MR4, about 3200B on Shopee.
