  1. Here is an interesting calculation.

1 tons of rice can produce 390 l of 96.5% ethanol. Since fuel ethanol is sold at about 17 baht/l, 1 tons of non-food grade rice is worth 6,630 baht.

We have to include the production costs. And as far as I know, the Bioethanol production is developing the use of rice straw and other farm waste, but not the food. That would not be seen with good eyes, considering the millions of deaths due to global hunger.

  2. Leaving aside the question about the involvement of monks in politics, I can affirm that Luang Pu Buddha Issara is an extraordinarily wonderful human begin. - He is not an ordinary monk at all. - Amongst many other things, at his monastery Wat Onoi he is constructing a hospital to treat patients of Cancer with natural medicine. Although the Vinnaya (227 rules for the forest monks) do allow monks to fabricate their own medicines but not for lay people, he is using his outstanding knowledge about herbs and traditional medicine to help others.

Few years ago I had a severe problem at the neck vertebrae. After one year of treatment at Bangkok Hospital and other centers they told me that the only solution was surgery. Luang Pu did completely cure me avoiding me a dangerous and expensive surgical operation. And free of cost! I made a voluntary donation.

He will always have my deepest appreciation and admiration.

Take any conclusion that you wish about the issue or whether a monk should or should not be involved in a political conflict (I even have my own doubts about that). But if you dont know him personally, please do not undervalue his person.

Yeah...because those hocus-pocus herbal cancer cures worked a treat for Steve Jobs.

That weird treat of Steve Jobs reincarnated as a Warrior Philosopher was made by the Dhammakaya. Buddha Isara is not Dhamakaya; rather on the opposite side of the Thai Sangha.

  4. Notes from https://twitter.com/BuddhaIsara

Some wonder why a monk like me has to be involved in political matters. If Thai people fulfill their duties, monks wouldn't wanna be involved.

Instead of continuing to criticize govt, protest leaders should change approach to educate the Thais about advantages of People's Council.

Following white ideology, we don't let any specific individual win; victory belongs to the whole country. Everybody participates in winning.

We know that we are fighting against dark/evil minded people. We shall win against them with kindness, patience, and our white/clean minds.

Monk's duty is not to be neutral, but to be on the side that has the right view. It's monk's duty to point out to people what's right/wrong.

Middle path applies only to the level of effort. It doesn't apply to right and wrong -- no middle path between right people and wrong people

Life is uncertain. Be mindful and wise in choosing how to think and act. Then you'll always be happy even when you're put in a bad situation

Gather quietly&peacefully when the police come. Don't resist, shout, fight/react violently in any way. Then we'll win cleanly in our hearts.

If the police come to disperse us (protesters), do not fight back. We must hold on to our ideal of being white (non-violent) warriors.

Thanks, Khun Tarit (DSI chief), for issuing me an arrest warrant, which is considered an honorable certificate for challenging the tyranny.

Those who think monks shouldn't talk about politics are foolish, as they are unaware of past relations/support between Buddhism & politics.

If monks/priests from every religion were not under the Constitution, only then can you say that monks shouldn't talk about political issues

Some police set up troop inside temple, threaten monks and block the monks from receiving food offerings. It is an example of Thaksinocracy.

Don't waste your time cursing me. Instead, think whether or not the political problems that I mentioned really exist and how do we solve them

The fact that Thai people collectively protested the government is not the people's fault, but is a result of government's unethical actions

Buying votes in order to gain a majority while ignoring the interests of minority groups is not a democracy, but is an autocracy/a nightmare

Plz share your opinion about People's Council of Thailand by filling out the form in this link: http://tinyurl.com/m2nvl89 (need 50,000 people).

It's a pity that some people are immature & try to hurt others who differ in opinions. I'm opposing corrupted politicians, not the red shirts

  5. Very bad news for the farmers (I don't care about the government)

China cancels deal to buy Thai rice due to graft probe

    http://www.straitstimes.com/breaking-news/se-asia/story/china-cancels-deal-buy-thai-rice-due-graft-probe-20140204

BANGKOK (REUTERS) - China has cancelled a government-to-government deal to buy 1.2 million tonnes of Thai rice after Thailand's anti-corruption agency launched investigations into a state rice-buying scheme, the Thai commerce minister said.

"China lacks confidence to do business with us after the National Anti-Corruption Commission started investigations into the transparency of rice deals between Thailand and China," Mr Niwatthamrong Bunsongphaisan told reporters.

He said the government would open a tender to sell 400,000 tonnes of rice from state stocks next week. It is desperate to get funds for the scheme because some farmers who have sold grain to the state have been waiting months for their money.

  6. BKK Post story confirms that Yingluck was wrongly instructed by the EC officers. Moreover, there were already ballots of the same colour that Yingluck put in the box in that same box - so there was no reason for her to doubt the instructions. It seems they were instructing everyone wrongly. Probably mislabelled the boxes. So the story isn't really so funny regards Yingluck's purported stupidity, but more worrying as EC officers should be able to get basic things like properly labelling boxes correct.

The same happened when she was accused of corruption on the Rice Pledge Scheme. Although she was the leader in charge, it was others who made the decisions for her, so she cannot be blamed giggle.gif

  7. An resume of the current situation that YL is facing, on CNN iReport

LOST LEGITIMACY, PIGHEADED, UNABLE TO MAINTAIN AUTHORITY

    http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1080553

The caretaker government of Yingluck Shinawatra has entirely lost its legitimacy to govern the country. It has seriously violated the law and the Constitution. It has caused damages but would not take any responsibility.

    1) Although Yingluck is from election, once she gets to form a government to govern the country, she brakes the rules, has malice against the nation, violates the rule of law, transgresses Constitution provisions of the Kingdom of Thailand, corrupts, embezzles, misbehaves, and betrays public trust. All of those have rendered her illegitimate to remain in state power.

Election is not a permit for anyone to defraud people or violate the law and the Constitution.

  8. Take a look at this video at this 15 second mark, is that badge on the front of his car grill (left of center on the front grill)?

This is one of the most puzzling images on that video:

    Video01.jpg

The Police does not prevent the vandalism, neither identify the troublemakers, and it is not even worried about people with guns.

That same scene is repeated in many other pictures.

It seems like the Police wants violence to happen, no matter who create it.

  9. RT@RichardBarrow: VIDEO: Gunfire & explosions in #Bangkok on the eve of national elections - RT @go6tv: คลิปปะทะ แยกหลักสี่ youtube.com/watch?v=_wVmQA… #Thailand

Any idea WHY they were beating the car?

Sent from my XT1032 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

From what I understand on Pantip (and I hope its true), the mob are my heroes. A group trying to move protestors away from the Laksi polling station. They say the car ran them down, and they were attacking it in revenge. The sticks they had came from the flags they were carrying in the march.

These people aren't forcing you to vote for their party, they're forcing open the polling station so you can vote for any of the candidates and any of the parties on the party list, including any of the opposition parties.

They're freedom fighters. Defenders of the constitutional right to vote.

Yep, and the shooter (caught in a photo) matches the cap and dress of PDRC guards at Laksi. Doesn't mean it was one of them, but the evidence matches.

    1391253297-BfYjpp1CUA-o.jpg

Sherlock Holmes, I don't deny that there may be violent people in both groups, and even third hands, but the cap of the man with the gun (which is a common and widely used hat) has a logo that is not not visible on those two guards.

  11. Proved the peace loving PDRC was <deleted>. AFP quite clearly say PDRC fired 2 grenades into red shirt crowd.

Army. still protecting the grenade launchers,

The turn out was so poor today, that the locals have also come out and occupied the ballot boxes.

The mob is mired now. They can't move out of this position at Laksi.. Only backwards. Nice of the army to help them.... Least AFP Reuters and BBC know what they see!!!!

Oh really? I don't see any news being posted about PRDC firing the grenades. Could you post the link to show us what AFP, Reuters and BBC knowing they see?

I cannot see that news either. I am following several witnesses on Twitter, and they say that it was only few fire-crackers, and that the red-shirts have dispersed.

The police and the army have formed a line to separate the two groups

Well... It seems that somebody has been wounded

It is risky to make evaluations on real time from the comments on Twitter. Some of them are contradicting to each other!!

Better to wait for more solid reports

  12. Any terrorist thugs blocking the democratic elections and preventing ordinary citizens of their rights should be eradicated by whatever means immediately! That fake monk should ge taught a lesson along with the rest of the garbage supporting him. (PS> I do nlt like the red shirts or PTP or Thaksin but I do not agree with terrorist holding and seizing public roads and threathening ordinary citizens like their fathers won thailand. Eradicate these terrorists, no need to negotiate.

How very emotionally challenged you seem to be.

As I've said before, those violence lovers that are posting on Thai-Visa are probably not even living in Thailand; otherwise they would probably have relatives, friends or coworkers out there.

  14. I guess the truth is inflammatory. Let's let the dictionary define this....

    Terrorism[ ter-uh-riz-uhm ]

    noun

    1. the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes.

    2. the state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.

    3. a terroristic method of governing or of resisting a government.

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Kuka, are you living in Thailand? I guess not; otherwise you may probably have relatives, friends and coworkers involved in this conflict.

Please, wish them peace and love, not to be violently beaten.

    402.gif402.gif402.gif

I guess that your post was not removed only for using the word terrorist but for wishing violence against a group of persons.
