Perhaps the school was found to not be strict in enforcing the terms of an Ed visa and this has been brought to the attention of immigration. They may now be doing their own investigation with arrivals who are known to have had a visa.
All speculation of course.

6 minutes ago, KKr said:
A few years ago there was talk about minimum wage to 15.000 , wasn't there?
Did that not happen to prevent the economy going down ?
Or am I completely mixing things up here.?I believe that was university graduates with a Degree.

Lucky guys with the current taking them towards a safer place.
Was there no boat name for them to see as it hit them? Perhaps on the stern after it passed. All the fishing boats I saw around Hua Hin for example were lit up like Christmas trees.

Wow. The vitriol in this thread against two young people doing something stupid is amazing.

No wonder with fees knocking on 40k a month before van rental fees, servicing costs and fuel (of whatever flavour) they drive like loonies.

Managed to escape. Says it all really.

Not such a good development.

If you write what many people see as complete crap then it's safe to assume that you're living in a very narrow lane.
Good click bait.

Money IS used in many Thai jails.
No, it is not. There would be no point.
All money, together with any other personal possessions, is taken from prisoners on their registration at the prison. It is held by the prison in an account in the prisoner's name to which additional money can be added by outsiders and any purchasing within the prison is debited from that prisoner's account. On release any funds in that account are returned to the prisoner down to the last baht.
There are no facilities at all in Thai jails that use cash.
Thank you for clearing up how money is used in Thai jails.

When a friend of mine was checked into immigration detention in BKK he was given 100 baht of his cash back after the strip search and powdering. Once he got into his cell a nice man offered him 'protection' for 100 baht. Stay was relatively peaceful after he paid whilst waiting for the wheels of 'justice.'

A few days a year and the sad sacks forecast doom and gloom for eternity. Enjoy SongKran for you don't live forever.

10 days advance notice for permission seems fair if you're planning a long trip on the road anyway.
If you're based here in Thailand can't really see it affecting you, nor from Singapore or Malaysia.
If you're bringing your own motor home and food what revenue are you bringing into the country. To me it's like taking your own food and drink to a nice restaurant and using the finest China and cutlery, bending a few spoons, breaking a few plates and then leaving without so much as a Thank You.

Islam guides daily life so expecting a separation of Mosque and State is a pipe dream that will not be allowed to happen.

Go for it. You only live once and it sounds like you love the place.

Children under 15 don't get done for overstay. Over 15 they require a visa (to my knowledge) and if then go on to overstay risk falling foul of the new laws regarding overstay being implemented soon. 10 year bans and the like.
Open to correction if I'm wrong.

The rates are pretty good at the moment, highest it's been in years. It made me laugh, at one of the super rich places last year, I changed up a load of Saudi Riyal, one note was rejected because of markings in pen on it.
They then proceeded to give me the Thai money, which had markings on it. I pointed this out, but was told that this was okay as Thai money no pwoblem!
Made you laugh? Should have made you cry. You would have lost % on that transaction.
You get a much better rate for dollars in my experience and you can exchange Saudi Riyals for Dollars at 3.77 (SABB and Saudi Fransi for example) when the fixed rate is 3.75.
Although Super Rich et al don't discriminate as much as the banks. Only my experience.

Every time we leave Thailand on travels the immigration officer asks the missus if she's the mother of the kids. Never tried to leave without her and have seen other solo male travellers with kids pulled around the back for a chat. So it's not unusual.
Immigration would have asked where the entry stamps for Thailand were.

Stayed in Nana Soi 6 for a few years. Great for access around BKK. Even better to get a taxi home after work as I was never refused.
Refused entry on Thai passport

Sorry but this is not correct.
Our kids enter and leave every other country on their British passport and enter Thailand on their Thai passport. Never ever been an issue.
